  1. Yup - nice sub you have in the boot, good tunes too! I did wave and say hi 😀
  2. Will do. For those that have never ridden Wintervogel :
  3. This was my 10th 99er. Loved! I did the 100km last year on my 26er MTB. Today it was the 29er on some gravel. Next year I hope they have an option that included the scenic Wintervogel road to Kalbaskraal.
  4. Same. Will be my 10th 99er.
  5. Absolutely lovely. Rode it on a hard tail with steel toe safety boots which afforded me the opportunity to ride where other pushed 😉
  6. That was absolutely perfect. My 8th Durbie Dash - not my fastest, still a great day out. Perfectly organised as always.
  7. Aye, this is only my 2nd RaceTec board. Got it at the 2015 Procupine Ridge MTB after my first one got stolen along with my 2014 Giant Revel.
  8. I have done this each year since 2014. The waterpoints I remember are next to the Vissershok/Malanshoogte crossing, another about 1km up Malanshoogte when coming back. I think one at Meerendal and Signal Gun before the final climb.
  9. I find the registration process to be a bit less eco-friendly the past two years. Why should I drive their twice? Not to mention the petrol cost. Thankfully I figured out last year that just entering and starting at the right time will still get you results - just remember your racetec board.
  10. Pffft, been riding CTCT on a 26er MTB for years now.
  11. I'm preparing myself mentally for a 5 hour ride...
  12. At least on the Fedhealth ride the trails were marked. No need to seek them - bonus.
  13. The double booking of dates really has to be dealt with. I missed a few rides I was keen to do because of it. Might be doing this on my muddy mountain bike purely out of curiosity. Will see how I feel closer to the time.
  14. Awesome day out! This reminded me how demanding Fedhealth can be, took me back to when it was on the other side of Simonsberg in 2018. Absolutely LOVED that all the races were on the Saturday. I like to be lazy on Sundays while others like to nurse their hangovers. Not a big fan of Sunday races. A lot of riders could do with lesson in being courteous to other trail users, so this was their chance. That said, the 15km back markers were very accommodating on the way out and 5km kiddies on the way back in. My only gripe is something seems to have gone wrong with early entries and names - they appear to have the emergency contact swapped with the entrant. A classic export-to-Excel type mistake. Came off fast and hard at Dornier trying to overtake a few 30KM riders and ended up with my foot up my arse. Yes - it is indeed slippery and muddy out there. Did not hurt that much while pedalling but walking is a pain now. Had a good chuckle at all the cleated riders pushing their bikes on perfectly ridable steep sections, even had one ask me if I was trying to proof a point in my tekkies. Well yes, I am, they are much more comfortable up ones rear in the event of a crash. This was also a chance to ride the sections they trimmed from last year's race in the rain, and I am very thankful they were not included last year, but happy they are back this year. Picked up someone's phone and was able to re-unite it with one of their friends, so that ended nicely. My daughter had a blast on the 5km, so maybe next year I'll be riding with her on the 15km.
  15. The 60KM is a tough challenge - always enjoy it,
  16. Very nice ride, I did this last year. Sadly, it is on the same weekend as a couple of other rides and while I am in the area it is for the Aurora Om Die Berg ride that is on the 26th. Will be cheering you guys on when we head back home from Dwarskersbos. I think I was the first mountain bike to finish last year, set the bar low at 9h15.
