  1. Yes I have done it a few times, and I also have a year permit for Bottelary. It's nothing too serious seeing as you already did a 50km. Hopefully they have that lovely floating bridge at the end.
  2. good point, I have picked up a few ticks up there, but the past few weeks the trail blazer have been hard at working cleaning up the trails and cutting the grass.
  3. Please do not trust the long route map they have. It has been wrong since the very start and every year I supply them with the correct one only to be ignored. Here is the correct long route and profile for it.
  4. Well my legs surely got into the funride vibe because this new and improved One Tonner took me a smidgen over 6 hours. Have to agree with the rest - it is a nicer route than before and Bainskloof up is not nearly as hard as I though. A nice long gentle climb. Glad I did this. I stopped at the Botmanskloof and Perdeberg water points and they were excellent. Remember folks, it is you that need those drinks - not your bicycle - kindly go park it somewhere before you hog around the table. Congrats to PPA for pulling this off and to all that finished.
  5. Just washed the bike and had to take off the race number from the last funride I did on it - literally the last time I rode the bike half a year ago. Coincidentally I got that seeding from last year's One Tonner. We have come full circle it seems.
  6. Joh, lots of talk about seeding and serious roadie type stuff I see here. Sjoekalalie. Anyone here just doing it for fun? You know, cause as I've been saying for years, what is the PPA One Tonner other than just an extended fun ride? We get to see a new route with new scenery and whatnot. Fun.
  7. Seed(ing) is for the birds.
  8. Reminds me of 2013, my first time. It was enough to scare me off for a few years. I'm starting in E and most certain will not finish in E.
  9. I've done this for a good couple of years now, in the current format it is not too bad, worst was 2015, good gravy that was brutal. But if I can do it then anyone can.
  10. You'll be fine if you made K2C. Single track is on par with Bottelary Hills.
  11. Sorry that you feel that way, next year I will be back doing this one, last year was tough but rewarding.
  12. Hats off to everyone that made it. I did it last year and with the heat of yesterday this would have been too much for me.
  13. Yes, this is essentially Koringberg but from the other side, you ride out of Moorreesburg, up Korningberg and then back to Moorreesburg with a couple mile filler farm loops. https://www.strava.com/activities/1827923965 Skipping this one because those fields will be awfully muddy after the rain later this week and I would like an option of just going up Koringberg and coming back, skipping mile filler. But, the bottom line still is that organisers are not marketing well enough and not picking dates with no other rides on them.
  14. Emails do play a part of being aware of events. I know about Mooreesburg's Swartland MTB this Saturday purely by word of mouth.
  15. Absolutely beautiful today, the hottest one I've had so far, but loved it so much to have the chance to go up the pass and see Suurvlakte again. Well organised, exceptionally well marshaled (could actually have gotten away with less). Water points seemed good, did not stop at any though. My only complaint is no Coke at the finish. I stopped and looked around and nothing was insight. At least there were some excellent wine on sale. Maybe the date needs to move to a less crowded one, attendance (Racetec finishers) seems down - a lot : 2019 : 15 2018 : 42 2017 : 69 2016 : 83 2015 : 36 (75km) 2014 : 31 (75km) Nothing wrong with the route, so I think a day with no other events will increase the rider figure.
  16. I never miss this
  17. They should have riders decide with a split. More KM or man up and gravel.
  18. Seed(ing) is for the birds.
  19. Different strokes for different folks. I just wanna add my name to this list and move one.
  20. I'm in - my 9th one.
  21. That is one more reason I'm only doing 10 K2Cs (last one next year). I love it but there are lucrative alternatives closer to home.
  22. Really enjoyed the quarry - maybe because I had people looking on as I rode down and up sections everyone else were pushing their bikes. Gotta love flat pedals. The middle section of mile filler was as expected and that wheat field was pretty scenic. I did leave a bit of legs left for the last river section. This is a unique challenge. Maybe next year let people riding the event park for free and the rest can pay? About the other events, I wish there would be more discussion among organisers of events. This weekend it is Fedhealth but Wolseley (previously at the end of June) moved their date and now the two clash. Guess we really are spoilt for choice
  23. Trivial it may be, but next year I'd like parking to be included in the entry fee - which I paid well in advance of the event. I did enjoy the ride - so much effort went into building the single track and it is highly appreciated. Everything was rideable if you had the correct pedals and I will be back, however next time on a shorter route. Nothing wrong with the long route, I just did it to satisfy my curiosity. Route marking was perfect, water points were well stocked, marshals where needed. Even the weather played along - so this event scores 10/10 in my book. Thanks to everyone involved.
