  1. I won't be doing this ride...time for a good rest before Argus after what has been a very busy past few weeks. Maybe I'll come out and support though...
  2. Those would just be for riders wearing the Racetec chip...many league riders wouldn't have been riding with one.
  3. Tiny, I could be wrong but think its planned for the 2nd. Either way I'm planning on doing a few more hours out after the recce ride if you keen on a longer ride? Oh and Reece, you flew up signal hill in the TT, good job there on your result!
  4. As promised, Argus organizers sent out a mail regarding 2 laps of Argus legally. They have confirmed that I will be able to, you need a index of 23 or better and will need to purchase a 2nd entry before 21 Feb.
  5. This has just been started maybe post here too https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/136061-lost-and-found-forum/
  6. That guy in A on the 29er hardtail was a machine today!
  7. Yeah i really enjoyed that ride! Went out quite hard in A and between about 5/6 of us we managed to pull back the % bunch in 35kms...after that i just tried to stay out of trouble in the bunch. When we hit Malans I decided to rather be cautious and took it easy through there and then rolled through to the finish. Nice easy spin to keep the legs loose for tomorrows league ride. Also a little confused by the seeding process, I saw many guys that clearly didn't belong in the % group and many very strong guys in the A group, it was a bit sketchy when our groups joined, lots of nervous riders being indecisive about movements almost caused a few pile-ups.
  8. So sold on Gumtree by someone in Plumstead...our friends at Neils Wheels perhaps?
  9. Helshoogte from Pniel side is definitely one of my favourite climbs...looking forward to this!
  10. In case anybody missed it on the event mailer...fun riders and league riders must keep their groups apart. If you riding "A" fun ride and you catch Cat 3 you need to either pass them or stay an acceptable distance behind them. There has been occasions where league riders have benefited from fun riders as well as the other way around.
  11. Have any of you tried the Geax Mezcal? I see they are extremely light but is the tread a little thin for Cape winter riding?
  12. Or this one...
  13. Back on topic...this is probably my favorite.
  14. If it's windy, you'll suffer and you'll get stronger...living in the Cape you just have to embrace it. As usual, personal opinion.
  15. Those Rainbow Stripes are worth more than the weight of that medal in gold anyway...
  16. What's the going rate for gold these days though???
  17. Until they get faster than you?
  18. Hahaha too true!
  19. My approach too...although I'm starting to think the time and material value invested in cycling may lead me to never be in a position to find someone...hahaha Also when I see other peoples kids I tend to think my bikes are more important anyway.
  20. I stay in Obs but don't do much cycling from home so can't advise you on that bit. As far as an LBS, you have quite a few choices, I regard Avron from Cycle Traders as a great guy and resource if you need anything bike related.
  21. So you never need spares? Never pay for a coffee or meal during 1 of your weekend rides? I struggle to believe you don't incur any costs at all...
  22. Opinions are welcome...as long as they are the correct ones...
  23. Yip, if that was an event entry, I'd say that counts...
  24. I like your approach to it, cycling isn't the most budget friendly of activities but 90% of the time I justify it all the time!
