  1. Well, it is good to see Hunter showing this type of attitude. His attitude towards Landis was far too forgiving and permissive.
  2. I would've been happy if Ricco had ridden into the back of the neutral support vehicle at the start of stage 1 and broken his leg, but that didn't happen so I had to settle for a positive test result. That aside, he is the only rider that has had an impact on the race that has gone. Sure Piepoli won a stage and Cobo was in the top ten, but none of the actions of the SD riders affected the yellow jersey race. As I have said before, Schleck is inept on a TT bike so he is not a threat overall and the rest all marked each other as they would have done if the SD weren't off the front.
  3. I would contact Riccardo Ricco. He should have at least two years with nothing but time on his hands. Seriously though, nice concept. Perhaps you should consider getting local pro's involved as they are paid next to nothing (both here and in the UK)
  4. maybe, or maybe its more that you can't turn donkeys into racehorses, as both Millar and Kimmage have pointed out in the past. The one thing they actually agree on.
  5. Any specs out yet on the 996? Looks pretty decent - obviously sales on the 986 were okay to justify expanding the range.
  6. Perhaps.... https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=29392&PN=1linnega2008-07-16 03:51:48
  7. BTW - cool pics. Want to do Alpe d'Huez sometime but preferably as part of La Marmotte or something similar. Have ridden Ventoux in summer and winter (as far as is possible with the ice).
  8. No-no. I'm quite serious, it must be painted pink and have a basket. Nothing frilly - a square alu basket will be fine.
  9. I want a bike like that but in pink....with a basket.
  10. Also they/we don't actually know what was inside of him except brandy. They found amphetamines still in his pocket, so he may not have used anything that day, or he took a double dose to make sure he didn't run out of juice.
  11. Put it this way - Beltran is not even as important a rider as Moreni, and he only got as much press as he did because Cofidis pulled out and left Brad Wiggins on the bench. The race may not be bigger than the stars, but it is certainly bigger than pack fodder.
  12. I imagine Froome is racing on a British license because he can and because it means that then he does not need a work permit. The problem with that is that he is not eligible for World's as Kenyan, so I'm not sure it was a great move.
  13. Craven did Yes, we knew about him two years ago. Andy Schleck maybe not - but then he is much the same age as JL. In any case, the only reason I compared them is that they are all TDF rookies.
  14. Wasn't a criticism - just a statement of fact. I do believe JL will do well - probably not as accumulate as good a palmares as Voigt - but well enough to be considered SA's best all-round cyclist in a couple of years. BTW - I compared him to Schleck and Ricco because they are also youngsters, and also rookies at the Tour. linnega2008-07-14 13:23:30
  15. He is doing as well as could be expected. Perhaps the perceived lack of support is more because expectations were unfairly high. He is after all no Riccardo Ricco or Andy Schleck but certainly showing that he has a bright future and is already a very good pro, better than all but one other South African riding at the moment.
  16. Unfortunately - like drive-through banking - this would been destined for failure in South Africa.
  17. There is of course the regular one that gets added to every female lecturer attendance register: Mike Hunt
  18. Hey - Cherise is doing some very high intensity training. She was spotted riding with the old toppies yesterday in Toti.
  19. Joe Low - it is indeed a very sad indictment on human nature that so many evildoings are done in the name of religion. What is happening in Iraq is probably the best modern example. Holy - I liked the article. Thetone was excellent. Very light-hearted but managed to deal with quite a few interesting aspects. The comments on Cipo were amusing, and probably the most forthright comments Benna has made about Cipo. linnega2008-07-13 12:38:21
  20. BTW Holy, I was going to post on your original post. Read the article when I got my Procycling. Benatti seems to have come into his own in the last two years. He was lost after Cipo retired and was given limited opportunities with Phonak. When Procycling interviewed him near the end of his contract with Phonak he was bitter and twisted. In fact, a few of the comments he made made me a little uncomfortable about ethics of the home of our top foreign export. Wrote it off to bitterness at the time but probably shouldn't have. Anyway, interesting to see Benna professing his faith when times are good, but it would have meant more if he had professed the same when times were tough. Perhaps he did but it wasn't reported. Either way I always like his ?serenity? in the tough sprints, so I am a fan. linnega2008-07-13 12:22:41
