  1. Need some advice here... My employer has paid too little PAYE to SARS for the year. They gave me a R5000 travel allowance, thinking it is not taxable and to bring my basic salary down to a lower tax bracket. As you could have predicted, this resulted in me owing SARS thousands of rands. The trouble is that I have been trying to negotiate with my employer for months to adjust the travel allowance as my car is paid off and I don't travel enough business kilometres to justify R5000. She remained adamant that she will pay what she sees fit, based on her accountant's judgment (her elderly mother is the accountant). I am not trained in accounting and in retrospect I should have done further research earlier. I have to add that her mother loaded my income to SARS without the TA, which first had to be rectified through her newly employed accountant. She told the new accountant that I did not keep a logbook throughout the year, which is false. Coincidence? Edit: salary is cost to company based, so they weren't trying to skim on tax expenses. I have told my employer that I am struggling financially because of this error, but she distances herself from it and still demands that I continue to travel to the office for work in December that I can do at home or even discuss over the phone if needed. We travel to clients until November, which I happily do. Just interested to hear what my options are. I don't want to alienate my relationship with my boss, but when is it enough? On a side note, she once cancelled a client's contract for religious reasons, just telling her she is restructuring the business (that did not go well).
  2. Same happened to a guy in my school. He was flat. Still had his ciggy in his hand...

  5. How did you figure that out?
  6. Was wondering why I have been getting spam emails again. And getting strange phone calls from Venda...
  7. Het Hugo ooit die polisie gebel? Dalk moet hy die veearts bel om die mense “uit te sit”. Dit moet net voor Maandag gebeur...
  8. Thread revive. How light are dual-dus frames? Thinking of changing my hardtail frame to a dually and just swopping parts over. But it is hard to find info on the webs...
  9. Just check that you also click on “submit to SARS” after you uploaded
  10. My travel allowance does not show up on my IRP5 form. Is this a common problem at SARS? Or could this be my employer’s error? I have logged a dispute and SARS was quick to respond by saying we should submit the corrected IRP5 form and some other forms meant for the employer...
  11. It is not always clear if a race is sanctioned or not. Some sanctioned races never end up on the CSA website and races don't always state whether they are sanctioned (USN races etc). We entered because we expected that the JUMA would be sanctioned just like last year. I am still quite unexperienced with regards to the licensing etc so a lesson was learned to always check with the organisers first if it is not stated in their race details. JUMA did not state anything about CSA (just like many other races, even the sanctioned ones). What I expected from them was to deal with this in a more professional manner. A friend and I entered and paid a few weeks ago. After realising that JUMA might not be sanctioned I asked them in an email (the online chats above was not me) if they were and if they could remove our results from the list after we raced. I got a short snotty answer without much help at all.
  12. All you licensed riders, beware... And their attitude towards this is horrendous!
  13. When opening up your NX shifter, one screw is longer. Remember which side it goes into or you'll end up with a hole on the other side... ditched the shifter anyways as the internals were faulty and upgraded to XO1 since.
  14. Tubeless tyres have thicker sidewalls for protection. If it feels flimsy, it might not be TL
  15. Do NOT do your friend (who knows nothing about bikes) a favour by taking her kids’ bikes to the LBS, deal with them on what needs to be done, even if she is paying (R2000). She thought that only the tyres needed to be inflated, but upon some investigation, I realised the bikes needed new gear & brake cables, chains (they were RUSTY) etc... After she got the bikes back, her kids were very excited and rode it all weekend. A week later we chatted about said bikes and so she revealed that one of the brakes aren’t working again because she dislodged one of the brakes (again) because they only need one brake ????????‍♀️ It was fixed due to wheel rub. Handlebars were ridden backwards at some stage (she complained about her daughter’s knees touching the bars) and I almost gave her a spare stem before she figured out what was wrong. Edit: I feel like I have to show them the ropes a bit, but will see how well the advice is taken.
  16. Forgive my ignorance, but what is the original movie called? Edit: found it. Downfall (Der Untergang)
  17. ???? I have heard that Spray ‘n Cook also does a superb job
  18. One thing I find annoying is how many specialised tools there are and that they’re not all compatible. Why not just one BB tool? Nooo... it has to be one special tool for each different BB. It still beats having to wait 5 to 7 business days for the bike shop to finish the job, even if things take me 5 to 7 business days to figure out and fix
  19. Cool thread. Sportsmans Warehouse has some KMC links in speeds 9 to 12. Thanks for the heads up. I have a KMC chain and spare Sram powerlinks...
  20. Have been running the Conti GP 5000 tubeless for a few months now. Once fitted onto the rim, it was very easy to seat. Pumped it to 5 bar and the tyre just folded into place, no pop. I used Stans, but the tyre loses pressure overnight as pointed out so I will try the Orange Seal. On the road I was surprised by how loud the tyres sound. Its hollowness just amplifies road noise but I like it. It rolls nice and fast too. Upgraded from Maxxis Detonator so to me it makes a huge difference. The Conti has an extra layer for puncture protection and you can feel the squishiness of that layer when the pressure is at about 3 bar. Have had a small piece of glass stuck in the tyre and it did not even puncture. Overall very happy so far.
  21. beat me to it
  22. She can submit a ITR12 which reflects income from all sources. The medical aid would have sent you a tax certificate which states the total amount of premiums paid. Request the 2019 tax form on efiling and it should reflect her IRP5 and Medical details already. She should get about 20% back on premiums.
  23. Sadly, they have taken a plunge especially since the new parking has been so far into the reserve and the trail runners used to take over. It used to be so much fun riding there, but the trails also eroded very much. Really hope Two The Core can manage a sustainable way of maintaining the trails.
