  1. Cool thread. Sportsmans Warehouse has some KMC links in speeds 9 to 12. Thanks for the heads up. I have a KMC chain and spare Sram powerlinks...
  2. Have been running the Conti GP 5000 tubeless for a few months now. Once fitted onto the rim, it was very easy to seat. Pumped it to 5 bar and the tyre just folded into place, no pop. I used Stans, but the tyre loses pressure overnight as pointed out so I will try the Orange Seal. On the road I was surprised by how loud the tyres sound. Its hollowness just amplifies road noise but I like it. It rolls nice and fast too. Upgraded from Maxxis Detonator so to me it makes a huge difference. The Conti has an extra layer for puncture protection and you can feel the squishiness of that layer when the pressure is at about 3 bar. Have had a small piece of glass stuck in the tyre and it did not even puncture. Overall very happy so far.
  3. She can submit a ITR12 which reflects income from all sources. The medical aid would have sent you a tax certificate which states the total amount of premiums paid. Request the 2019 tax form on efiling and it should reflect her IRP5 and Medical details already. She should get about 20% back on premiums.
  4. Thanks. The problem is that team selection is not happening. The respective cycling bodies will have to start taking action soon to not keep their riders at a disadvantage. Gauteng North (GNC) is the only region that I can find colours criteria for. I have heard of riders that register an address in that region, however not living there, just to be able to qualify for regional colours. That enabled one rider to be eligible for selection to represent the national team at the African XCO champs... GNC has things listed such as placing top 3 at an official national event (I don’t recall anything about representing the region to qualify). But, that is about to change...
  5. Sadly, they have taken a plunge especially since the new parking has been so far into the reserve and the trail runners used to take over. It used to be so much fun riding there, but the trails also eroded very much. Really hope Two The Core can manage a sustainable way of maintaining the trails.
  6. Thx!! Will check it! Strangely, it was fitted the exact same way on previous fork. Better to not try and test its fate...
  7. Interesting times indeed... I was informed a few weeks ago that this region does not have its criteria for regional colours set, for example. No regionals, no Gauteng colours either... Please forward the letter to me. Will PM details.
  8. Got this beaut this week ???????? Upgraded from a 2012 Rockshox Sid XX World Cup dual air 80mm fork with hydraulic lockout ???? to a Fox Step Cast Performance 100mm. Did some research and got all the bits and bobs to DIY. Hacksaw absent from pic and sick with the flu. Will post pic when all is done.
  9. Also could not find info. Best to enter asap. Entries usually fill up before closing date
  10. Also did it last year. Suffered!! Lots have changed in terms of training so hopefully I will suffer for a shorter period of time this year. The route is also quite technical, especially on day 2. That is very taxing paired with the steep gradients. But loads of fun. By far the best race I have ever done.
  11. On my previous bike I have been on SLX 1x11 with a Sunrace 11-50 cassette. Highly recommend it. The gear jumps aren’t that different from a 11-50 12-speed. On NX 1x12 I feel the close spacing of the gears are harder to set. There is always that one gear that does not sync properly. Edit: SLX 11-46 is a bad setup. Gear jumps are too big between the last two gears.
  12. It could be because most still love gravel grinding and desire more top speed.
  13. I have seen RaceFace crank arms for under R2000... Now I know it's all one piece - thanks
  14. Thanks droo. I am not too much concerned about weight if it only makes 200g difference. I've seen that the GX crankset is on sale at Bike-Addict, but I have no idea if OEM is anything to be concerned about?
  15. I currently run a GXP Sram XX 2x10 crankset, used for 1x12. The issue is that the spider and crank arm is one piece and the BCD is 120. Running a smaller chainring on the inner BC will just look weird... That only allows for a 36t chainring minimum, but I have felt the need for a smaller chainring in certain conditions, such as XCO. It seems that one could get away with just buying new crank arms (much cheaper too) instead of replacing the entire crank. 1) Could I just replace the crank arms and buy a direct mount spider? 2) What do I need to look at to make sure I buy compatible crank arms? From what I have read about GXP BB's is that it has a 24mm spline on the drive side and 22mm on the non-drive side. The current Q-factor is 166mm. Thanks.
  16. Spiderwebs are being spun all over the place... But I am sure they will get things back in order
  17. At the moment my Bryton uploads to Strava for the Active Dayz, but I also swim & run so I have linked a Suunto account as well. There is no trouble syncing from my Suunto Moves Count so I could try to upload .fit files from my Bryton to Suunto, but it will be a schlep. What device do you use?
  18. I rode there this morning and some trails have been cut. Routes were clear. Wet, but not too muddy. One gripe I have is the condition of the bathrooms (especially the ladies).... sorry but I had to use the men’s. It has not been cleaned in a VERY long time and toilets are out of order.
  19. I recorder over 4000 calories on Saturday and it is still not sync’ed. I was hoping they could give me Active Dayz for the rest of the year
  20. Second time doing this event. This one will probably be the easier one. This one tough, beautiful but very enjoyable event - counting the sleeps!
  21. Seems to be another scammer with the same MO as Daniel Williams
