  1. @Andreas_187 are you still looking for more? I need one - and am based in Tokai.
  2. Only way to get better than Aeropress in my experience is a full on proper high pressure espresso machine. 6 or 7 friends have bought them after trying a cup from mine. I think some guys use them as their standard way to taste a bean. Can't recommend them enough!
  3. Anyone know if it'll be streamed online anywhere?
  4. Another for Trail and Tar... full workshop but still managed to squeeze me in. Servicing costs there are super reasonable.
  5. Google is your friend... Bizarre.
  6. Thanks guys... good to know it's not just me. It seemed to have more to do with the position of the battery than the light - but will experiment a bit more.
  7. Hi All, Has anyone else had issues with a wireless bike computer (Sigma 1606) cutting out (signal loss) as soon as a bar mounted night-light is turned on? Seems that it is the proximity of the battery that affects it. Any issues with GPS based computers? Thanks
  8. Any tips or suggestions to make it as quick as possible to get out the house with everything you need for a ride? Always seems to take me forever to get ready...
  9. No Ways! Only took me 4 weeks to discover that the pressure gauge detaches - but did wonder why you'd want to carry a shock pump with you on a ride!
  10. Easy way to check if it is the chainring is to see if it slips in your biggest ring - it receives the lowest torque so will be least worn. Check out this post: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/136220-new-chain-cassette-now-funny-noises/
  11. You can apply a lot more power to the front brake before it lets go than the rear (due to the weight shifting forward as you brake). You may find a larger rear rotor just locks up more easily?
  12. Guy helped me out big time with some old Campy 9 speed gear - great service
  13. Although you may well be pushing your luck by putting another company's logo on the photos!
  14. My experience there, is that the owner/manager is fantastic and has personally helped me before, can't remember his name, but the rest of the staff lack experience and enthusiasm for the job... They are however one of the better stocked shops in the South Peninsula... How's that for a Stewie Griffin "compliment sandwich"?
  15. Hahaha, angry rants always funny.
  16. Very hard when you don't have a new one to compare it to, but check at 0 and 180 degrees to the cranks and compare to 90 and 270 degrees, wear is always worst there, but it does look like you may have a bit of wear there. Middle ring on MTB's usually gets nailed first. Is the noise just as bad in the big ring? Wear is usually the least there - lowest torque.
  17. Spot the difference...
  18. Check the wear on your chainrings... if your rings have worn badly (along with your chain and cluster) then you will definitely get some very funky noises from your chainrings. Just had exactly that problem on my road bike...
  19. What has been the best purchase you've made for under 2K - the thing that has given you the most pleasure, or made the biggest difference to your riding? For me has to be my Mavic Crossride wheelset that I got for a steal from Crown Cycles in Cape Town.
  20. I am honestly sad to read the negative reports about the race today, but to get back to my 2 original questions: Has it got to the point where an "open road" event is no longer responsible? Is there a possibility of harming relations and antagonising motorists by holding an event like this? It sounds like a) the organisation wasn't up the task of running this event on open roads, and b) I doubt today's race improved relations with motorists. I admittedly wasn't on the road today... but it doesn't sound like it was good for cycling.
  21. Zilla I'm not for a second suggesting we don't get out and ride... i'm just questioning the wisdom of having a ride in this format in that area at that time. South Peninsula is my training ground too, I'll just see you out there the following weekend. Happy riding everyone.
  22. Not really that area that worries me... more the built up areas like Simonstown, Fishhoek, Constantia etc. It's also the slower riders that are going to be out when the roads are busier.
  23. Cut off at the bottom of Black Hill is at 11am, and you still have to get people through Fishhoek.
  24. Having ridden around the peninsula for many years, I am very aware of the gradual increase in traffic on the roads. Has it got to the point where an "open road" event is no longer responsible? Is there a possibility of harming relations and antagonising motorists by holding an event like this? I will personally choose to ride somewhere far far away on Sunday. Any thoughts?
