  1. 130mm travel, 140mm fork, 68.5' HA I haven't heard it complain yet. It can even freeride a bit...
  2. Spoke to a mate who has some insight. Due to their relatively poor buying power Pyga struggles to get components at prices that compete with the big boys, so they can't really get in lower (apparently). That of course may be so but will also not convince me to fork out R20k more than I have to just to support local.
  3. So the ZAR exchange rate isn't an excuse here, yet the pricing is very "continental". What am I missing? Natural collusion? Market indicating pricing loud and clear?
  4. Ja that's what I also thought. Assumed he spoke out of experience, but that seems unlikely as per your post.
  5. Because that is value (still a boatload of money).
  6. Built and landed?
  7. Does anyone have a solid explanation for why warrantees stick to first owners when it comes to bikes (that cost the same as small cars these days)? I understand the contractual angle to it. A Warrantee is an agreement between manufacturer and buyer, which the manufacturer refuses to have ceded to second-hand owners. Why? Why can I buy a car that is still covered by the manufacturer's warrantee, or even pay a lumpsum when buying that car to take out an extended warrantee, but when it comes to a bikeframe, sorry, no. Is it to encourage the purchase of new bikes? Bit short-sighted because new bikes are becoming unaffordable (you might think you can afford it, but I will be hard pressed to accept that spending R80k-R100k on a bicycle is a smart way to spend your money and don't get me started on financed bike purchases). I realise I am the bitter child who didn't get picked for the team and is now bad-mouting the game, but FFS, I really don't get it.
  8. You see? I meen come on! R47k for a rad carbon bike vs R60k for a "niche" alu bike. Yes, I know ZAR exchange blah blah. Not my problem. I'm the buyer. Explanations don't make it easier to drop R10k more. Oh well, I know I'm in the minority here (judging by the amount of R60k+ bikes on the trails) - as long as the Epic keeps selling out, people will be buying Nomads.
  9. Same pricing pretty much. Seems like Giant or Spez will be getting my money next. R60k for an alu bike is retarded.
  10. Not sure who you spoke to, I got pricing as: Frame - R29k 3 star build - R55k. Still waaaaaaay too rich for me. Refuse to pay that for a bike. It's about the principal.
  11. No man, it's not a hardtail.
  12. How the hell does $2000 go to R40k? Niner replied but will get figures from a delaer soon. Pretty sure it won't be that bad. Sub-R50k for the whole bike.
  13. However, I suppose the Enduro Comp is just straight up a better bike for R10k less.
  14. Exactly a year old - http://www.pinkbike.com/news/niner-wfo-9-review-2014.html
  15. Waiting to hear from them re pricing, but I see the 3 star build is $4199. So I assume that will be about R45k locally. X1 drivetrain, Pike RCT3, MOnarch Plus. Then just swop out my bling on my Stumpy for the not so bling on the Niner (brakes, wheelset, dropper), sell the Stumpy and I've got myself a pretty sick new steed. Yes, that will do nicely methinks. *Starts working on spin to wife*
  16. Sweet. Next bike sorted!
  17. Not really talking about number overlap, but rather purpose overlap. To use the Spez examle the Camber Evo was pretty much a more XC friendly Stumpjumper but just as capable, so why would you pick the vanilla Stumpy over the Camber Evo? 10mm travel? No ways. So all I'm saying is they must just be aware of overcomplicating their lineup. The new models being carbon will offer sufficient differentiation and given big price difference I think the existing lineup will still be safe. Besides, it seems the SA market can swallow another R60k+ bike (I foresee more and more Giants on the trail...possibly even under my bum)
  18. Pyga best be careful not to start confusing their lineup. Stage, Stage Trail, 110, 120, 140, 160. Would the MX Trail not overlap with the 110? Maybe because it's carbon it'll be distinct enough. Just have to be wary of not doing what Spez did with all their models. Spez is now cutting all te Evo lines and simplifying the lineup with 100, 120, 140 and 160 bikes.
  19. Vale 59th and Strauss lapped and politely asked to get off the track.
  20. Needs more lumo...
  21. Oh look, a guy in Lycra on an S-Works Epic top 10'ing. The horror!
  22. How do you get it out of the derailleur?
