  1. I heard someone asked their doctor what they should do if they got bitten on their Fish River Canyon hike. Apparently he said they should go and sit down next to their friends so that they at least don't die alone.
  2. So you're saying we can expect a World Cup in Tokai someday soon on the Sneakies?
  3. Yes please! Much prefer this to the Mega. Less chance of me coming home in a chopper or my bike in a recycling bag.
  4. So you say I'll be seen as a tosser in Morzine? Yeah look that comment was made before I saw that section of tight switchbacks. Perhaps 650b will be perfect Just saying now though that if I have to ride the race with a nagging Ozzie on my tail I will kick someone in the balls.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-GntLqjLrM Having watched this it is evident that you will need: a) a serious training regime; b) decent skill on your bike; c) at least basic on the go repair know-how; d) a serious sense of humour / lots of patience; e) enough money to basically rebuild your bike after the race. Also, it seems that 29'ers (long travel obv) may not be a bad pick given the seriously rocky terrain
  6. And then you moer him with the book...
  7. Are you allowed double crown in Enduro?
  8. No. Just. No.
  9. 9
  10. Oh FFS!!!! It's Xterra weekend. How am I going to scheme my way into the Sunday Enduro?
  11. Western Cape seriously needs more racing! We have all the mountains but only 3 enduro's a year? Can easily do one every month and maybe skip Argus and Epic months, but 8-10 a year would be awesome!
  12. Sure it's been answered but with a narrow-wide ring up front do you need a special chain or is the chain already on my bike fine?
  13. Thanks, so do I adjust it at the shifter or at the derailleur (i.e. tighten it or loosen it at the derailleur itself)?
  14. My wife's front derailleur has some rub when in the big ring, so I tried adjusting the H screw but the derailleur doesn't move at all regardless of how much I turn the screw. Is it "screwed"?
  15. Whatever...plain ridonculous! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VtVrRGUfos
  16. Taahir, just a question: why are you looking at FF lids? Only for enduro or are you going to ride some DH stuff? Personally I don't see FF helmets being requires for local enduro an I don't expect that to change soon. It's a big investment into gear that you may hardly use (I only use my ff lid on the odd DH trails I ride here in Paarl and obv for France next year). It was on a super special at R500 so small investment, but Had it cost me R4000 I would be very bleak. R3k-R4k buys a TON of cool stuff for your bike, hell it's a trip to a far off SA trail. Just my two cents, because I can see a bit of my own "fools rush in" approach in what I've seen of your posts (please don't take it the wrong way!) Cheers
  17. What the hell did I just witness? That guy was riding like an evil villain had his wife hostage and he had to shred to save her life. Insane riding. So fast!
  18. I most certainly sympathise and empathise. 8 weeks ago I bailed big time resulting in torn Rotator Cuff, bruised ribs and big ass scrapes. 4 weeks later on first proper ride I wipe and sprain my ankle. Week later another washout in a berm and i lost all the skin on my elbow. It's now been 2 weeks o fno falling *touch wood* I suppose when it rains it pours. Good lucl healing up!
  19. Rode the Cederberg trails this weekend. My mind is blown. IN fact I haven't felt like riding since coming back just because everything else I've ridden pales in comparison. Rode the old UItkyk Pass wagon trail (well pushed up for most of it). Coming down that trail reminded me of what I've seen of the Alps (not the parks, the actual stoney trails). Then went to Sanddrift and rode the Wolfberg and Lot's Wife trails. That was some of the most fun I've had just scrambling down those crazy rockey switchbacks and ignoring portage sections (why walk when you can ride). Even the jeeptrack passes through some of the craziest landscapes I've seen. Felt like riding on the moon!
  20. Is the trail safe to approach blind or would you recommend a walk up it first?
  21. Would that mean you didn't need the hanger anymore? My SS frame also has no hanger and I'm a bit lazy t go and have one manufactured.
  22. If this is true and is in fact only R2 100 to go to charity, they could literally just have asked hubbers for R10 each... But that marketing though...
  23. I'll just reply on behalf of OM: Because, ski lifts.
  24. Yeah, the one thing severely lacking from my skill set (and I put it down to just not riding long enough) is judging speed required for jumps. Obviously on these tables too little is the way to go rather than too much.
  25. What I've noticed on the vids and pictures is that the tables all have far flatter exits than we have here in SA, so arguably, if you just don't overcook the speed it should be a failry smooth exit with limit risk of OTB'ing or offing when casing it?
