  1. Boatloads can happen in two days.
  2. Old Mr. Vermaak must be wringing his hands. Looking to be close all the way to Lourensford.
  3. Went into my LBS this morning and saw that they stock the Enduro Comp. I was quite surprised since I thought Spez was only bringing in the carbon ones. At R45k I think it's still a bit pricey, but I suppose if you negotiate hard you can get it for R42k with a dropper post and some spares chucked in. Still runs the brilliant Pike up front and then quite a fat stanchioned Fox CTD shock (instead of the awesome Cane Creek). X7/X9 2x10 gearing with Formula C1 stopping. I must say though, it's a great looking bike. Prettier than the carbon ones by far!
  4. And it's a well known fact that Nino is an all-round nice guy, so maybe just the dynamic. Who cares. They won.
  5. And people were bitching about drivetrains... This guy is the posterchild for HTFU
  6. Damn Tigger! Not bad!
  7. Dropper post no doubt and maybe a shorter stem. The stem should be free and I agree the tubeless conversion would be a nice gesture, but a free dropper post? No chance and I'd tell you to get lost.
  8. Given my wheelsize choice for the trip I'm a bit more limited in my options. Any tips perhaps? Was considering Magic Mary's / Maxxis Ardent combo, but not sure whether Ardent is a good rear choice and also not sure whether I'll be able to source Magic Mary.
  9. Ja but I reckon a morning session followed by some sights will be on the cards for me here and there
  10. I went through this a while ago. Funny enough I just went back to basics for a month or so. Just worked on speed and natural riding ability and then one day I was at a gap jump I always rode passed and just felt positive about it. Nailed it and since then I've learnt not to force things that feel off. You know when you're comfortable hitting stuff, and eventually I just learned not to care about skipping some things.
  11. Yeah I nearly went off into a 10m rivine at Welvanpas on Saturday thinking I'm Jerome Clementz, so I realised it's time to make peace with whatever improvement I attain from now till Morzine will have to be restricted to doing what I can already do, just better and more consistently. Patches, your list has me convinced that I'll be doing a lot of watching and far less "doing" on this trip. Blue trails for me. Anyhoo, I wanted to also find out to what extent you guys are planning a "Ride or rest" approach to this trip? I've never been to Europe so I am most likely also going to play a bit of "Tommie die Toeris" and go see some towns by bike. You know, cruise around, have a beer, laugh at weird French people... Gonna be good!
  12. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20121220155339/victorious/images/6/6b/Well_this_is_awkward.gif Glad I was wrong.
  13. I deal with dodgy people everyday and I can tell the writing's on the wall. Honest stories are usually the simplest. Hope for OP that I'm wrong.
  14. Yeah sorry but this guy is taking you for a massive ride. Your money's gone. God knows why he even bothered commenting on the hub other than to buy some time lest the cops actually did something. The language and spelling in the posts, dodgy photos, phone numbers and phony waybills. If it looks like a duck...
  15. Why the copied photo???
  16. Why post pics from another site though? That's usually a serious dodgy sign, but I hope I'm wrong here.
  17. Am I the only one who missed the interview because I couldn't take my eyes off the rear wheel optical illusion behind him???
  18. Yes. Oh yes. CTD stands for Comes from The Devil.
  19. 35k has to get you the Stumpy FSR comp WITH a dropper post and tubeless conversion and probably some change for some bling! The only downer on the Stumpy would be the Fox fork up front, which I hat with all I have in me. I sold my Fox after two recalls and am now sporting a 140mm X-Fusion Trace. My bike feels like a different machine now! So I suppose you have to ask yourself, if the Pyga is R20k for the frame, can you build the bike with R15k change? I think you're going to struggle.
  20. Ironically, if you want to be a bit more exclusive, buy the Stumpjumper. At the last fee Enduro's I was one of two Stumpies amongst a sea of Pyga ;b Seriously though, you can't judge the bike by how others have done on it. Mark Hopkins would top 5 on a wheelbarrow. That said, those results do probably prove what a Pyga can do with a good pilot and it will obviously never limit your riding. A very important factor. But I seriously think the same can be said about the Stumpy. Both great bikes. You'll be happy either way. And to all the Spaz haters, you also probably hate Nike, BMW, Castle, and Apple. Damn those companies who made billions off a product that was crap but somehow became market leaders in their fields. Must be marketing shenanigans...
  21. For R40k you are in Stumpjumper Evo range. A seriously amazing bike. Don't think you'll get close in value with another bike.
  22. This is truly terrible news. There just seems to be a general lawlessness on the roads. And when cyclists get behind the wheel of a car they also turn into motorists. This week the Re:CM Uti van came blasting past me near Stellenbosch, lady driver with cellphone firmly on the ear. Nobody really cares unfortunately because we all seem to think things happen to other people.
  23. The mbr critisism was aimed at: - it's very heavy; - the seat tube extends very high; - the spec was crap (not pyga's fault); As far as the frame is concerned it's all positive other than the geometry being old school, but I don't see that as a bad thing. Sorry if I was a killjoy! Not meant to be!
