  1. if I sign in via 'Facebook', but my email address is the same, will I still be in the draw, or do I need to change the way I log into BikeHub?
  2. yup, and in my case, scratched the axle...
  3. This happened to me a few weeks ago. GO and replace the freebody of the hub the immediately. I rode it too long in that condition, and stripped the hub completely. Ended up having to get an entire new hubset.
  4. Clearwater cafe and trails next to Beaver Creek coffee estate Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
  5. Gees... it looks like they racing in the desert...
  6. Besides the spruit and cradle MTB, those are all private property trails and tend to be secure enough to do alone. There are some sections on the spruit (between William Nicol and rivonia) where you do pass vagrants and you may feel quite isolated if you are alone, even though incidents there even are very isolated and infrequent. I would say for weekday rides, if you alone, ride the Spruit between Trailhead bike shop and Johannesburg botanical gardens or even Alberts Farm. Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
  7. The Trailhead bike shop (Blairgowrie) will have a night ride on the second Wednesday in May. Check out their Facebook page. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the JUMA is happening in May, and that is quite an experience. Check out their website. For trails outside Sandton, check out Modderfontein, Thaba trails, red barn, wolwespruit, Northern farms, Avianto, Hero Adventure Hobby Park and the cradle MTB route (runs parallel to Cradle Road ride). 8. On the service note, without risk of hijacking the thread completely before Friday... has anyone recently been to a Cajees? walked out of the Little Falls one a few years ago and swore I wouldn't support them again.
  9. I hate that 'you are not worthy in a real bike store as you look like a noob' attitude. I have experienced that at some local LBS's, excluding the majority of the technicians at Linden, they are very welcoming for conversations (even if you are a noob). As a Joburger I think of CWC as a Massmart (Game, Builders etc) online store. Know what you want, do your research somewhere else, and then pull the trigger on a low price with CWC. Some of the prices on CWC are unbeatable, and some are beatable. Use that to your advantage.
  10. Hey guys. Considering getting a set. My bike runs quick release front and rear. No thru axle. Will they be compatible? Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
  11. Hey CWC. Will you be having a March pay day sale? When? I need to buy a new wheelset Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
  12. Hi all. Considering buying an AMC standard 29r wheelset. Like the weight, but a little worried about the durability... I'm 85kg. Any current users or reviews.? Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
  13. This is a hot bike. I'll probably have to look for a second hand one eventually, coz probably gonna cost a packet due to supply and demand in SA.
  14. Just a bump on this thread. Please, if you can, and use the Spruit regularly, make a donation? Spruit Maintenance Bank Account Name: Spruit Trail Nedbank current account: 1053887086 Branch code: 198765 Reference: your email address
  15. Thanks, donation made. Guys, the North bound route of the spruit is awesome, but has seriously taken a battering! We need to donate so that route can become more accessible again to riders, walkers and runners not only for our enjoyment, but so it can become busy enough for a certain amount of safety. Even if you can only donate 10 bucks. If all of us who use the spruit just give 10 bucks, that will be 1000's. Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
  16. Nope, finally discovered after resetting all my gears... Rear derailleur hanging skew. Eish Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
  17. You mean the reliable part of the bike? haha. luckily italian bikes are not like italian cars
  18. Digging a bit deeper, so many of the rules take this absurd leap of portraying fashion preferences as commandments. Let’s be clear: When it comes to sock length, sunglass choices, saddle and bar-tape coordination, recreational use of pro-team kit, weather thresholds for wearing shoe covers or a vest, and countless other personal or inconsequential choices that cyclists make, a few middle-aged white guys who do semi-hard rides on Sundays and maintain a web site don’t get to make the rules. Riders do. You do.
  19. They are a good laugh. And as much as I hate to admit it, I somehow subconsciously try to abide by some of them... especially socks One rule which is absolutely real, and the accompanying video (hilarious) is HTFU. That rule has taught me a lot whilst out on the bike. People ask me things like 'arent you going to get wet in that storm outside?', 'doesnt it hurt your backside?', 'arent you afraid of being knocked over?'... The answer is YES, HTFU
  20. Ya, I think... its the chain trying to 'slip' up or down onto the next chainring...
  21. Ya I must probably rule out the rear derailleur settings by adjusting the gears again... my cassette doesnt seem worn, but I should also get the chain length checked out... Its been awhile.
  22. Hey all! I initially thought the occasional loud CREAK I was getting when kinda pushing it a bit hard was coming from my crank or BB. But after tightening and lubing the crank and BB, the creak is still there and sometimes actually results in a rear derailleur shift. So I'm thinking it's actually a derailleur or chain problem, not a crank problem... But has anyone else experienced this? Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
  23. I cant cut and paste the picture in this thread. However, look at the first picture where they are manualling on the tar... look under the water bottles on the surface of the frame closest to the road (undercarriage)... no branding, just white and mud... whilst the rest of the bike actually looks pretty clean and spiffy
  24. Interesting to notice that in two separate photos, the undercarriage of the frame is painted differently. I do hope they stick with the black and 'Pyga' bottom rather than the all clear white... My bike has a mostly white undercarriage, and it looks so dirty so quickly. the black and branded undercarriage will look awesome, even once mud and dirt has caked it a bit. Just my 2c
