  1. Not sure if it's been mentioned. But the Grotto and Trilby trails at All out Adventures are also supreme. Northern Drakensberg Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk

  3. Wow that looks incredible... damn you Cape, you so far away
  4. Check out this route on Strava: https://www.strava.com/routes/2417813 — 2 hour ride on the Spruit
  5. Hey. Onza Canis vs Maxxis ikon? Opinions?
  6. Hi all. I think my rear Geax Saguaro is close to, or already kaput, with a sidewall puncture. Question is, if the bikeshop cant revive the Saguaro, I am looking at replacing it with one of the following: Maxxis Crossmark (29x 2.1) LUST- old tyre with okayish tread and life still in it Maxxis Ikon(29 x 2.2) - 3C/EXO/TR - brand new R570 Onza Canis (29 x 2.25) - brand new R640 With this bike, I do some trail riding and commuting to work on sidepaths. So nothing insanely technical or rocky, but I do want the tyre to hold up well, maintain its tread for a reasonable period, handle itself sufficiently well on moderately technical trails, and not be super heavy. What ya think?

  8. ya thanks for the advice, he's going in to try out some demo saddles if the bike shop doesnt have an assometer.
  9. Restarting the thread... my brother wears a size 32 pants (relatively slightly built)... would a 143 mm saddle prove too wide, for those 32 sized men out there? Want to get him a Specialized Henge 143 saddle... (in my experience, the most comfortable). he is a relatively new to cycling
  10. Think they were chatting about this on another thread, but I am sure you can find out the necessary info from the Trailhead cycle shop at Fratelli's, because I am sure there is a mutual relationship between the Trailhead and the Spruit Fairies
  11. haha, ya a few of those river crossings, and the soil erosion in some parts cant necessarily be classified as technical, but are "sphincter puckering" nonetheless. Did you fall off on that narrow step going under William Nicol? Or over the concrete strip connected rocks just after william nicol on the way to emmarentia? because its quite a fall under William Nicol.. and its so damn narrow
  12. And just my 2cents worth, thanks for the upgrades to the entrance and exit over the slippery stream there near the Scout Hall. I feel it makes a huge difference to my confidence going over the stream! Perhaps some of the hardcore okes may not agree, but i have been wanting an upgrade like that for a while... have seen plenty of guys slip and fall there.
  13. Thanks for the advice. I am not starting this too young am I? at 11 months old? Obviously won't be crushing the single track or anything with him on the bike, just want to take him for casual rides.
  14. Hi all. Completely new to this thread. My lightie is 11 months old and I want to start taking him on my bike carrier. I got this ( pic attached) from a friend who just gave it to me. Is this the only piece? Or am I missing any support pieces/struts etc? I assume it just clamps onto the seatpost...
  15. All Out Adventures is definitely one of the most beautiful trails I have had the pleasure of riding! The Trilby and Grotto Trail especially...
  16. VG's looking good! Interesting bike... Is it like a cross-over ?
  17. Ya there are also a couple of forestry roads between the Mbazwana shopping complex (I'm being generous here) and Lake Sibaya on which you can get good, decent mileage without having to traverse hectically thick beach sand. When travelling back to Mbazwana Spar from the beach, instead of swinging a left to the spar at Jock Morrison, carry on going straight past the "clinic" and the liquor store and you'll arrive at a stop street. Turn right at that stop street and thats the beginning of the forestry roads.
  18. Sani Spoors is an amazing trail in the Drakensberg.. probably one of the best! Properly fun. Northern Berg = All out Adventures The Trilby and Grotto Trail Central Berg = Dragons Peak and Mountain Splendour Underberg = Sani Spoors
  19. Thanks all for the helpful replies!
  20. Hi All The wiring on my Shimano Flight Deck SC6500 (2002 model) was cut when it was removed from the old bike. I have just been informed by my LBS that they will be unavailable to repair, or replace, the wiring as it is so old. So i have been tasked to find a new wiring kit for it. Does anyone know a possible stockist of such wiring kits, even if perhaps you have one? And is the LBS correct that the wiring cannot be repaired? Byron
  21. Hi all I am a MTB'er, but do occasionally enjoy a road ride and regularly complete the 94.7. I am looking to upgrade slightly from my 2002 Trek 1000 Alpha series to a bike with decent components and relatively light weight. I have found two deals that catch my eye. An OCR1 from 2007 for R6000 vs a SCR1 from 2008 for R4250. I don't mind spending a little more on the OCR1 if it's a better bike? Here are the specs for the OCR: Frame - Giant OCR 1 with carbon rear triangle Fork - Giant Carbon Aero Composite Crank - Dura Ace with Dura Ace BB Shifters and Brake levers - Shimano Ultegra Front derailleur - Shimano 105 Rear derailleur - Shimano Ultegra 10 Speed Rims - Giant (DT Swiss) Brakes - Shimano 105 Saddle - Specialized Gel Toupe Handle Bar - Giant Connet with Giant Connect Stem Seat Post - Giant Carbon Size - Large And here are the specs for the SCR 1: ALLUXX frame, carbon fork, FSA Gossamer Crank, Shimano 105 drivetrain, Fizik saddle I am also not sure how they compare weight wise ?
  22. I have been so impressed over the past year at this adventure venue. My love for this place started with last year's warrior race, and I have returned again and again with my MTB. The quality of the trails is exceptionally balanced between distance, technicality and fun. They have been continually and consistently upgrading and lengthening the trails whilst ensuring good signage and maintenance on the existing ones. Many MTBers love the yellow route for its flow and moderate challenge, and so do I. But today I rode the upgraded red and black route. Wow. Those trails have become so enjoyable through flow, challenging gradients, strategic rock drop-offs, dips, tight downhill dipped corners, river crossings, etc. My lungs we're bust after those 20kms! And only an average speed of 12.6. If you have not tried out Hero Adventure park, you really must give it a go!! Ps. They're really active on Facebook as well.
  23. Thank you for the hard work. Much appreciated. As a Spruit Rider, clean-up days like these are gold and so valued. Ya, those refuse bags and tree stumps in the path were no fun!
