So, I wonder if the CSA are going to be pricks and enforce UCI rule 1.2.019 If the CSA choose not to "grant special exceptions" for PPA races like the Argus, then these races will have to become a alphabet soup only affair, with no licensed riders (elites and vets.) This will only diminish the Argus slightly IMHO. It's the alphabet soup riders that make the race, not the elites. However, during his election campaign Brian Cookson promised to revisit the rule if elected.

Zatec: you can see you seeding index here: results.racetec.co.za/findme.aspx?ss=1 . It's ppa branding, but I'm quite certain that they use the same data for non ppa, racetec races. I'm sure if you compare you index to others in your group, I'm sure you will find they are similar. If you index is lower than you think it should be, get an understanding of the maths, and I'm sure you will figure out a way to improve it (generally ride faster in races, but I've also some other tactics, like ride in smaller races.)

The mount makes 3 contact points:at the top of the stem, the 2 small cylinders for the bolts for the handle bar clamp, and the steer post cap. It does not touch the main cylindrical part of the stem. 3 points makes a plane, so there is no twisting. (The insulation tap is taut though anyway.)

I done just 1 Argus before in '98 when I was 17. I'm looking forward to doing it this year. Some questions: If the wind is strong, does it tend to split bunches? Are there more breakaways? I have a work colleague who is based in CT, doing the Argus for the first time. I'd like to maybe to a second lap with him. Time should not be a problem as he is starting in OC. Are second laps allowed? I know that they won't let you into the starting area, but can you bypass the start and pick up the route?

Why? Should people with out guns have to earn the respect of people with guns, lest they get shot? This may be the case, but this is not the type of society I want to live in. Imagine you are walking on the side walk, you get in someones way, and so they start swinging a knife at you. This is what these motorist are doing. The motorists are putting the cyclist lives at risk. The fact that the cyclists are being inconsiderate, it dose not make it ok.

I took a car window mount for the S2, removed the window sucker, and the charger plug, bit of double sided tape + insulation tape, and bobs your uncle.... When I think its going to rain, I put it in a zip lock bag. It still fits in to the mount (just), and the touch screen still works thorugh the bag. Running AOKP and My Tracks, with gsm, wireless, and bluetooth off, I've recoreded upto 12 hours before the battery goes flat. P.S. the best app imho: Google My Tracks

Yes, That would also explain then large number of licensed riders bitching that the are in open seeded groups.

The issue that the op was raising was not the seeding, but the lack of/small gaps between groups.

Not sure. I got the group times from www.cycletour.co.za/index.php/information/start-times/ . I watch that to see if they change.
