  1. Ended up just getting a Bell Sanction! Half the price anyway... And i decided to get a new shirt and gloves. Since I lost one glove at the last downhill event
  2. Did see that, which makes me lean towards the MET. But I'm not gonna ride with a helmet with padding sticking out the side of my face
  3. Thanks for the responses guys. I currently race enduro and downhill, so I need something for both, and thought one of these would be the answer. I currently have a MET helmet, but it's not a half-lid or anything. Next year I'm gonna be travelling around the world with my new bike, Canyon Strive, and will be riding bike parks all over the place. So I think I will need some sort of full face, maybe I should just go for the real thing?
  4. Anybody got any opinions on the MET parachute and the Bell Super 2r? Trying to decide between the two. I believe the MET has better certification for downhill, but to be honest I'm trying to decide which one looks better? What worries me about the MET is that the padding seems to stick out the chin guard thing
  5. Going to europe
  6. I will hopefully have one of these in a few months
  7. I use a russell hobbs semi-automatic machine, cost me 1k.... With a Hario hand burr grinder that cost me around 500... Have not seen anything in that price range that can compare!!! Granted it really can't compare to a proper Semi-Automatic machine for around 10k, like a Rancilio Silvia which I will own at some point in time. But it makes better coffee than most automatic machines for under 10k It's mostly about the barista after all!!!
  8. I'll weigh in on the craft beer side of things, because I'm sure everyone has heard of Heineken and Castle lite before. Citizen breweries is the best! Specifically Alliance, I've tried a lot of craft beers and this one is easily my favourite. PS: Craft beer festival in Durban next weekend 9th August
  9. Not expecting the Online bike shop to pay the courier fees, no way, the supplier (or importer) should pay in my mind. Since they've provided a product that lacks sufficient quality, therefore penalties should be their burden. But I can see the flipside, cost of returns for ecommerce are not really factored into pricing of items, so it would ultimately push up the price of the item online. I guess this is the downside of online shopping, at least now I'm aware of this for when I make future online purchases.
  10. Indeed they do, this is a seperate issue altogether though. Okay so looks like I'll have to pay courier costs to them at least, shouldn't be too much. Just wanted to find out what the correct procedure is and I'm not paying any money unnecessarily.
  11. Done a bit more reading and apparently under s56 of the CPA, apparently I should pay no penalty for returning the item. i.e. I should not be liable for cost of return. I live in durban and the online shop in question is from cape town. Don't want to mention their name just yet and give them bad rep on anything, cause they haven't done anything wrong yet. Just trying to find out my rights... so to speak.
  12. Hi Guys Not sure if this has been discussed before, couldn't find a similar topic despite searching. Anyway this is sort of a rant, not at any bike shop in particular, but more with the system I guess or the CPA. So I bought a KS dropper post and now it's defective, so it's within warranty and I want to return it for repair/replacement etc. Now apparently I have to pay the courier cost to return it to the online shop/supplier. This doesn't really seem fair to me, they should pay for it since it is a defect and in essence the problem has been caused by them. (But I did read online that apparently according to the CPA and ECT act that it is my responsibility to pay for the return). I dunno if anyone has any experience with this or 2c to share on this matter. Cheers Nick
  13. Tks for the advice, will do...
  14. You don't think I'll have problems with not being the original owner?
  15. Bike doesn't sound worth upgrading, rather sell it on gumtree (doubt it will sell on here), and find a good second hand deal. Some really good deals go around if you keep your eyes open. Upgrading will work out more expensively, and you have to worry about compatibility of parts and pay someone to put it together if you're not doing it yourself. Above that I doubt anybody will buy the parts you're taking off, whereas leaving the bike complete it will sell I reckon
  16. So... I have a small dilemma Took the bike for a spin this weekend, to suss out the dropper post. Worked okay for a while, then it developed like 0.5 - 1inch sag kinda thing??? Did some reading, apparently tons of people have experienced it, and KS usually fixed it by replacing the dampner cartridge. Anyway point being I just bought it, and it is defective basically. The seller provided me with a receipt from Evobikes, which is about 2-3months old. Should I contact the seller or just deal with Evobikes directly? Thanks
  17. This will answer all your questions about the spread on different gearing options: http://sheldonbrown.com/gears/ XX1 with 34t up front : 6.9 - 1.6 38/24t with a 11-36 cassette : 7.0 - 1.3 So top end very similar, but your "granny gear" on the 2x10 will be easier. I'd go 1x11 any day of the week, just expensive!
  18. Would anyone be interested in the following parts if I did sell them, all in good nick. 32t RaceFace Narrow Wide chainring (probably 500kms or less on it) 60mm Raceface Respond stem (looks as good as new) 720mm Spank Oozy Riser Bars - 30mm rise (got a few small scuffs and what not).
  19. Haven't had the chance to ride it on the trails, but when setting it up on my bike it felt more ergonomical than the correct way around. Also helped keep the cable from the level out of the way... No doubt I will report back on here how a dropper post has revolutionised my riding in the coming weeks, so will see how this lever orientation goes. How does that shifter hack work in reality, is it better? The KS lever is pretty nice I've found
  20. Some indie music for those of you who are into that. Although I'll find it hard to believe that anyone can not like this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsoqmFL1vlU
  21. Yeah gonna do a bleed and check life on pads first, then consider upsizing, I can't see what the cons of upsizing are besides weight? Want to go as short as possible on the stem, 35-40mm looks shortest. I like the more direct steering. There are some spank spoon 760mm bars for sale here on the hub, may make an offer on them. Where are these available locally? I'm 84kgs heading towards 90kg (gym), not sure if that classifies as heavy? I guess by cycling standards it probably is.
  22. Thanks man... Yeah not really getting the performance out of them that I want, will bleed them this week and take it from there.
  23. Still a few things I would like to consider updating... Running a 60mm stem and 720mm bars Would like to maybe go down to 30mm stem or there arounds, and a 760mm bar. Gearing, I want to get a 42t cog for the cassette, and then change my front from 32t to 34t. At the moment I don't have enough spread on the gears, but it's been generally fine for enduro race runs. Its just the climbing mostly that I can't do. Thinking of upsizing the brakes a bit. Wanna go 180mm on the back, currently 180mm on the front and thinking that 203mm may be a bit overkill... not too sure!
  24. I know this thread is pretty old, but I figured I would put some of my bike updates on here... I've upgraded the front fork: Got a 2013 Rockshox Revelation RLT 140mm from CWC for R3k brand new, what a steal. Nearly half kilo lighter than the Sektor DPC as well... And just yesterday I finally managed to get a dropper post. Picked up a pretty new KS Lev here on the forum for a good price. So I fitted that last night, now I just gotta go try it out.
  25. Yes, throw in the enduro/downhill trail you guys built!!! Best trail I've ridden at Giba
