  1. Nice jazzy setup. I play jazzy music but still like a more traditional setup. Also have a meinl block setup on my kick. Playing pro dominantly black American gospel was quite a shift from the punk I played with school mates.
  2. I was too hard on my splashes so just started playing with a small 10" crash and a larger 16" K custom fast crash. The Swingstars are also Birch. Sounds great with Remo pinstripes
  3. I havent played for about 2 years. Played in church. My Kit: Tama Swingstar Hyperdrive Tama Aluminum snare K custom Crash Z custom Ride Custom jazz Hi-Hats DW 5000 hi-hat and bass pedals All mic'd with Shure Betas
  4. If anyone is interested in getting into BMX racing there will be an event at the Kempton track this Sunday. Its a "fun race" so any bike is welcome. 5. Flying to Wellington via Sydney on 2 Feb. Just going for 10 days to visit family and attend a wedding,
  6. I know the distributor for Strider. Will ask him if he still has stock available. I have a strider that’s been through 2 boys and it’s still in relatively good condition. Only ever changed the grips.
  7. I still reckon someone needs to give Combrink a shot at 15. He has the aerial skills, defensive and attacking ability to be one of the best in the world. He reminds me a lot of Ben Smith in his playing style.
  8. We're going to Wellington and we are not Vitality members. The cheapest Emirates flight we could find to Wellington was almost R25k. Same with Quantus but they run a buy one get one free special every year that brings the ticket with taxes down to just below 15k. If we could stay with mates we would have. Remember we are going for a wedding so many people are going and not everyone can stay with the bride and groom. If you don't have family/friends couches to sleep on, NZL is expensive.
  9. We are going in Feb for a wedding. Waited for Quantus to run their specials and got a return flight at 15k per person. Accomodation is hella expensive. Got a place on AirBnB and we are paying close on 3k a night for the 2 of us. So all in we are looking at 60k without visas(R2500p/p) car rental or spending.
  10. Steph will start at 5 and Dwayne at 7 with Whiteley at 8. I think Lood will come on at 5 with 30 min or so to go
  11. Stepping up to slightly bigger jumps. This is at Eduplex. He cleared the first 3 jumps on the small jumpline but I only recorded when he cleared the first one. Kid has some balls for a 6 yr old. It took me a while before I attempted the tabletop. https://www.facebook.com/mark.pretorius1/videos/10156698327309462/?notif_id=1540740659380889&notif_t=feedback_reaction_generic
  12. Also once cleaned after your cooking, cover the inside with some vegetable oil. I cook with cast iron a lot and there is no better taste than a primed cast iron pot. Never use cemicals. Always vegetable oils. The more you cook in it the better it gets.
  13. Nah. Just put water 2/3 of the pot and get it really hot to the boil. Chuck the water out and smeer the pot with some vegetable oil (sunflower or canola, something cheap). Put it back in the fire and let the oil heat up until it smokes. Wipe it with a paper towel and then smeer it again with the oil. Primed pot ready for action.
  14. I had a similar one with short socks and only needed 3 stitches. Short socks FTW
  15. Some jump practice at the Rhino and Lion park. https://www.facebook.com/mark.pretorius1/videos/10156614061764462/?notif_id=1537721422670833&notif_t=feedback_reaction_generic
  16. I share in your sarcasm. The fact that we don’t have an out-and-out 14 or even fetcher on the field frustrates the **** outta me. And Jantjies and De Allende will never work as a combo. I thought that Rassie was gonna pick Pollard at 12. With Marx on the bench and Am out of the picture we have zero breakdown disruption in the team.
  17. Funny you mention that he can't find his jumpers. I don't think it is all Marx. Just check the SuperRugby stats. Most lineouts won by a team is Lions. Most Lineouts for an individual is Mostert. I don't think the problem with the Boks is the selection of certain players but rather the combination of players that will never work together.
  18. Here is a close up of the dark wood:
  19. So at what price could I sell the chairs? From my research on gumtree and antique shops it looks like a retail price around R600-R800 a chair.
  20. It could be Blackwood. I have zero knowledge of wood species. It matches my Kiaat table pretty well so assumed it would be Kiaat. My table is heavily stained though.
  21. Thanks. The set comes from brother in-law’s grandfather. He was the governor of the Orange Free State and this is from his farmhouse. They kept the table and found fancier antique chairs for it so I got these as a gift a while ago. I was going to get a bigger table so kept all the chairs. I now don’t think I need a bigger table as I have a 12 seater in my braai area and we tend to entertain there.
  22. Some pics
  23. I have 6 Riempie chairs. I think they are Kiaat and Yellow Wood. My sister gave me a set of 12 but my table only caters for 6. They were very recently restrung and in great condition. Thought I’d post here to see if anyone would be interested. I’ll post a picture this evening.
  24. Steyn never made it onto a plane and is still in France. Die Lang ellende should be replaced by Esterhuyzen. I’m also going to predict a possible start for Jantjies and Brits. I’m a lions supporter and don’t even want Jantjies to start in SuperRugby but I’m predicting a “combination” shot for him. He was at his best when starting with Faf.
  25. Got my 3 yr old riding just a week after his birthday. He refuses to ride if I dont make the bmx gate sounds.
