  2. I agree, that Fox lever is one big ass lever which they could not make any uglier. It takes over your whole handlebar! If you want someting that looks neat and compact, try the Twinlock lever from Scott. It also has 3 settings and works perfectly for the CTD adjustments!
  3. There are millions of debates, threads and fights right here on the hub about 29ers vs 26ers. Please dont start another. The hype is over and the proof is in the pudding. There is a reason why many manufacturers have stopped producing and bringing in 26ers. For your length, 29er, you will thank me later. I am 4cm shorter than you with the same inseam roughly and I never felt like any XL 26er was ever big enough. Hopefully I never have to ride a 26er ever again, luckily I know I will never buy a 26er ever again. A word of caution though, if you consider Titan, keep in mind that their XL is just a tad bigger than Merida's L (21") and not equivalent to a Merida XL (23").
  4. The Tallboy 2 frame and Fox CTD rear shock retails for R33 835. But pop in with your Lynskey and we will give you a better price while building it over to the Tallboy. Wait ... aren't we busy doing exactly that right now? What is the plan for the beautiful Lynskey going forward? It has SingleSpeed with rigid carbon fork ridden all over it! (I can help with that also! )
  5. Also true!
  6. These bad boys are not like any other bike. You dont just walk into a shop and walk out with one. They dont come pre-packaged with wheelsets and groupsets with different specs and models like all the other brands does. You buy the frame only and build it up from there. Very few of these will end up looking exactly the same. They offer individuality. It requires planning and is all down to your personal preference and what you dream about. You can even tell me what colour nipples to use or what colour valve caps, spacer, crank bolts ... what ever your heart desires! So ... what would you like on your build?
  7. The white frame ... in lewende lywe!
  8. Going back even further, it was also carbon. All soft spots eliminated now!
  9. Well spotted, had a look through my archive and it does seem like it changed from carbon to alloy. The pivots at the grease points were alloy on the previous model also. Build from last year:

  11. Anyone watching Fringe? Feeling slightly addicted Olivia Dunham, Peter and his father (mad scientist that expierimented with mind altering drugs and techniques during the 60ies ... and still does) Walter, parallel universes, crime solving, comedy, saving the world and science and a little bit of science fiction I suppose. I dont like science fiction much and luckily neither does Walter. He has a scientific answer for all the unexplainable things happening but I would not go as far as to call his thinking perfectly logical! We finished watching season 3 a couple of nights ago now to download 4 & 5!
  12. To be honest, I dont know the weight differences between the alloy and carbon. Only ever built and played with the carbon ones. I am sure the alloy will also be an amazing bike but would you not be thinking "damit, I should have gone carbon!" the whole time? I would Carbon can take a massive beating, no need to worry. Sending PM
  13. Tip #1 Service your bike two weeks in advance. That way you can get a couple of test rides in to check that everything is 100% That way you also avoid the rush when everyone suddenly swamps their Lbs the week before, some even leave it till Friday!!
  14. I'll try and explain. Santa Cruz is such an awesome inovative company, they dont work according to year models but seasons. For instance, on last seasons Tallboy they received feedback from their riders/fans on how the frame can be improved. We saw the cable routing change and the addition od the 142x12mm rear axle. All that in the same season on that model. Some of the other manufacturers will have a model for a year and discover improvements during that year but will not add the changed during that year of production but wait until next year. The Tallboy 2 has an improved suspension system, the VPP, also with bigger uprights. Increased stiffness and weight reduced. A change in sizing means they can now offer the Tallboy in a Small, previously only Medium and bigger. I have already mentioned the rubber frame protection and internal dropper cable. With your Xt build, what other components to you want? Wheels, bar, stem, saddle, tires etc? Thats the beauty of it, you spec it the way you want!
  15. oh yea, dont forget the Tallboy 2 LT
  16. same as before no?
  17. But a 34/28 (31) is nothing close to a 39/27 (37.9) You do not need anything more than a 11/23 on a 50/34 compact crankset. If you need a 11/27 or 11/28 on a standard crankset, then you most probably need a compact crankset! 50/11 (119.7) is also close to 53/12 (116.2)
  18. Different stokes for different folks for sure. I tried, I really did but compact just does not work for me. Had 53/39 for as long as I remember. Decides to try 50/34, that lasted a week, quickly went to 52/36 and that lasted about a month. 52/36 with 11/23 was much better than 50/34. I just could not get up to speed and it felt like I was never going to get into such a high spinning cadence in 34 - 23. Moved over to rotor rings 54/40 with 11/25 and felt puuuuurfect ever since! Those have been on for about three years now. Only sad thing is that I need to replace them soon, their time has come. Oh yea, Froome doesnt run!
  19. He wants to go faster, thats why a bigger chainring 52 Do you have any idea how crazy you spin in 34 28 ... without actually going anywhere? Plus on a compact crank, you want compact gearing. On a 11/28 the gaps between the gears are greater and you battle to find that comfortable cadence you are looking for
  20. What is in porting? Like in breeding but with port?
  21. That is correct Compact Crank = 110mm BCD with 50/34 chainrings normally Standard Crank = 130mm BCD with 53/39 chainrings normally Then new Ultegra cranks has a 110mm BCD with the option of either 50/34 or 53/39. Fabs, if you want a 52/34 setup, it is possible on a compact crank. Just buy a 52 chainring blade with 110mm BCD. FSA makes them.
  22. If it was up to me I would spend a week with these bikes ... perfecting the build but the clients come knocking waaay before then! It is not the initial 40min that is the problem, it is those 40min you sukkel at home or after a stage or when you quickly want to replace cables, that's the pain
  23. also available in white
