  1. Thanks Cox From the photos it looks like mini Tour De Polkadraai!
  2. Pasop, jy gaan die sprints heeltemal mis as jy so aan jou nuwe tjerrie sit en dink! Ry sy fiets?
  3. Awesome job Wayne and Lights by Linea. Looks well organised from the photos! Just been wondering what the 3 different jerseys are? Yellow = Overall series Leader Green = Points leader? Are there sprint points during the race or only at the finish? White = I dont know ... climber, youngest newcomber?
  4. Thats the pitfall with the very low end spectrum stuff, it needs to be dialed in much more fequently! The R75 no name jockey on the Game bike is probably going to snap in half before you can say XT
  5. Buy, like you did, save, sell ... then upgrade!
  6. I dont think we should quote you on anything! Ergofit includes the setup of the bike. Handing someone a piece of paper to go and fiddle with their own bikes when they clearly have no idea what setback, drop or rise means ... its not part of the deal. Some angles and measures needs to be fine tuned when the person is sitting on the bike. The numbers that the system spits out, needs to be checked and fine tuned ... and a computer cant beat experience. Or see the person in the position on the bike. I completed the Ergofit setup training with Dr Swart and Line Griffiths (Biokineticist). Typical pricing is more in the line of R550 for Ergofit and R850 for Ergomax
  7. If you buy a bike with the intention of slowly upgrading the parts ... rather save and buy a better specked model. It always works out much more expensive to upgrade than just getting the next model. I am not sure what you paid for your secondhand parts, JWF, but new you would look at an estimate SLX Crank - R2000 XT Rear Deraileur - R900 Cheap nothing fancy wheelset - R3000 XT Shifters - R1000 That is around R7k without upgrading the Fork to Air (R4000) or chain, or cassette to 10 speed. For the R5k you spent + R7 in upgrades = R13k you can buy a bike with all those components + an Air Fork. The only 29er I can think of that comes close to R5k will be Avalanhce XX1X with Acera 24 speed spec and mechanical disk brakes.
  8. She's a beaut, where did you get her? Looks to be about the right size too!
  9. It is Cape Town based. Most articles, LBS's and regulars Meurant Botha, Stirling Kotze and David George, are Cape Town based. I saw quite a lot of shops on the delivery list when they delivered earlier this week. Think it has been going since late last year already. So not bad at all for a free newspaper. One thing though, the guy that reviewed the Pinarello Dogma XC 29er, did not know that Pinarello manufactured mountain bikes??? I rode this bike August 2012 already. Guess what I am trying to say is, I will gladly accept the test bikes, ride them for a year and write a review ... for free! Keep up the good work guys!
  10. So a normal bike then? The main differences are that ladies bikes are normally a tad smaller and the top tube might be more compact. This type of geometry of the top tube makes it easier for the ladies to get over the top tube. Sometimes they will chuck in a ladies saddle and narrower handlebars ... but that is about it really. The rest of the "gears and stuff" (groupset) is exactly the same as you would find on other bikes. They come in different specs with different prices. If you like the pretty colour of the ladies bike or "non-ladies specific bike" ... go with the one which offers best feel, components and look. (In that order, would be my personal preference but ladies seem to prefer, look, feel and lastly components) Your bike, you choose it, you ride it. Enjoy
  11. Two Irishmen were sitting in a pub watching the Tour de France on TV. Seamus shook his head and asked, "Whoi t'e hell do they do that?" "Do what?" asked Mick. "Go on them boikes for moiles and moiles, up and down t'e hills, round t'e bends. Day after day, week after week. No matter if it's oicy, rainin’, snowin’, hailin’ . .. . why would they torture themselves like that?" "Tis all for the prestige and the money," replied Mick, "You know the winner gets about a half a million Euros”. "Yeah, I understand that." said Seamus, "But why do all the others do it?"
  12. The amount of bikes stollen is Stellenbosh is shocking! I think they are close to busting open a syndicate, some bikes have been recovered but the case is still ongoing. Talking about busting open, those coil locks are appearantly quite easy to open with a few hard knocks with a hammer. It is just as easy to saw through those coil locks. Tried it myself once when I lost the key. I was totally amazed how easy it was, took me a full 20 seconds using a normal old ystersaag! The U-lock seems to be the strongest of them all. On the go - excuse typo's!
  13. 57.5cm ... Pinarello does one in that size.
  14. He ate from Porte's pocket. Porte went back to the car, took the food and stuck it in his back pocket. It was very clear on TV how Porte reached into his back pocket and handed Froome a bar/gel.
  15. So "Richie Froome" and team mate Richie Porte were both given a 20sec penalty and hefty fine for the feeding stunt they pulled yesterday. Normally you are allowed to feed from the cars up to 25km to go but yesterday 6km to go was the cut off. Froome needed some vroome and wisely sent Porte to the car to fetch some food for him. (4.something km's to go) I feel that it was a bit unfair to penalize Froome as he was not the one taking the food from the car, he took it from Porte. He did not gain an advantage at this point through his actions either ... although he might have lost some time if he didnt take in food. Are the UCI now going to start telling you when and when not you can eat? I'm all for the dont feed from cars within the last 20km's ... but if a man wants to eat, let him eat!
  16. How many more times is Mr Liggett going to refer to Chris Froome as Richie Porte? I must say I like it more when Liggett calls him Richie Froome ... almost like a married couple! Hats of to Mr Porte ... he is the super domestique of the tour no doubt !
  17. Those skewers you are referring to there is intended for track use, where QR skewers are not allowed. Some guys use converted road bikes on the track and they need these types of skewers. Sure, you can use them for road or mtb as well but the QR versions are much more convenient when you need to remove a wheel. The Aest skewers has a piece of plastic between the QR lever and spring which keeps breaking it seems
  18. Not sure about Fox but last time I ordered black Rock Shox lowers for a client it was around R1 800 if memory serves me correctly.
  19. Fans have caused crashes before ... flag into Lance's wheel, twice that dogs walked into the peloton causing crashes. A rider was punched in the stomach by a fan, the rider went back later and found the fan and gave him some of his own medicine. Contador punched a fan that was running next to him, that fan deserved that punch! Some fans took the piss out of Cavendish. Lunatics will be lunatics and lunatics will be part of the tour (or any other sport/event)
  20. Cool ja. I need a compressor and want a welding machine
  21. Sagan has to suck Cav's wheel ... but I think this is Cav's stage
  22. Your girlfriend has a compressor?
  23. Ek is geskroef na so n ou klein valletjie, was is was lanklaas in die wereld. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/126632-random-bike-accidents/page__st__32__gopid__1989127#entry1989127 strue
  24. Nice work by Cav. If you cant outsprint Kittel ... outfox him!
