    Argus 2014

I can email you the details. I am involved with the Chaeli Campaign and have been since 2009. They have a start group within the charity groups and around 200 riders every year. Start time is around 8am "ish". They do amazing work for kids with disabilaties. Provide them with assistive devices, provide an early learning centre and loads loads more! I will be doing my 10th Argus in this group next year! Chaeli will also be in the group herself, being towed in a buggy by a stong and brave rider, hoping to complete their 2nd Argus. Myself and SupremeLady are entered into the 2014 Cape Epic as Chaeli Riders for the Chaeli Campaign in the mixed category. Check out our FB page. www.facebook.com/chaeliCapeEpic. We have sponsorship oportunities available at the Argus and the Epic. Including the branding of the 200 riders at the Argus. Feel free to PM me for more info!
  4. This sick oak must have a cousin that lives in Stellenbosch! Saddles disapear here like crazy!
  5. This issue is not picking up the satelite signal. With the last 500 software update the clever techies at Garmin wanted to include some software that identify the unit and make it easier for the to log the service history of the unit. This somehow prolongs the unit to "search" or "log" onto the satelites. With the latest software this process just takes longer when you start the unit. It makes no difference to the signal quality once logged on. I have never had any signal problems and I Always ride on GPS signal only. I rolled back to the previous version of software on the 500 because I want it locked and loaded as soon as I turn her on!
  6. Live tracking & uploading to Garmin Connect via phone is not the only upgrade you get when going from the 500 to the 510. Some of the other nice features you only realize when you start using the 510. For a gadget freek like myself, 510, hands down. On the 510: Add up to 10 bike profiles (3 on the 500) Touch Screen Colour Screen Setup different profiles for Racing & Training Personal Records Shortcuts to switch profiles is much easier than 500 Changing Display info is as easy, press + hold and choose your new info option. Virtual partner is back (used to be on the 305 but not the 500) Choose to Save or Discard rides after pressing stop. (I Like this cause sometimes I test a lot stuff I dont wanna save!) There are a lot if small differences that makes the 510 great! Those that say the 510 is not worth the extra R1000 has obviously not had the 510 in their hands ... or they had but did not switch it on!
  7. In that photo it WAS ja, caught my attention when taking the snaps. The flat side must be on top, like it is but the small point of the link, is now facing backwards.
  8. It rides awesomely, no vibrations and rock solid! One thing you learn very quickly with a rigid fork ... pick your line fast ... and stick to it! We take for granted what comfort and plushness forks and suspensions offer but you realize very quickly once it is gone!
  9. I am certain my ankle would not be broke had I been wearing a pair of these during my last mtb crash!
  10. I can get the Halflink chains in Gold, Silver, Black or White R300 ex postage Mine, in gold:
  11. Yea I gave it much thought also. I recon not much can happen even if they do bend. If the washers fail, the Stanchions can only move further down into the lowers, until it bottoms out. As long as it doesnt come apart, all is gooood!
  12. tomato tamato Edit: there I fixed them all for ya!
  13. bolts on the inside and outside of lowers: washer on top with locknuts: I did change all the nuts to locknuts in the end
  14. Washers, same size as the stanchion: measured out the correct length Stanchions push down on the washers so there is no travel:
  15. With my last SS project, I decided to use as much parts I had lying around instead of buying new stuff. The main component I needed was a fork. Luckily I had lowers and stanchions from a busted Fox and came up with the idea to convert it to a rigid fork using threaded rod, washers and nuts. This is what I did, it works perfectly and cost me only R47 all in! Stanchions: Busted lowers, cant hold air or oil:
  16. Halflink chain ... thats the BOMB! (and Magic)
  17. Like ... but want one green and one blue!
  18. Nice, like the valve caps!
  19. Yup, Magic Gear. Took me a while to find it! Weird thing was the chain also made a difference. Singlespeed, 8spd or 10 speed did not fit as snugly as a 9 speed! Weird Ja might be, looks similar to the KMC chain seen on the Bianchi's at the Tour
  20. Nope, STI must be triple specific and can not be changed like the mountainbike shifters can. By STD RD you mean standard Rear Derailleur? So no! Your RD wont handle the change to the small front chainring ... that is what a Front Derailleur is for
  21. Love that yellow chain on the Langster, where did you get that from?
  22. Got to agree with DC Rainmaker here: "Coming from the world of extremely well executed GoPro promotional videos that make you want to go right outside and surfboard with the worlds hottest looking athletes (despite never having been on a surfboard, skateboard, or any sort of board), this made me want to close the video and move onto cat videos. Second, the video shots shown with the unit didn’t seem to scream “awesome quality”. This is likely because instead of using inspiring clips from kick-ass places, they used ones from someone’s backyard. It’s all about marketing (a lesson Contour has learned the hard way) – and in this round, Garmin seemed to lose my interest. Thankfully, I’m more of a tech person than a marketing person. So while they lose my interest in the promo video, it’s the ANT+ piece that really interests me. As noted above, lots of folks are using data overlays today with heart rate and related information – but none of it is smooth. The VIRB works by pairing directly to your ANT+ sensors (they can still pair concurrently to your other fitness units). It then records this data in a separate and synchronized file for later consolidation and overlay. It’s not actually overlaying the data in real-time onto the video (that’s actually a good thing). Out of the gate they’ll allow you to include these ANT+ (and internal) metrics: Speed, Distance, Elevation, G-force, Heart Rate, Temperature." With the GPS data, we can speculate a bit less if those youtube clips are real or not!
  23. From Flandria's FB page: "After numerous S.A championships and S.A records over the years Linus van Onselen has just won the UCI Masters World Championship. He won by over 5min and caught all but 7 riders in the age category that started in front of him. Super proud!!!!!!!!!" Baie Geluk Oom Linus!
