  1. Do NOT use Internet Explorer ... EVER!
  2. Tankman

    Burger ride

Old route you mean, its back to the route before the road works past the prison. If you were doing this on Sunday, I woulda been keen!
  3. Had my eye on this bike for a while, if I had an extra R95k lying around ... there would be one in my bike room right now for sure!
  4. Tallboy 1 or 2 ... choose your poison! Replied on your PM thanks!
  5. The change of the vibe within the race I found more significant. Prologue and stage 1 were all business, not too much mucking about going round. Thereafter the oaks seemed more relaxed, chirps, comments and jokes going round. Towards the end, stage 6 & 7, the jokes died down somewhat and the feeling of camaraderie and brotherhood were much more evident. People were encouraging each other, offering words of support and just kinda working/suffering/slogging it out together. Just an awesome experience!
  6. My partner and I packed a case of beers and two bottles of red wine and even looked at each other going ... "is that all?" .. thinking it will be a jol in the race village. We each had two beers in the race village after the prolougue ... and that was that! All we wanted to do after crossing the line every day was eat, have protien shakes, eat, get out of dirty clothes, eat and sleeeeeeep! We made up for it at the finish, we were asked to leave Louensford when the tents were all packed up!
  7. Stage 3 looks like one of those days you would rather do in reverse. From finish to start it looks better than from start to finish
  8. Stage 4 looks spiked ... that the day before the mother forker Stage 5 At least it looks like we get a couple of km's to warm up in the mornings, not like this year where we went straight into brick walls from the gun ... like this one around km 53 on stage 5!
  9. This was the first year Bulls had duals, all the wins they had before were on HardTails. Platt won 4 times on a HT. As for Merida, Hermida rides hardtail, always.
  10. Stage 5 is gonna be painful after 5 days of riding, 2900m (just as bad as stage 6 this year, 2950m, I k@ked!) Rewarded with loads of SingleTrack on Stage 6 but by no means easy!
  11. You'll be running circles around me! And Ill be running my mouth off at endo if it uploads to cycling then!
  12. But ... that sounds crazy for a hardail ... let me confrim!
  13. Looks to be at around R88K For the 0
  14. Been using the Garmin Edge 500 for years. It never use to do this, there was a default setting you could choose in your profile. It changed after they messed about with the site layout and what not. I do exactly that. Endo reads all the workouts in on the device. All the workouts appear in a pop-up window. I select Cycling and save. I have even selected Snowboarding, Kayaking, Rollerblading, and what not in this pop-up windwow but it makes no difference, it still defults to running!
  15. I have stared using Endomondo a whole lot less. Ever so often, once a week, when I do decide to upload my Garmin files to Endomondo, it ask you to choose your sport, I choose > Cycling No matter what I do, it defaults every workout to Running! You have to click on each workout and change it to Cycling and it is p@ssing me off. I know Endomondo is doing this on purpose because they know how much I hate the use of the word Running on a cycling form: "What pressure are you running?" "I am running XT" "What tubeless setup are you running?" "I am running 10speed" etc etc You are not running ... you are using, or you have or you are CYCLING!! :cursing: Ok, so how do I fix Endo to default my workout upload to Cycling? (cant find anything in the settings) I am running out of here, got to get to work!
  16. The dualies of the winners wiv them brain shocks are not really that comfortable, it is a pretty hard ride with a very aggressive setup, they might as well be on hard tails. Sure it would be a bit easier on the body come stage 4 and beyond. But I asked myself if I really wanted to carry an extra 1.3kg over 16 000m of climbing, which will slow me down even more and the answer was a simple NO.
  17. Everyone moans at one point or another during this race! Done it on a hardtail ... doing it on a hardtail again next year ... 29er of course. I thinks the stats for 2013 were that 86% of the field are on 29ers. (64% in 2012 and 23% in 2011) Kinda obvious choice for this cross country event
  18. Check out Sidi's Mega range, it is much wider and this goes up to size 52! http://www.sidisport...&id=59&lng_riv= If you see something you fancy, let me know I can order in!
  19. Go to your HR setting Choose - Hear Rate Monitor > No Switch unit off Switch unit back on HR Settings again Choose - Heart Rate Monitor > Yes > Search (HR strap on chest) That should pair it again and clear all previous errors
  20. Bryton is waaaaaay too far behind to catch up or pass Garmin. Remember their first two units were copies of a certain competitor! Garmin 1 000 000 000 000 : Bryton 0 (they are still lost .... with or without it)
  21. Good question ....
  22. Problem with sticking a sim card in there, you need more functions and then ... well you basically need a phone, with data and airtime and we are back to the phone. Garmin developers said that if they could eliminate the like between phone and the unit, they would but the problem is that internet is not free in most parts of the world. Yea, the 500 is an awesome unit, nice and compact ... its just been upgraded, thats all
  23. Different bike, different disciplines, requires different info. For TT, I dont care much about elevation, much more about power and ave power For Mtb, I dont car much for cadence but much more for elevation. For training, I like seeing all the not so important info but during I only want to focus on what is important We agree, Garmin Disconnect sucks ass big time but I read somewhere that some clever hackers have written a app where you can upload to Strava, Endomondo or wherever you choose. So the bluetooth protocol is there to connect with your smartphone, clever move since we need some sort of internet connectivity to upload gps data to a website, since we are very unlikely to receive free internet in any of the 3rd world countries anytime soon, connecting with a smartphone was probably the best solution. Live tracking works ... just a shame it works on Garmin Disconnect but as I said, some cleaver hackers can make it work on other sites also. Edit: spelling
  24. They offered to exchange it after getting the international warranty no problem ... but they point blank ONLY offered the blue unit un return. I had no choice at the time. Took the blue they offered, sold it and imported the lovely Red ... again!
