  1. Might be a dumb question, but why are there Europeans in a African continental team?
  2. Rapid sports. brilliant bibs. i even do long rides in them.
  3. Mavics are running cartridge hubs. Does that make them a bad choice in wheels?
  4. There are one or two threads about this. But to answer your question, no I wouldnt wear one.
  5. Got a pair of 6600 ultegra calibers from a fellow hubber to replace my tekras. I cannot overstate the difference. Its insane!
  6. Go to the the garage on the corner of bottelary and klipheuwel/stellenbosch road. There is a hunting sports place next to the caltex garage. Otherwise in cental cape town there is also a good gunshop with a shooting range. My brother owns a glock and carries it concealed in a 'manbag' made especially for a weapon. In the front it has normal carry space for wallets, books etc. and in the back pocket (zipped) it has a holster. Very snazzy
  7. Check either Rapid sports, or First Accent. Or here: http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/craft-active-bike-convert-jacket
  8. As promised, here are the photos. Did our first 20min high intensity session with GCN tonight. Eina. Thanks again to Ed, Dibs and Vlad. Great guys these lot! Cheers.
  9. Second trainer has arrived thanks to Vlad! Thank you hubbers! What a great community. Pics to follow
  10. Eina! Dammit! Btw, was that other dude riding with boots?
  11. I dont get it. You trust your baby of anywhere between 15-100k to stay on your car on SA roads travelling between 80-130km/h, and the only thing holding the bike in place is three suckers? And you complain about the price? Hmmm....
  12. Haha yeah, thats the safest route... Unless I am ambushed by an 18month old little pigmy.
  13. Damn, I rode with two family members past there last weekend. Will consider rather turning left (from Bottelary) to Durbanville side in the future. Its really sad.
  14. Anything for the northern subs? We've been trying to get cycle lanes into brackenfell for a while now
  15. Sorry to have missed this. How did it go?
  16. Double post
  17. Regarding your trainer, its a blast. I'm fighting the flu so I couldnt dig my heels in - my wife is strict. But in secret I took a few pedal strokes. It's well built and the ride is smooth. I'm loving it. Edit: very bad grammer fixed
  18. So far yes. Vlad's timeframe is to get a quotation for postage yesterday or today, and ship it before the weekend. I havent heard any bad news yet, so it's so far so good.
  19. You can pm me with your terms kind sir
  20. Thanks to Ed and some good service from RAM, one set of our wheels are on wheels and ready for training! good times.
  21. Thanks guys! Awesome. Ed and Dipslick. You have just made my day! I'll definitely pay it forward when i get the chance

  24. Quick background: After my retrenchement in January, I have joined forces with my father-in-law help build his construction business in Houtbay, while still attempting two ventures of my own (I'm not good with sitting still). The problem: This translates into extremely long hours away from home. We leave at 06:00 and return to Brackenfell anywhere between 18:15 -19:00. This means no cycling sometimes for 3 weeks (due to rain or family obligations). And when i do get out I can feel that I have lost quite a bit of form. The needed help: Both my Father-in-law and I want to train for the One Tonner. Its been my goal since completing my first Argus this year. I have max 30-40 minutes in the evening, so a trainer will do. I get on the Hub too late to get the bargains on indoor trainers advertised, Does anyone have a trainer they can lend/give/sell me please? We need two if possible, then we can train together, but one will do. I would appreciate it massively.
