  1. Howdy If you don't come right up in GP, I can recommend you speak to Chronos in CT - www.chronoswatchmakers.co.za. They did a fantastic job on my watch and may be able to fix it or point you in the direction of someone who can. Tom
  2. Mine was a similar story: originally from my grandfather, then brother then father.. I never knew the watch existed, and when I got it, it had been sitting in a draw for probably close on 25 years.. Discovered Chronos around the corner from me, R6k later it was serviced, new main spring and seals replaced. I deliberately didn't want it refurbed to showroom condition, so still looks as scruffy as the day I got it. I've also decided that it will be worn everyday, if I ever get it valued I might change my minds!! Tom
  3. 1958'ish Submariner. I'm the 4th keeper of this watch in my family.
  4. Hi Dave I've completed Tankwa Trek, Argus MTB and the Argus Tour, Epic and a few others on mine. My partner will probably also get one if he's allowed to do the Epic again next year. And then you can bomb it around Tokai with a big smile on your face if you want. Tom
  5. Hi Riaanoster I've been in a similar situation, and almost stuffed-up Tankwa as a result.. What works for me: 1. Ideally I have found it best to train with what I use in long rides - so that nothing comes as a shock on race day.. 2. I have ditched gels - they cause me all sorts of issues, and have switched to Woolies toddler food - cottage pie and guava/banana - they come in convenient pouches, and are close to puree, so you don't have to chew too much... 3. Try other products if you're not happy with what you're using. I've experimented with a number and settled on the ones that don't give me the squirts - so I now use Perpetuem and Rehydrate in the bottles.. Cheers Tom
  6. Great review. I also have the 140 on mine, it is great. Also running a 22-32-42 x 10 setup which absolutely works for me. Tom
  7. Spinning 5 days a week for an hour at 5am in the morning + spinning every other evening while watching the telly (Missus is now using the Spinit as a clothes hanger!). On the weekends riding approx 4 to 5 hours either Saturday or Sunday. As summer arrived switched to cycling over to Chappies then to town, around 45 kays, instead of spinning. We also added Blockhouse in the mix some evenings. Also did a few rides inbetween, Tankwa, etc. As a result dropped around 15kgs and managed to finish right near the back - but we still got our medals! Your family life will suffer while training, and your backside will suffer during the ride, but it is 100% worth it. Also get a flu jab a few weeks before the ride - it is *** to ride with a cold! Tom
  8. Can add Team Woolies Spring Valley, 605-1 (me) and 605-2 (Dave Cuff). Cat position 250 and GC 515. Tom
  9. Reuben is an absolute legend - was extremely inspiring to be riding in the same group as him. Tom
  10. My last bike was a Camber Pro. The Pyga makes it look pedestrian. Don't be fooledby the travel on the Pyga - it is more than ample, especially if you have the 140 upfront. Tom
  11. Try Revolution. Tom
  12. Little chance of me selling my Pyga, so I have no concern over resale value!!
  13. Pyga gets my vote.. Was on a Camber Pro before I saw the light..
  14. I think its brilliant.. Did my first last year with a charity, so got an early start, but finished with a rubbish time... So this here I was placed in PA, 9.32 start. Which gave me lots of time to sleep in, have a fry-up and make my way into town. Was a fair bit of traffic, but still managed a 4.34. Also enjoyed riding with some of the other mtb'ers in the group... Next year I might put a bit more air in my tyres if I get a better ceding.. Tom
  15. Welcome... I can't understand how anyone would ever sell their Pyga!! Brushed is great, but I love my green. Have also come across a white one which also looks fantastic.
  16. I've been spinning an hour almost every week day morning for the last 6 months.. Lovely 4.30am starts... Have only ever used the computerised spinning bikes, alternating between endurance and cardio training. Weekend rides generally spent at Tokai. Has helped me knock off 14kgs and will hopefully help with a long ride I have in a couple of weeks time. Using a heart rate monitor is essential - it took me a while to figure this out... Tom
  17. Got my vote on the Pyga. 3x10 works perfectly on it too..

    Tankwa Trek

Couldn't agree more!! Brilliant event, and that flippin hill was hell.
  19. Thanks for all your help with my flat. It would have been a very long walk if you hadn't come along!! Cheers Tom
  20. I'm up your side of the world from Saturday evening. Will spend the next two weeks riding around Notties, Sani and Winterton.... Tom
  21. Is specialized not 49% owned by Merida: http://inrng.com/who-makes-what/ Tom
  22. Looks like Specialized have scored a huge own goal here... http://www.bikebiz.com/news/read/specialized-facing-social-media-storm-after-roubaix-lawsuit-threat/015773 Glad I switched to Pyga! Tom
  23. Met a fellow Pyga rider at Tokai today on the way up towards Silvermine, but didn't ask his name. Was it any of you lot?
  24. Best investment I've ever made (before the Pyga). I went with the Command Post, as the settings are fixed, so no need to worry where your seat is. Only issue (as I discovered the first time) is that you have to bring the seat up with your bum, otherwise you end up with a slight ache in the groin...... Tom
  25. Revolution have a couple of built up bikes. Mine was parked next to the lovely orange 650 they've got for a couple of days.. They also have demo bikes available. Tom
