  1. Hi guys I'm not sure if this topic has been brought up before but I would like to know more about the etekweni mountain bike association and everyone's experience with them? I live and ride a lot in Hillcrest and Giba gorge. I am aware of EMBA and all there rules and regulations. I am not a member as I missed the cut off for the quota for the year. I have been riding in and around shongweni and summerveld the last year or so and it seems that I am no longer allowed to? I understand the reasoning for this association but its limited my riding opportunity in the area that I chose to live in. I know that I should probably get in early and join for next year, I know it may be the right thing to do, but I would like to know how you guys feel about EMBA and all the rules in place?
  2. Try riding with someone better or fitter than you. Riding with a more experienced rider can increase your effort on the bike by 200%. Good luck!
  3. I bought an entry level merida 29er a couple months ago and used it for about 700kms before upgrading the entire drive train and brakes. I am so happy with my decision, my budget was about 5k, so it was either a new fork or drive train. I decided drive train as I felt that was more important at the time. Never looked back. The bike feels so much better, more responsive and so much smoother, making me want to ride even more. So I would say go for it!
  4. I'm glad this topic came up. My sister in law has recently been diagnosed with this condition and she is struggling with the pain and doing exercise to better her condition. Her husband, my brother, is a mtb newby and he really wants his wife to share this interest. However they are concerned about her condition? So based on the 1st comment of this thread, it would seem that it's ok to ride with this condition???
  5. Merida Matt's xt all the way, and with fox fork, u can't go wrong!
  6. Stallion!
  7. I have the merida tfs 300, big nine, been very happy with it, great looking bike and good value for money. I am in the process of upgrading all major components - purely because I am riding more now. I looked at the momsen range as well, also great value for ur budget. I chose the merida, because I just love the frame work. Definitely go 29er ht in either. The merida big nine tfs 500 basically comes with a better front shock, so I would go for that
  8. Ardents for the win, hands down!
  9. I have just bought an xt 10 spd cassette from Cwc for 580... Awesome deal for a quality cassette, pretty affordable too, check it out
