  1. Thanks guys, please feel free to give as much advise and criticism as I am stuck with the finish. I don't like the bar and stem combo plus the tape colour. The wheels and tyres are hot. Will post some pics of a couple of parts I have lying about which I will let go to a good home (at a fair price) so that I can get the cash-flow going again.
  2. Hey Guys, I need some help! I am doing up this Alan Carbonio and trying to keep the colour scheme to black, white, silver/alu but picking up a bit of red. The red cable housing and the Carbona seat post seem to work. Also going to use some NOS Chorus levers out the box with the Deltas. The Ambriosio Excellence wheels were recently built on an old Record front hub and newer Chorus rear. NOS Michellin 18c Hi-Lite Supercomp HD's - those were the days! The old Fizik black and white saddle will do at the moment. I need help as follows: 1. What colour bar tape? Do I go white to match the hoods or red to match the cables? 2. The ITM Millennium stem and 3t Mutant bars are a mismatch and I would ideally like to get a Mutant stem. Anyone have one lying about? I can swap for a ITM BicOne stem in need. 3. The purists are going to punish me but can I please, please keep the Super Record crank? it's got some red and matches nicely with the frame! 4. Looking for some old Look Keo carbon pedals. Anyone have some? Unfortunately very broke at the moment and would like to keep all my non toeclip/strap pedals the same. 5. Also looking for some C Record Syncro levers as I am using some 70's levers to get the 10spd cassette moving (which it does beautifully)! I have a old Super Record (black lettering) or Nuovo Record derailier to swap?
  3. Thank you for this! I am placing an order right away after trying almost all my LBS's for a part.
  4. Hi Guys and Girls! I am desperately trying to finish off a rebuild of the Benesto but seriously need to find an Italian thread square tapered BB (109-110mm). Please contact me if you have one or know someone who may have a spare. Build so far, C Record group set, with Record headset and Cinelli bar and stem. (NOS Eddy Merckx tape). The seat post is still being polished when a Rolls saddle will complete the look. Vento wheels with NOS Michelin Hi Comp 18c tyres. Also have NOS Time racing pedals to grace the C Record cranks. Any help would be appreciated ................
  5. I recall drooling over the Radac in the mid 80's before I bought a more affordable Trek when they first came into SA. I had the Radac A3 fold up brochure for years and through it away during one of my clean ups! Good luck, hope it rides as nice as it looks.
  6. I will put it this way. I would love having a rare Peugeot over many more well known brands. Our market is small! Post some pics of your baby.

  8. Our regular route out to Bapsfontein and back is: 12th Ave Rivonia, left Bowling either around the golf course through Khyber Rock or right into Witkoppen, right Woodmead Drive past Makro, over M1, right Eastern Service road, 1st left North Way all way through Kelvin until Marlboro Drive, left over N3 into Linbro Park. Right into 3rd Rd, 1st left 2nd Ave. Follow all way until you see detour signs and then follow them coming out on to Peace Street (turning right here will take you back over the N3 into Alex). Turn left and then follow until you see sign to turn left into Thornhill Estate. We have never had any issues but this is SA!
  9. My 2 cents worth: The SA Shi@mano agents refuse to bring in hood replacements and you can't get hoods easily unless you import off eBay. Some LBS may still have NOS, especially black Exage hoods although they don't fit 100% on the old 600, 105's. Before you cut off the hoods, which are probably tacky, give them a good scrub with CleanGreen, Handy Andy, etc. Be careful to wash off all residue. Then take some talcing power (baby powder) and rub it on the hoods. They then get rid of the tackiness (for awhile).
  10. That Alan has a smile on its face again! Always a pleasure to assist and I look forward to a social ride some day soon.
  11. This is what I love about this site. I never knew that Trek existed until now!
  12. Here pics of the two callipers I have for sale. PM me an offer. I have another complete set but they are on one of my bikes.
  13. And here I was thinking it was your bike!
  14. That is a very sweet ride Morph!
  15. I have a Dia Compe brake set for you and will have a look at my stems. Please post a photo of the front calliper so I can see if they match
  16. Hi Guys I am looking for the following items to complete a rebuild: 1inch headset - Campagnolo Record, C Record or older silver Chorus Hub - Campagnolo rear hub 32h PM with pictures please.
  17. Hi Broker The frame is not chromed (apart from the chain stay). Higher end bikes were often nickel plated and then painted. The nickel plating prevented rust and hardened the frame.
  18. Hi, sorry looked like you received other offers. I have a Kalloy 25.4 by 310 stem. It will need to be sanded and polished. PM me an offer.
  19. Rudi What size seat post, I may have a similar one for sale?
  20. Found this mid 80's Triomphe or Victory RD. The main DR looks like a Triomphe but the chain guard looks more like the Victory. It should clean up nicely.
  21. Hi Broker, finding a full groupset in SA may be some what of a challenge but you can find parts from time to time. I have a Superleggra which I am yet to restore but will look at later period Campy groupset after selling off a C Record groupo a few months ago. Rear derailleurs are particularly had to find. I will see what parts I can find.
  22. +1! What bikes do you have?
  23. I am keen to do the Herald Tour in Feb. the cut off period for the bikes would be key and I say we allow bikes even into the mid 90's as I don't know how many chaps have pre 80's bikes. What do you guys think?
  24. Nothing sinister, I have not wanted to damage the protective coat over the alu. My last remaining Vitus has a few light scratches and I may give it a try some day.
