  1. Oh cheer up fellows. I have seen your latest purchases, you can't hide.
  2. Here is the write up on my Stronglite quill stem from my Vitus 979: http://velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx?ID=dd598fc1-804a-4ecb-9f17-f923289f09e4
  3. HeyYou, certainly doesn't look like an Alan. I was thinking Vitus but can't recall those lugs on the Vitus either. I think it is a Peugeot carbon frame made by Look. Hold on to that seat post as they are very Hens Teeth!
  4. Same badge as on my 60's and 80's track bikes. Ibex, are you sure the tandem is from the 70's? The cotter pin cranks would lead me to think so but the oversized down tube and flared headset confuse me!
  5. The best frames for building a SS or fixie are old track bikes. The horizontal dropouts allow you to tension the chain without resorting to any chain tensioners or pulleys. With road bikes it can be a hit or miss whether the chain tensions correctly.
  6. Yes, auto correct functioning
  7. From my vantage point on the couch it's neither. Looks like a dick wheel!
  8. Almost thought you bought an Alan
  9. Looks like a 60's or 70's track crank, pre NJS days? The holes for small chain ring confuse me. Check if the teeth ar for a 1/8 chain.
  10. Not cool. I thought you bagged this one by 1st dibs!
  11. About 18 months ago I had an opportunity to acquire an immaculate set of Bora One's. I never pulled the trigger and still regret that decision. Loving my Eurus but not the same. One day I may get another chance.
  12. Google appear to suggest four leaf clover belongs(ed) to Victor or Union pedals?
  13. Latest find after a clean, new grease and a bit of elbow grease. Beauty of Pista pedals is the undersides are not scuffed from trying to get the pedal to spin. The leather straps are poor so I found these in the interim. Any idea of manufacturer?
  14. It certainly belongs here but ideally it should be stored at my home!
  15. What are the socks made from? Wool, cotton, polyester?
  16. Looks like a 1st or 2nd generation Campagnolo C-Record crank with 4 arm spider, the 5th spider being hidden behind the crank arm. The 1st gen had the Campy logo engraved on the arms whereby later models only etched or painted on. The later always wore off and lost value. Good 4 spider cranks are worth a bit for collectors. I wonder if the same debate happened in the 80's as has happened with the intro of the new cranks?
  17. DJR, cool looking ride. What series crank is that?
  18. Nice work DJR! Is that a titanium seatpost? If so you could easily swap it out for an aero post. The titanium post is very sought after.
  19. Anyone able to give me some info on these bars? As I said i have a VGC set which came off one of my Colnago's which I replaced with a Cinelli bar. My bar has "London"on the left bars. Once again, sorry if I have tramped on your toes Eppie! Not my intention or nature. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/119430-classic-fiamme-milano-handlebars/
  20. Hey Guys & Girls (are there any ladies out there?) Had a lovely ride with Quintonb last Saturday and great to see the restored Master! Anyway, about to delver this TT bike to its owner tonight. The wheels are temporary. The frame will have a disk rear and tri spoke front. Not 100% sure of the frame but it looks very similar to Indurain's la espada "The Sword"on which he won the hour record. Enjoy, hope we get a few more retro bike entries for the Herald Cycle Tour at the end of the month in PE. Entries close on Sunday!
  21. Here is a useful site. I think the saddle maybe a Vetta. Similar leather patern on this Vetta.http://velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx?ID=D1672D46-0E21-48BB-9A6E-52798FCD0DF8&Enum=106&AbsPos=318
  22. I have a similar SL Bianchi but the paintwork is not in as good condition as Eppie's. Will be taking it for a respray at the end of the month. They are great frames and have been nickel plated before the paint was applied. Look forward to seeing the after pictures Eppie.
  23. Last call ........................ social ride tomorrow in Johannesburg. The plan is to meet in Queen St, Modderfontein near the Thornhill Estate at 06:00 to start a ride at 06:30. Emphasise on a social ride. We will follow Modderfontein Road R25 out to Bapsfontein and back. The distance is about 75km and pretty flat with total elevation about +-350m in total. We will then have a simple breakfast at the Fireman's Tavern (cheap, only about R45 for full spread). I am not fit so hope you guys will be kind to me. This will not be a full on training ride, rather a nice ride out through the countryside. The roads are nice with some extra wide shoulders and it should be very quiet at this time of the year. We hope to be finished at about 11:00 latest. Please call me (0730693979) for more information, or I will see you tomorrow.
  24. Schnavel, if you are around on Saturday the 3rd, we are taking a few Colnago's for a social ride from Modderfontein. PM for more details.
  25. Christmas present for the missus, '86 Colnago Mexico. Finished off with newer early 2000 Record group set on Ambriosio Excellence wheels. Brooks B17 saddle. PS, PM for details regarding the ride we have organised for Saturday the 3rd from Modderfontein! See post above.....
