  1. The best monitors are the type used in the UK. The police strap it around your ankle and you can't leave your village. ASBO's are the way to go. ASBO = anti social behavioural order
  2. Eddy, that's a very valuable summary of the market . Thank you for taking the time and effort to post.
  3. That little red Trek has nice angles and will make a nice restoration project. Interested to see pictures of the Rudge. Welcome to the club Brad.
  4. Colnago still make steel Master frames off the same 30 odd year old setup. Here's my baby.
  5. +1 I recall those before pics. Can't wait to see the completed bike.
  6. Hi Brad I just picked up a Cosmos frame this evening. I bought it for the spares. What I can tell you is it was made in good old SA and I must admit a closer inspection has revealed it was well made, is pretty light and the paint work still looks good. I am now keen to find out a bit more about the origin. May have to create a separate thread for this.
  7. Can't wait to see OP's thread when someone posts some Shitmano for sale!
  8. P.S. I may have period correct rear derailleur for sale.
  9. Late 1970's Super with Campagnolo Gran Sport crank. Can't see the brakes and levers. Nice!
  10. Hi Brad I sent you my email address in a PM. There is an art to cleaning old bicycles and you can get some further info here ...... http://www.classicrendezvous.com/Restoration/Restoration_main.htm or elsewhere on the web. The late Sheldon Brown had some good advise. Care! Often people do more harm to parts/bikes by trying to "fix"them and many of us prefer to get bikes in their scruffy state as we enjoy spending time and effort restoring. Not to mention money spent. The older the bike and its rarity is often an indication of how expensive it will be to restore. I personally don't buy restored bikes but prefer getting an old clonker which I can then do work on.
  11. Bradley Trek's began to take off in this country in the late 80's after the introduction of the 1200 series Trek road bike. It was an aluminium frame with Shimano group set and Mavic wheels if I recall. Probably around the same time Cannondale became popular, just before MTB. The 470 was earlier model and not very popular. R2,500 is probably a bit steep to have paid for it if you want to sell at a profit. Clean it up and advertise and see what offers you get. I too would like to see more pics of the Torelli. The Atlanta 96 wheel was enough to get me interested.
  12. Shimano 600 Ultegra was a super groupset in the day, easy to work on and lasted for years. I have stock of a few mint front derailleurs but only one damaged rear derailleur. Finding NOS hoods are virtually impossible and even the Shimano agents don't have any and refuse to bring in stock (LBS has tried). eBay is the only place to source NOS hoods at present. See http://www.ebay.com/...l-/390581263508 I also have 2 sets of levers. The one pair is NOS still unopened in its original packaging. The other is a used pair that is in VGC 8/10 as seen in the below pics. Also have a full 600 wheel set available with 8 spd Hyperglide cassette laced to Ambrosio Aero Durex rims. Make me a reasonable offer.............
  13. Hahahaha! I am just a poor boy. I may have some stuff but still deciding what groupo for a Bianchi SL I am about to restore. I am also 54 so watch out, make sure your Master is chained to your headboard at night.
  14. It will make a nice project to restore. What size frame and do you have groupo?
  15. There is a gardener around the corner that had a mint condition Cinelli that I approached a year or so ago to do a swap deal, new bike or cash for old. His Bryanston owner had given him the bike but forbid him selling or swapping it. Anyway long story short, I have stayed in contact and have fixed parts over the months. Saw the bike recently and it's in such a poor state I no longer want it as the paint work is in such a bad way. Sad!
  16. Lucky fellow (you) not the security guard. Yes, lets see some pics. You may even consider buying him a brand new Titan or something from Macro as a swap.
  17. Agreed, the wheels would look cool on a plain white Master. Too many colours.
  18. Thanks Luke Very constructive review based upon your personal experience. I have been putting off the purchase but will go ahead now.
  19. Agreed, but why have another computer when you can use your phone. Problem is gps chews power on all today's phones but not too serious if you fully charged and ride for less than 4 hrs. ANT+ bluetooth sensors will become cheaper, phone batteries last longer (gps power drawing less), etc. At the moment the Wahoo Fitness repeater with ANT+ sensors looks like the best option for me. My iPhone can run Strava or any of the other apps repeating the info on my bars with my phone in my pocket. The Wahoo SA agents are ripping it a bit and so I will import directly.
  20. Not knocking Polar but I find they are restricted to Polar products and apps. The sensors must be ANT+ so they can be picked up by other bluetooth receivers. Google DC Rainmaker for full explanation and reviews.
  21. P.S. What I think will be cool is linking up my iPad on a stand next to my IDT and then getting data into other apps. Not keen to have my phone displayed on my handlebars and will use the repeater.
  22. Hi Super J I am in the market for a similar product and narrowed it down to getting the Wahoo Fitness brand. http://wahoofitness.co.za/shop/android/wahoo-blue-sc-speed-and-cadence-sensor/ They do HRM and speed/cadence pickups. The only reason I haven't bought yet is the product is expensive in SA and will have a mate bring me some from Europe in a few weeks. Is there anyone using Wahoo Fitness who can provide reviews? Yes, I have looked at DC Rainmaker & coy (all very good).
  23. C Record group sets are getting rare. Will keep an eye out. Let Linden and Northcliff cycles know because they would be a source to off load.
  24. Sorry to hear the bad news! Let us know what parts were stolen so we can keep an eye open for them. Also good to let us know your whereabouts so we are aware of the area the parts may surface.
  25. The best way to view a 'Nago! Hey Gummi, any of those Kings Horses yours?
