  1. Hi Warren, I would say you have comfortably made yourself between R6,000 to R8,000 after a clean up!
  2. Here is my regular ride, a Viner SP Columbus tubing without stars or crosses.
  3. Hey guys and girls, I have this Speciale Professionale pista frame for sale. I would love to keep it as it is a beautiful colour and is in great condition. Alas too big for me. It's a 58/57.
  4. I got these over the weekend and will take them for a little spin on Saturday. Can't wait
  5. Nice. Seeing you got a present, you can sell me the groupset on the cheap!
  6. What a pity a bit of dubbin every now and again could have resulted in a lovely saddle. Here is one I found the other day. Too far to save. Tried to soak it in water for a few days and reshape but did not work!
  7. Rozanne, where do you live and do you have an alarm on your bike shed?
  8. IMHO the bike is no longer worth restoring as it will need a full respray and a few parts replaced. I too pay for something special when the numbers weigh up against the item. The employer cost the chap a more usable replacement bike plus a few grand in the pocket!
  9. Some lucky punter in Durban is looking forward to restoring this 1950's Holdsworth. The lug work is nice with unusual seat stay ends that almost look like spear tips. The Cinelli Giro bars and stem are to die for.
  10. Anyone know where I can find an original seatpost? and also why the Shimano 105 shifters would have been used instead of the matching simplex ones? Why do you say it's not an original seat post? What make and size seat post are you after? We may be able to assist. Remind me on Friday evening to look if I have a spare pair of Simplex gear levers to sell you.
  11. I tried to make an offer of exchange bike and cash for a beautiful Cinelli one of the gardeners rides around my area. The chap is quite short and the Cinelli is too big for him. His employer (owner) refused to allow him to exchange the bike. Over the past few months the Cinelli has taken a severe beating and the other day the guy stops me to say he wants to take up my offer. I told him it was no longer interested as the bike is trashed, brake lever bent, frame scratched to sh@t, etc. Poor chap couldn't understand why I no longer wanted the bike.
  12. Think of getting him a supermarket MTB with all terrain tyres and then fit a carry rack on the back. More user friendly and easier on the back for the chap.
  13. Nice yellow frame and it looks to be in excellent condition! I have two DHC bikes Here a pic of a 60's or early 70's track bike with thin 351 tubing. I didn't do the restoration but acquired it earlier in the year. Still trying to find some old steel pista bars. The bike is used by my wife on the track and hence the newer crank and pedals. I have the original Zeus crank but it has a 51T chainring which is too difficult for her to spin. Also have this late 70's early 80's frame I restored. It's great ride but I still need to get new decals for the frame. The head badge was reattached and new chain added.
  14. IMHO yes you can. Weight is not a great issue on the track, especially for shorter distances. I would not advise riding with old steel bars, pedals with toe clips but will replace with newer alu bars and modern clip-in pedals. I would also look at newer lighter wheel set. I will post a pic of my 80's Viner later.
  15. Please do take it to the track every now and again for a ride. The bike deserves it! It is very difficult to identify the frame as lugs were bought in by the builders and you need to be an expert to really tell the difference. The rear seat stay bridge looks like my 50's Viking.
  16. Rebilda that is a seriously beautiful bike. I love the clean simple lines and white paint work. The best part is the brass saddle rails and handle bar shim blending with the leather saddle and bar tape. What frame is it?
  17. All I am missing is the 50th Ann groupset!
  18. Lovely works of art the Super Record. Used an early 80's SR on my later model Battaglin as I didn't have a scratch-free C Record.
  19. This Cinelli is the most beautiful thing I have seen! Can you imagine owning this bike. I would let it sleep in my bedroom for sure!
  20. I have just received a Look KG 193 to build! Lucky me
  21. Unfortunately, didn't have the time to weigh the bike but its pretty light with those tubbies. Hope the owner allows me to have a ride sometime! Going to look very sexy with some NOS time pedals.
  22. Well seeing it's Bianchi week, here is the Patini replica I completed and delivered this afternoon:
  23. The flag is an actual braze-on which has then been painted. I am really loving this bike which will go into my to-keep collection. I may have found a C Record crank but apparently its very scratched. If so, will strip off anodising and highly sand, polish and then re-coat.
