  1. And if the person does not have medical aid does the same apply? Just to be clear, I did not post on the hub instead of calling for help, but rather to know for next time
  2. Yeah they said they were sorted but didnt know who to call - we didnt want to rubber neck nor did they want us to - so we moved on Hope he got help, who are the best people to call on cases like this?
  3. Just came across a cyclist unconscious from a fall - his buddies are with him but dont know who to call - just before the pedestrian bridge, next to the school Getting dark and dodgy in these parts
  4. What about using a bomb for initially getting the tire onto the rim? The bomb gets the tire to about.5 bar and the floor pump is used for an additional 3bar,before later deflating to the desired pressure
  5. A 30t with the smallest gear on the back is about the same as a 34t on the 2nd smallest on the back - doubt that you will find it too slow. Another option is to add a 42t to the back - although this will likely be more expensive or get a bag of concrete and HTFU
  6. ZTR crest would give you 90g per wheel (80g if you have Arch EX) Tires could also be considered, spokes and nipples also
  7. any 1.8mm butted longer spokes?
  8. would also love to know...
  9. if your front is behaving with the avid rotor and xt caliper then the rear should be ok from a compatability point of view contamination can always be an issue, as could bleeding, personally find those shimano resivour things hard to bleed. rear cable is of course much longer than the front, so the brake will always be softer, especially if not throughly bled.
  10. was just thinking that... alternatively I shouldn't let others ride my bike through rock gardens... thanks guys - will give cycle lab and Northcliff a buzz in the am...
  11. How old are the brakes? How old are the pads? It the caliper aligned and tightened properly, this can cause what you are describing... Disks can be cleaned, pads cannot, any oil on the pads and its best to get fresh ones. I love my avids, everything else I buy is shimano, but avid brakes just down right rock
  12. Broke a spoke on my wheel today, does anybody know of any shops open on a Sunday in Sandton/jhb that sell spokes?
  13. what did he look like? Did he have friends?
  14. That sucks dude, hope you find one
  15. Nope, your mom asked me to get one for her
  16. Does anywhere still have red 30/32T ?
  17. Picked one up yesterday for R445, great quality, works great. Even though it says 6-30nm on the scale, mine will go lower, starts at about 4nm. Hard to explain... But its accurate and can be used effecivly for 4-30nm Awesome tool shop btw
  18. don'f forget the faeries and friendly park goers
  19. Yes, just did this on my non-stealth scott spark, the reverb cable joins up with other cables, you could almost call it... stealth..
  20. always have a great time on the spruit - if I don't greet you its only because I am our of breath
  21. Fitted an RP23 to my scott spark 29" a month ago - the difference is amazing!
  22. I may well be missing something here, but if its only the riding position that is wrong, that can be changed without much effort. thinking out loud... A short riser stem and riser bar will bring the hands up by ~100mm and back by ~50mm - not too bad so far If the seat still needs moving forward to get rid of the stretched out seating position than things get a bit more complicated. An offset seat post can be used to move the seat around if the standard adjustment is not sufficient - but moving the seat forward could be an issue, guessing the seat isn't too far back from the vertical position of the BB if the bike has a race feel. Comparing the BMC to a Tall Boy - Head tube is only slightly slacker on the Tall Boy, 69.5 vs 70.2 - Seat tube 73.5 vs 72.4 Putting on a longer fork as already mentioned would increase the head tube and seat tube angles, changing the way the bike feels, putting the seat further back from the BB, and rising the handlebars. Downside would be a slightly higher BB, but not by much. Might be able to change the head tube angle with an angle adjusting headset of some sort (cane creak make them) not sure on the suitability for this bike.
  23. Sounds great - just ordered a full face helmet Will be bringing my XC 29er
  24. Anyone know if these are still available in sa?
