  1. will be my third, not so sure about doing a set time, legs are feeling moeg after the Magalies Monster...
  2. What a lekker ride that was. As mentioned before, did the 45km as I am a chicken and it was my first time. Day started bad, we were staying at Peacanwood and as we got to the venue in the morning, realised I had left both of my 32GI water bottles at home . Ok not the end of the world, knowing we would get a free bottle so could at leadt have that filled with municipal gin. So, as I roll into WP1, look down, bottle gone . Had to almost over consume water to keep me going till the next WP. Cramping started badly in the hammies and quads at around 22km, and with that my goal of a sub 3hr went out the window. Cramped like a mofo right up unitl the end, actually fell off my bike at the finish line - I was kaput. Cool, excuses out the way, now.... Sense of accomplishment, hell yeah, even if I was a chicken and did the 45km that medal was like receiving an award for summiting Mt Everest. Downhill sections, man for me it was like I died and went to heaven - loved every single bit of downhill Will I be back next year, well as my Magalies Monster virginty has been broken, come hell or high water, better your bottom dollar I will be back. I will be so back next year, I am doing the Full Monster Big up to all hubbers that finished, well done guys and gals.....
  3. if you are not bleeding, you have not tried hard enough
  4. think i found the perfect song for this event......
  5. Fork definately, you will save weight as well as have a more responsive front end that will handle a lot better. Look at something like a Rock Shox Recon Gold or Reba, cant go worng and a good starting point. Overtime you can upgrade the rest IMHO
  6. giving your age away there mate by quoting martino die kulkunstenaar.
  7. holy cow, rouxtjie you managed to get coffee come out of my nose - sheezas that is too funny for words.....
  8. sounds like his objective was achieved, all the ladies swarmed around him to see if he was ok -
  9. not cycling related, but still a funny story. Way back in high school, we were palying against Potch boys and we were trailing by a small margin, our 2nd centre makes a break, but was so worried about who was chasing him down, he crossed a white line, took a massive leap to score a try. He got up hands in the air, but was confused why we were all hurling abuse at him - the chop took a spectacular dive on the 22 line?? So could not get worse right, well it does, 2nd half, the idiot goeas and does the same thing Needles to say, he was dropped from the side......
  10. agreed, and the customer is partially to blame for putting up with the bad service. It is pretty sad that people dont take pride in what they do these days (not everyone, but too many dont).
  11. my point exactly, we always hear about the bull s h ! t bad service we get and yes in general, customer service in South Africa is pretty appaling. Ja at the time I was a bit annoyed, but it was cosmetic, so let it be - but a wrong was righted and thats why I will alays go back.
  12. Rather easily AfdElite - we all read the RANTS that people are very quick to come out guns blazing about, where they are just having no joy with said LBS as they wont replace a part, or exchanged a part or whatever. This is definately a RAVE to me, maybe not you, but definately for me - its not so much about them replacing the seatpost as much as in the way it was handled.
  13. yeah I guess, but they also could have said oh well tough luck. irrespective, well done Alex and Northcliff Cycles
  14. Wow, pretty impressed. I took my bike in to Northcliff Cycles this past Sunday for a little once over pre-Magalies Monster. Alex assisted me, and knowing he is the owner I mentioned to him that when my bike came in earlier in the year, the seatpost came out pretty scuffed from the repair stand clamp. Now at the time when this happened, I mentioned it to one of the sale guys in the shop, and he suggested that they "touch up" with some black paint. I must admit, I was a little annoyed, but it was not a big issue. I did not mention it to Alex to try and get a new seatpost out of him, but purely to bring it to his attention, afterall, scratches on a MTB add to its character. Picked my bike up this afternoon, and Alex had arranged for the seatpost to be replaced "on the house". I insited that it was not really neccessary, but I was told that Alex had told them to replace. Big Bike Kudos to Alex and Northcliff Cycles......
  15. lekker soos n krekker - to all doing the Monster, ride your metal / alloy / carbon pony like it was intended to be ridden. Ride Hard, Ride Safe......
  16. yeah, I am doing half of the Monster this year, being my first, but next year will be the whole enchilada. would be good to put a few faces to the names, and in my case, a name to the mugshot I call a profile pic.... hahahaha but how will I know who you are
  17. i could not agree with you more rouxtjie, the hub is a lekker forum for not only buying and selling stuff, but there is some awesome insight into the other realms of cycling on the hub, various articles, tech Q&A, and general banter. there is a lekker bunch of okes here on the hub, have never met anyone, but most of you guys seem to know each other well - would be lekker to crack a beer with some of you one day.....
  18. knew there had to be a way to clock up 1000 posts pronto - and there you have it if your place of residence is where you conduct business from, yup then one needs to be more than 100% sure of the buyer - dont want some dodgey oke pulling in with his chommas to clean you out. Big respect Rouxtjie
  19. ja jong, dan ryk dit soos *** op n tekkie
  20. post #160 for me, eish got a long way to go before I meet rouxtjie's criteria in reading the previous posts to this topic, I guess I am a noob - so flame away if you like (quickly puts on fire retardent suit), I dont really sell much, but I do suffer from an incurable disorder (like Oscar) called Upgradenitis. i think that when it comes to buying and selling stuff, like many have said before, common sense is good practice and if things dont sit with you 100% - walk away. personally, if I were selling items, I would never send anything without having the cash cleared in my account first. if it's a cash deal, then a neutral meeting ground is where we would meet (nobody will notice the SWAT Team van in the background). i cant help but feel sorry for my fellow noobs, who will join the hub, cause they have just got into cycling and wanting to buy a bike, or looking for upgrade parts - but need to meet a certain post criteria before they can transact? i guess, its the world we live in these days, remember the days when your word and hand shake sealed the deal?
