  1. This right here is why the hub is such a lekker place.... okes dig to gooi the banter about and have a little dig at each other - its what happens here, and one does need to be a little "dik vellig" from time to time. Rule # 5 & 43 - my little bit of tongue in cheek. Referencing: http://www.velominati.com/the-rules/
  2. there was an article in last weeks Randburg Sun (local newspaper) about MTBers on the Spruit - a dog owner whincing about a kid that was riding with his / her parents and lost control and hit her dog? As been stated before, if we are not too careful, the Spruit will become "lock down" to all cyclists. Mutual respect to fellow cyclists, dog walkers and the likes, but i think this is a bit like wanting world peace.
  3. Im in for sure - some really interesting sections ....
  4. interesting, a friend of mine sold his MTB a week ago. A Schwinn Moab 26er HT. He got the bike new in 2000, and paid R5500.00 for it. He sold the bike "as is" (which means it had flat tyres, a very very dry drivetrain, etc..) for R1000.00. If he applied this formula to derive at an asking price, he should have realistically got R630.00. When I asked him about the exact purchase price, he was a littl unsure, it was a gift from his parents, but it was around the R5500.00 mark. So, give or take a few hundred randelas here n there, the formula is pretty close in my mind, for an entry level bike though. I think once you are talkingabout the higher end, to top end bikes, I have my doubts.
  5. On the note of jolling spots, anyone remember Plumb Crazy?
  6. used to race BMX back in the 80's, my first BMX was a red and white MK2 Redline..... I then got the chrome molly 600A Redline. Now who remembers Corobrick BMX Track?
  7. with the exception of the F50, this video contains a lot of porn.......
  8. was wondering why Eleanor had not been posted.....
  9. Rode there last week Sunday. Absolutley loved it, nice fast single track and some good technical climbs. From what I could work out, if you are wanting to get in a 32km ride, you basically do a second lap? Depending on your riding abaility, and if you are a confident rider, with a decent level of bike control, I highly reccommend you do the black trail as well. It offers some nice technical climbs (I am not a fan of this, but I put up with it cause I know that what goes up, well, must come down ) but the downhill sections really made it for me, lots of rock garden sections, drop-offs, and some tricky switchbacks (I loved it so much, I bought a tiny piece of real estate while I was there ). Having said the above, there are alternative shorter routes which will cater for the perhaps less skilled rider. Head on out, you wont regret it......
  10. Sent through an enquirey regarding price matching to the sales email address on the site and still no response?
  11. Sign me up, super keen.... a mate of mine will also be very eager to learn more - so thats two from my side.
  12. sheezas boet that is so funny - yet true. That Giulietta was a head turner when it first came out.
  13. agreed, like owning a Ferrari and then you put a roof bike carrier on it....
  14. ja hey Rouxtjie, I have certainly gone through the love hate relationship episode, which Alfa did you have?
  15. eish, being a very proud Alfa Romeo owner, I can certainly say that it is like dating a super model - very lekker for your mates to check out, but moerse expensive to keep happy - my baby is an oldie, the 156 GTA, and apart from donating a kidney, left arm and spleen when the cambelt service is due, she runs like a demon.... As Jeremy Clarkson said "you cant call yourself a true petrol head unless you have owned an Alfa"
  16. I just love how everyone rallys together to help a brother / sister out. It is really an honour to be a part of such "awesomeness" FrancoisC - I know that everyone has offered you a replacement phone, but if for whatever reason they fall through, let me know - the wife will be upgrading in the next few days and her iPhone4 will be going spare. And yes, please do consider going for trauma councelling - and by that I mean, as the the great Freddy Mercury once said "Get On Your Bike And Ride" - jokes aside, go see someone bud...
  17. left and right ball shall be given to get my hands on this baby...

Running Ardent up front and Crossmark on the rear - as Rouxtjie said, the Crossmarks are bomb proof but a bit on the heavy side (especially on WTB iFrequency hoops) but this combo is serving me well. Used to run Crossmarks up front, but I found that the front would washout pretty easily - so loving that grippy Ardent on the front
  19. So its been a while, but here she is, finally finished.....

  21. the devil is in the detail........ i know a guy like yourself, he did a lot of high profile armed escourting in and out of Iraq - you okes a tough bastards - big respect to you......
  22. Unless your name is Chuck Norris, Charles Bronsen or Buce Willis - stay calm, hand over the material items that can be replaced, then take a trap home to see your wife and kids - en route home, say a little thanks to your gaurdian angels. I am sure that there are many guys with Roneblack46 skills, and would have mowed them all down and continued with their ride, however, for every 1000 people, there may be one such skilled person - and thats a big maybe. Anyways, Roneblack46, is Oscar guilty and going to jail for a long time?
