  1. cbrundson I bought a hanger for my anthem x sometime back for R55 - you've got to break a lot of them to make up to R1000!!
  2. hahaha there would only be an A group
  3. look I do like gripshift as I had them on my first bike. But I thought in changing now I at least get some cash to spend on some other kit but mampara you are probably closest to the truth!
  4. OK so I am not trying to open up the SRAM vs shimano debate, but here goes. I have an XT shadow equipped bike which is now one year old. In the cupboard I have a brand-new set of X9 rear mech and X0 twist shifters. These where bought for a previous bike and then I got the new one so they have been sitting waiting. so... Do I ride the XT till it breaks. (which judging by my last bike is like never, the stuff really seems to last well) or do I take the XT off and flog it and put on the SRAM? what would a good condition XT rear mech and shifters go for?
  5. The organization at the registration was a disaster. I for one don't understand the need to register prior to the race in any case. If we had number boards for the season and we enter on line why the need for anything else? But I will be back - probably the best race route I have ridden this season - really outstanding. Well marked, well manned and superb single track!
  6. sure when?
  7. the new sections are both near the top of the forest. 1. Just after you come up the rocky stretch along the electric fence at the pine tree, turn right and then almost immediately right again (literally 10 meters) 2. same as above but turn left go to corner where electric fence turns left (where people jump the fence) turn right down rocky jeep track and where it gets steep look for exit on right. hope that clear?
  8. it is open and there are a couple of new sections of track they've done some good work. I live 1km from majik - wahoo!
  9. yes it would and it would affect tires too. if you pumped them to 3 bar at sea level and then went to the top of everest they would be 6 bar.. in reality I am not sure how much of a difference it makes at 2000m. probably negligible
  10. JB I add to splats question a second one I also have 819's. What other rim options does one have with tubeless?
  11. OK shipping on that size package is around R20 to JHB so to make matters simple a full kit with two syringes is R120 postage included. please email to brussel at cybersmart dot co dot za. Those that asked last week I sent them off on Saturday, please let me know that you got them
  12. how much was it?
  13. OK those that want please send mail to brussel at cybersmart dot co za. Tell me if you just want 5mm ferrules R25/each postage included (and how many pieces you want) or if you want the complete kit with syringes etc it will cost R50 per unit excluding postage (postage will be more pricey because of the size of the syringe I cannot put into a normal letter)
  14. Dirtbreath I looked for those but they did not have them at the time. The only concern is whether they would work with the relative tough tube I was using. You need to get a good fit onto the ferrules so you need pretty thick wall - IV tube might be too thin
  15. Big-H very small ones - hmm try bearing man? as for 2mm nylock - wow never seen them that small. there are a couple of places in CT that do fastners like Topfast and some others whose names escape me right now
  16. OK you'd have to check that your bleed ports are M5 threads. If not I can make them to any spec you like, but I'd guess that most systems use M5? FYI the hole is a 1.5mm which is perfect. How would it sound if I do the two brass ferrules and post them to you in ordinary postage for R50? I am sure I can pop them in a envelope wrapped in some paper. You can source the syringes and tube locally. Depending on how tight the tube fits onto the ferrule, you maybe have to put a drop of glue there to make sure you don't suck any air through (with the avid bleed you have to suck all the air bubbles out as well as push new fluid through and if you pull too hard on the syringe you can suck air in, a drop of superglue/epoxy works fine)brussel2009-07-29 10:48:53
  17. I thought of doing something similar to that except the avid has a complicated bleed procedure and needs the tube clamped. I also thought about having a small piece of plastic thread broken off in a lever or caliper
  18. I have avid elixirs and wanted to bleed them. I hate paying LBS if I can do work myself. And I also refuse to pay R300 plus for two syringes. So I made them myself: Syringes R7.50 Catheter for the tube R5.95 5mm Brass bolts nylock nuts and o-rings R8.00 Small office clips R6.00 Superglue R13.00 Total cost: R36 !! 5 minutes of work on the lathe to drill holes and chamfer the bolts to slide on the tube. works perfectly! brussel2009-07-29 08:53:57
  19. Porky, I agree someone prices are the deal clincher for me as I do all my own TL on my bike. But if I was taking my baby in I'd want to know that the people cared about me and not just my money. If I was Cbrundson I would feel exactly the same. I do buy most of my stuff where the prices are good AND the staff are friendly and remember my face when I come through the door.
  20. yeah except the more I rest the worse it feels. I think with riding it gets some of the gunk out of the system.
  21. who knows....chikenrun4me.perhaps they are tougher than us mortals perhaps the drugs are the answer Dick but this s frustrating. Today I feel the worst I have in the last two weeks, but its nothing bad - body feels fine it's just snot siekte in the head - feeling congested and very agitated with the waiting for this stupid thing to clear. not sure how I would feel on the bike - I have been trying to rests, although work stress has not helped
  22. OK so I have had the sniffles for nearly 5 weeks now. Nothing serious just a small post nasal drip. I raced the last two weekends on the MTB and had an elevated heart rate during the races and reduced performance (although I still did pretty well). I have cut down on hard training for the last two weeks. (last week I did one gym session, a spinning class and a short easy ride) And this week I have done nothing at all (man that was tough!!) I am supposed to be racing the Knysna 85km on sat but if anything the sniffles have gotten worse and I have a slight cough (just from the post nasal drip I think) I figured with the week of rest I would have gotten a bit better AAAARGH so what do I do? my resting heart rate is pretty normal No raised temperature...this is soooo frustrating being half sick any advice? brussel2009-07-02 09:51:42
  23. Johann parallax is an issue in the pic, the macro mode meant I was really close up and trying to hold a ruler and take a pic is not good In reality it is a little over 1/32 of an inch.
  24. CaptainDura - middle of pin - hence my frustration with the chain having worn the sprocket
  25. OK Johann, I am an engineer and I am blessed to be able to read REAL fast I can see why the current devices dont work well...and I can see again that roller wear is not as much of an issue as I might have thought. But then how does a chain that is supposedly in spec still wear a sprocket enough to make it unusable...here is a pic just taken of the chain on the bike
