  1. Okei, so each year at this time I seem to get frustrated with my pedals. I rode with look type pedals when I started as U/14, then got myself a set of Campag profit pedals and since 2002 Ive been riding Time. First the old type, but then upgraded to the newer Time RXS and this year got the new iclic this year(but took them off after my cleats were worn after 3 months and cleats are expensive). The old ones was the best, but big and heavy, then came the RXS but cleats got expensive and it felt as if the pedals wore quickly. I modified my one set of RXS by making a Stainless steel plate that I bolted to the pedal platform, but one thing that is still irritating me is the fact that I pull my foot away from the pedal too easily, causing a jerky movement and clunky noise. Now my question, do you have the same experience as me with these pedals? I like the Time brand because my foot doesnt rock on the pedal as much as with look pedals(which I have tried and dont like) and Im not too fond of shimano (campy rider). How does the speedplay work for you, will I get any of these problems with them? Or am I looking for the imposable by wanting a rock solid cleat?
  2. Just keep the name south african. No tour de ..... or giro de ..... ****. Name it toer van suid afrika or something more local.
  3. Yup. Its not like he whent next to AS, looked him in the eye, laughed at him and then sprinted off. I also think he actually did not know what to do.
  4. Wait. Maybe ones computer goes offline. We will see who is the gentleman and doesnt post remarks till the other reconects. Hehe
  5. I also say that nobody waited for chavanel, who was in yellow, when he changed his bike twice on the cobbles. So because he is not a so called main contender/favourite, he is excluded from the rule? So where do you draw the line regarding gentleman rules? Why not neutral the whole tour and just sprint for the finnish.
  6. Okei ja. Dont mind who it happens to, but no one waited for chavanal after 2 bike changes on stage 3. Nou one also waited for contador or armstrong with a flat on that same stage. Was it a time trial, no one will slag down. I rather blame the mechanic, sram or something like that. It just makes sence to kap contador because it was plain sight i guess. Good win for voeckler! I support him rather.
  7. a Block of wood and a hammer, works well!
  8. Rather show a pic of the sprocket so that we can see what you see. One guys bend is another's ramp.
  9. as far as I know its made from a high grade stainless steel. If you take a rotor to any engineering company that does laser cutting, they should be able to help you with material used and everything.
  10. Any fixes that are more permanent?
  11. So here is my problem, how many times has it happened that you have a fairly new set of tires/tubbies that still has a lot of tread left, but then you are the unlucky one to strike the peace of drunk mans junk in the road (glass) and now there is a cut in the tire that bulges out or does not reseal? So what have you used to repair or patch that type of cut. Because I do not want to pay R800 for a tubby and only do 3 races on the darn thing.
  12. As a junior my Cinelli integralter bars broke like that 20kms from the wild coast sun race finish. I was in the middle of the bunch but kept the bike upright with the cable. As soon as it broke my feet were out of the pedals and caused a few sparks on the tar. Also striped a pedal out of a crank at a race, broke a few chains and while training with Hanco the one day his ritcey crank arm broke in 2! My worst was also in a MTB race, it was a 24hour and in the morning as I went over a little jump, the screws holding the stenctions sheared out and there whent my front wheel and pert of the shock. I fell face first into the ground and then hit my shoulder. My face was swollen for a week.
  13. Thanks, I just don't want to send the info to prevent scamming and then get scammed!
  14. Have they ever send any of you an email requesting that you email proof that you are in possession of the credit card you used and a copy of your bank statement? I received one and they said that if I don't reply within 3 days, they will cancel the order and refund the card holder.
  15. or get it powder coated, alot stronger that paint and wont chip like paint. Spokes have a lot of vibration, bending and stretching stresses and normal paint is too hard for that type of application.
Kom eerder volgende keer saam.
  19. Most derailleurs have a indication of the gear range it can accommodate, It would be a number like 16 or something. E.g if you start on a 11, then 11 + 16 = 27. That would then be the biggest gear you can fit with the RD without having shifting and chain length problems.
  20. You can fit everything with anything, as long as the chain, cassete and shifters are all the same speed. I know they say that the front chain blades are also specific, but have run 10speed chains on 9 speed blade with no problems.
  21. The more times you cross the spokes, the more torsional strength it aught to have. The better the quality of your spokes, the lesser times they have to cross. Crossing the spokes is used where torsion is transferred from the hub to the rim (in that order), like with sprockets and disk brakes.
  22. My main reason for having different crank lengths comes to the type of riding I'm doing. For road races, where i want a good balance between exhilaration and powering, I use my stranded 172.5 cranks. When time trialing, where I mainly sit and power, I use a 175. This is also a good compromise for me, because I keep the Torque ratio between the crank arm length and the blade radius nearly the same (This is because I ride a 53 blade in a RR and a 55 in a TT). Another thing that evens out is my leg speed, because I push a heavier gear in a time trial, my cadence is lower than in a RR and because of the longer crank, I have to do a bigger circumference so my leg speed in meters/second stays the same as with the higher cadence and shorter cranks in a RR. I hope this makes sense.
