I don't know about the rest of you guys, but how on earth do the organizers think that any normal working person, staying more that 5km from the registration points, will be able to collect their numbers on a Thursday and Friday between 9 an 4! seriously! and then if you are a registered cyclist you will get grieve if you try and register on race day!

Nice route, did it myself saterday. You should look at taking the slanghoek road, turn onto R101 and then towards goudini, the road is a lot quieter and bit more undulating, could cut about 5 km of the total distance though.

hubs get heavier, rims get lighter. Also, you lose the straight pull spokes on the front, that just looks slow on a road bike, excepte if you are riding lightweights. The carbon wheel trend would have to change (hub-spokes-rim all carbon) Hub spasing changes, so front wheel aspecially loses stiffness. Have you ever tried to put a rear mtb wheel in, trying to get the chain on the cogs the disc blade into a 2mm gap and the jockey out of the way in one swoop? Tubeless tyres also have come far on mtb's and still it has not had a great impact on the road. I can swop my brake pads in about 5 minutes, on both my mtb and road bike, so no give there. Setup faster? Uhm, bleeding kit needed for hydraulic, and only one allenkey needed for road brakes, dont see any point in that? Its a nice project to work on and will make your bike different, but I dont see it making it to the top.

Also struggled with this after I started working, then desided to comute to work and then train home, I find myself desiding to ridie longer home even if I do not whant to just because I have to go home by bike and there is no other choice, I tell myself that I might as well to a longer route now that I am on the bike. Well first off, if you train with them, then you are the hipocrit. I have never left someone behind that punchers. I greet anyone that passes me, sometimes they greet, sometimes they dont, it doesnt matter whether Im on my MTB or road bike. Stop being preconceptios and start being the difference, because I see people that complain as the biggest sinners, because they arent doing anything to actively change it. I am also a CYCLIST, my attetude is the same on both my bikes. I love speed I love obsticles. Ive won mtb races, Ive won road races, I have friends on both sides. Why do you pre judge anyone by the type of bike they are riding/

So having moved to this great part of the country, having atleast double the amount of road cyclist than the freestate, I thought that I would get a lot more racing in. To my boredome there hasnt been one road race that i know of in this reagion for the last 3 months! Or do I just not know where to search for the races. I really thought that the cape had a big cycling scene with all the cool places to ride, but nothing, there has been more races in these three months in the freestate, than I can find for the rest of the year here in the cape reagion? Where can I find info on the races over here. I hope it improves or has all the road cyclists over here started doing mtb instead?

who in sa sells Lake or DMT shoes? I am espesially looking for speedplay specific shoes? Any advise?

But how does our SA cycling system work? I am a fully licensed Elite rider, but still have to fork up their regerstration fee to get to race with the elites at mtb and road events, isnt this something that sa cycling should look at, otherwise, screw the sacycling fees and only pay ppa and I can start where I deserve to?

dnt ahve a lot to do on the weekend afternoons, i see the epic had a 86km route, nobody got directions for that?

Especially a mtb route to ceres or other near town? Anyone got garmin maps or something? I struggle to get to the group rides in town so mainly train alone.

Im dead, but really a beautiful race. misjudged halfway a bit and got a flat later on. Next race I will not have 2months of unfitness! That was the real killer!

Thanks, looking at going to the race. Riding in Mecer kit. Bad thing is Im doing a late entry and Im not a ppa member, so a 40rand penalty for me and no seeding. But really looking foreward to the race.

I agree with B&B, you store the wheels at 3 or 9. But to unblock you can try hot water, it usually desolves the seallant. Im not shure how to get the hot water to the clot, it depends on the type of valve or extension.

Now comes the corrupt polar people. I have a polar cs400. Late last year while training it tells me the memory is full, try to clear it and the thing freezes up and later resets. Try it again, same result, but this time I lose all my personal info and the thing shows low bat. I get a 35rand bat at a store and as the thing is made to make bat change easy, I change it myself. Thing comes on and locks on a default screen. Deside to send it in. They contact me, say that I shorted the prossesing bord while changing the batery. I tell them it made k@k before I did it. They say then it wasnt me, but because I chanped bat, warranty void. I tell then it says its a user changeble bat, they say, it says its advised to send unit in for bat. Now thex whant 850 to fix it, I told them I dont have that money, its still at them.

I undestand that, but which wireless speed sensors will work with the head unit?
