  1. For me there was a huge laps of judgement from Nibali and van den broeck. They were both on Froome's wheel. As soon as they saw Froome getting on the radio and slagging down, knowing Wiggens is off, they should have moved past Froome and pressed the pase like hell! Sky handed them a free oppertunity and no one capitilised, stupid racing in my eyes.
  2. Actually its 137,41km/h
  3. For shure, just find a cheap set of 8spd shifters.
  4. The lugs are outer cable stops, what do they mean its not as simple. Get yourself a cheap 2nd hand set of Shimano sora shifters and put it on the handle bars. Only issue you could have is that the sora shifters are 8spd and that setup you have there is 6 or 7 spd. but the spacing on all ofthose are the same, so could just block out some of the shifts.
  5. Johan, I'm your man! (Although I have a degree in mechanical engineering, have been cycling for 14 years and only once handed my own bike to a shop for a service. I could already at 14 notice that most mechanics at a bike shop knows diddly squat about ixing a bike properly)
  6. for me it doesn't matter what one of his 2 passports says, the main thing is that he end the Velits are great examples to our own young crowd, that even if you stay in SA racing and SAs shitty racing teams till you are 23, you can still make it to a podium spot in one of the biggest races there is! Let him be the inspiration to inspire someone like Reinhard to go for his dreams!
  7. Google Trek medone 7
  8. All I know is that they are putting all their eggs in one basket. Just say something happens to Ash in the race (something we are not hoping for), then what are the other 2 going to be able to do? or are they going to stop by her side and there everything is done?
  9. Which 2 was it? What did they advertise
  10. Its actually a Slovenian cyclist that builds his own frames and stuff. He was actually contacted by SKY to do an intergration setup like this for Wiggens You can see his work on starbike.weightweenies.com and search for berk prototypes in the forum ( in the forum section, go to introduce yourself/galary, there you will find his thread).
  11. I thought for a moment there that they are going superman style and wearing their underwear over their shorts!
  12. Was a great event and kudos or the great organizing. Only thing that bugged me was that the internet said that registration would be open till 10pm, I had to leave work early, pic up the missus in Modimole and drive my ass of to get to registration early enough. got the 20 to 10 and they told me sorry they packed up already, meaning I drove hard on toll roads for no reason, only got to bed at around 11pm and had to get up before 5am again to go get our numbers. other than that it was great, all the snacks, waters food! Sho, I did not even have a long line to wait for lunch.
  13. It is funny how at each Olympics they send someone for experience for the future and that's the last time that person sees that action, because at the next games there is a younger person with more talent that has to get experience! Why not do it the correct way, Identify them directly after the Olympics and develop them for 4 years, so they have enough experience and then send them. Send Hunter or Rheinard, clearly showed at SA champs that they are the best we got. Send Cherise ad Ashleigh. Cherise got worlds medals at junior already and is the current Time Trial champ, Ashley showed her class on world level and deserves it (and current road champ, to add), kudos for getting a spot for a 3rd lady, send the next best choice. I am not clued up enough for the rest of the disciplines, but surely, please send someone that has realistic chances to perform!
  14. Yip, in this case I would not accuse these riders of anything, more in the lines of, the top people don't like you, so lets show you who's the bos.
  15. Uuuuhm, she was busy becoming Mrs Stunder, something that was organised a while before she knew the dates of the TdFS and if it was part of any criteria.
  16. You got it for free, then it doesn't matter how good it is. Fortunately the Monoc range was pretty solid and the people I know that had them, loved it.
  17. To all those that compare to their cars, just remember that you have to compare apples with apples, so if you use total cost of your bike including purchase price, then do the same, including interest for you car.
  18. Okei, so in 9 pages no one has seen the potential of this? So he is a idiot, but he is an influential idiot! We should all embrace him in cycling and invite him to cycle with us, then take him to the most dangerous roads there is! Convince him that cycle lanes are the future and would help the poor youth! We will all benefit.
  19. Have you ever driven to Lanseria airport, every 500m they change the speed between 80 and 100. I dont think they know what they whant! In December, moving up from Worcester back to Bloem, I got caught doing 107 in a 80 zone, thats a R600 fine. My ave speed for the trip was 90km/h. We were 2 vehicles traveling together. 1st thing, why if I was speeding would I be doing 107 on the N1??? Clearly the 80 sign was not visable and the other vehicle got no fines for that trip? I am all for the ave speed fine system. the guys doing 180 just to slam on their brakes to cruise 80 past the sign is clearly the more dangerous person on the road! But yes, I always try keeping to the rules as I believe in being the change you whant to see, but I get the fines and do not see anything being done to the real dangers on the roads!
  20. But why wait till now to enquire about it, 2 months into the year and with 7 or 8 races already done like this.
  21. http://www.cyclenation.co.za/news/road-news/womens-racing/item/9464-clothing-breach-debacle-at-sa-ladies-elite-championships This is not what I thought our ladies racing has come to, shees, let their legs do the talking.
  22. Okei whaoh! before you start thinking of something like changing crank length to stop it from hitting rocks, you should start thinking beyond only the length! Remember, longer cranks gives better leverage, something you need to get over small bumps and climbs. Going drastically shorter could drop your efficiency on the bike. There are numerous things to look at to stop this problem, cheapest is fitting a size bigger tyre, this could also give you a 10mm lift easily. setting your sag to maybe 18%, also a quick fix. Mainly, check your riding style, maybe riding lighter rather that heavier on these parts of the route?

    Tubbies

What wheels do you have? If you whant cheap, then buycycle has ritchey tubbeys for around R180, they are desent enough and if one pops its easy to replace. But like Johan said, do you have clnchers or tubby wheels, coz your OP can be misleading.
  24. ah, okei, see in road cycling it is stated that the SA champs jersey is a white jersey with one green and one gold/yellow stripe horisontally across the chest. So they bitch and moan because they think his shirt is prettier than the other champs jersey's just because and got dust in the face!
  25. does anyone actually have a photo of the shirt in question, so we all can see what the fuss is about?
