  1. What was the overall time, distance (incl. the transitions) for the day?
  2. There are some incredible German brands that are not mainstream in SA.... which is cool when every second rider is on the same red and black bike that the magazines tell us we should be buying. I can kick myself - when the Capra was launched I came close to buying one in Germany, but decided to be responsible with my money... that was at roughly half of the R80k that it would cost me now !
  3. So p-ed off, planned on entering yesterday (first had to make sure that I was going to be in town) and then all hell broke loose at work - totally forgot. Will have to play on my own and wait for next round
  4. point of order madam speaker: abs is not fly by wireless.. it is not even fly by wire...
  5. SA is too flat to wimp out that quickly. The guys from the countries with ski lifts already "outclimb" us without trying. seriously though, the niche is obvious - just saying there is something that does not sit 100% with me.
  6. I am conflicted about this - lots of great things about it, excellent for some applications and the engineering is very appealing - I am especially impressed with how well packaged they have become over the past 5 years. I just can't shake the irrational feeling that I don't like this creeping into cycling.
  7. That is a seriously tall seat post.
  8. I did not pay attention to the age of the thread and merrily started reading on page 1 today - do yourselves a favour and look at the prices that were considered "high" back in 2012... man those were the days! :-)
  9. Rode up Chappies on Saturday and saw about 10 cyclists wipe their collective arses on a request by the guy at the roadworks stopping point for the cars to go first. A little consideration from our side would go a long way...
  10. holy cr.p whooo designed their kit?
  11. You clearly spend more time building awesome bikes than writing cr*p on the hub - that is a good balance to keep. Love your work!
  12. Yeah, I also came to that conclusion and think it is silly.
  13. I am still pissed that I could not manage leave to do this - don't get why this had to start on a "work-week" day - why not Saturday Sunday?
  14. Runner was mugged along the road between Westlake golf course and the estate at roughly 7h00 this morning. Knocked down by guys in a white Corsa who then tried taking his shoes and watch. He was in rough shape, but OK. This was not in a secluded place and at a busy time of day. Be safe out there
  15. The comment about the skinny Honey Badgers I found interesting: Best tyres I have owned to date in 26 years of mtb. I suspect the sizing is weird - their 2.2s are HUUUGE and the 2.05s looked and felt similar to the 2.2 Vitorias I run now.
  16. in other words SA could probably double its productivity by shutting down the hub

  18. Its a cruiser...not a van... never mind :-) Awesome event, awesome organisation, awesome support form all the partners including Pyga - thanks guys. Very good for the brand
  19. :-) Thanks, that is an expression I am going to use in future
  20. A nutritionist will not be able to help you beyond looking at the ingredients as stated. Chemical compounds are never 100% pure and buying them from a reputable pharmacy will make no difference. Generics sometimes even more so. Pros obviously have a burden of proof to bear since there is a financial implication associated with their performance, but expecting recreational riders to check the fineprint on everything they put in their bodies and not to use certain medicine when they for example have a sinus infection I find stupid. Bit then again I find it totally acceptable to race with water in my bottles, so if I ever test positive it will be from all the other crap that I ingest unknowingly- ignorance is bliss
  21. I also had trouble with my Elixirs early on and with all the bad press around them I came very close to just buying another brand BUT: I eventually found that the issue was actually a minor problem caused by the LBS when they originally changed my brakes around (I use a right-hand front set-up and the bike was supplied with the Euro set-up). Since replacing a damaged ferule on the hose they have been fantastic - both great to ride and to service (I did a bleed once after 4000km just for fun). During the tough time of sorting out the pro blem I was told that one of the best things about SRAM is that their agents are actually very good at sorting out waranty issues etc. I stopped short of dealing with them personally because I managed to track down the issue myself, but it was good te hear that you are not completely without support if there are real problems. So while you will get lots of replies telling you that you should simply buy Shimanos and while here clearly are many complaints about Elixirs I would suggest not getting sucked into dispair just yet. There are many many Elixirs out there working and working well, so there is no reason yours cannot also be great. Good luck. PS. If you are in any way interested in working on your own bike I would suggest getting your own bleed kit. Easy to use and fun to know that you can do it yourself if needed.
  22. If someone is proud of being honest and constructive in telling his wife she's fat I suppose I should not expect him to understand the nuances of profiling people based on appearance.
  23. Thanks for all the feedback - good to know about the creases being normal. If 4000km is a "decent innings" for a Tundra I am a bit shocked. Can't see it being normal to buy a new saddle every couple of months. Will see what the LBS says, but looks like I will be buying another Gobi.
