  1. Enjoyed Mindhunter. Just found it very "easy" to watch. Easy-to-listen-to voices, interesting to see how the original "serial killer" profiling came about, and despite the actual subject-matter being pretty grim - you don't see too much of it. Plus, my perfect job would involve jumping on a plane at a moments notice and flyign all over the place.
  2. Hey! I live with someone who will watch an hour and 45 mins of a truly appaling movie while I'm working on the laptop - and when I say I'm going to be she says "no I'll watch the end, it might get better....."
  3. Damn I hate the cold!
  4. Currently watching season 1 of "This is Us" and loving it! It's funny, sad, thought provoking ... Great characters and a really good script with some really cool twists. 10/10
  5. The video says metal alloy plugs with a low melting temp :-)
  6. From what I read on one aviation site, the objective was (and always is) to put the plane back down on the ground immediatley, regardless of anything else. Also it said that the tyres are designed to "explode and deflate to prevent them catching fire" from the super hot brakes. When exactly they explode, I don't know. Maybe someone can confirm or refute the explanation . . . .
  7. Philippine Airlines #PR113 to Manila returned to Los Angeles after flames were seen from right engine. The Boeing 777-300ER (reg. RP-C7775) suffered a failure (compressor stall) on right engine. The crew immediately declared a mayday and requested return to LAX after takeoff. The aircraft landed runway 25L and was met by emergency services. Due to the weight of the Boeing 777 (full tanks), all tires of the main gear exploded. No injuries were reported
  8. How's about coming in to work and facing this as your first job of the day?

    Who remembers?

We had a puncture once out in the car. Dad took off the wheel to change it and found a set of molgrips he'd left on the brake housing 2 years previously.....
  10. I remember those A300's landing at what was JS Airport back in the day. I specifically remember that they used to touch down with the main undercarriage but would then keep the nose wheel up off the ground for quite a while.

Likewise, the folks took us there when we were kids in the 70's and, being pommies, we loved it. Then, years later in the 90's, after I'd moved back to the UK and popped over to SA for a holiday, I went there with my sister and her family and was really dissapointed . . . Never been back, but have since been to some smaller lodges that were excellent. Nice to hear that you had a good experience.
  12. We've suddenly slipped into Winter! Spring was amazing - in June I was riding until after 10pm and it hadn't got dark yet! Summer was amazing - up to 43 degrees at times in August, swimming in the local river, big salads for lunch every day - perfect. Autumn..... well, it lasted 2 minutes! October was nice, in fact it was very comfortable after the heat of summer, but then at the beginning of November the rains arrived and temps started to fall. Now the rain has gone and it's sunny during the day - warm even if you happen to be out in it, but at night and inside the flat (which, like South African houses, is designed for summer not winter) it is freezing! We'll be ok after we adjust ourselves a bit - dig out the winter clothes and riding kit and the hot water bottles - and if it snows then the cold will be forgiven, because it really is beautiful here when it snows, but for the moment while we pay our respects to the passing of Summer, the cold is a bit.... shocking!!! Brrrrrr :-)

Yeah - high beam/low beam foot switch. My dads Valiant had one.
  14. We're getting some encoraging feedback from people who are following us, regarding Private Investment, as well as some advice on things to look out for. All good stuff. This week I've also had a couple of emails from the "Angel Investment Network" but they are more Sales based - encouraging us to pay for a "fuller service" from them . . . .
  15. There are 6 categories of Routes here at "Zona Zero" in Ainsa - totalling over 1000km of trails...... ZZ Routes - The standard Zona Zero routes that form the basis for the Trail Network here. New routes are being added all the time. ZL Routes - The "Light" Routes. There are 6 of them and they tend to be easier than the ZZ Routes. That's not always the case though - some of them are pretty "interesting" in places! ZE Routes - These are the "Special" Routes. Enduro riding, including the sections that made up the Enduro Series Stages that were held here in Ainsa-Sobrabe in 2015 and 2018. ZA Routes - These are the "Alpine" Routes. Up in the Alto Pyrenees, these routes offer some spectacular views and some great descents. ZR Routes - A set of 13 "Road" Routes here and across the border in France. EZ Routes - Coming soon! Routes prticularly suited to e-Bikes. Plenty to enjoy!
  16. How many CO2 "bombs" to inflate it afterwards? ;-)
  17. 747F Wheel set . . . . INCIDENT / Blown tyre which caused fuselage damage last night in Tel Aviv, Boeing 747F Air Cargo Global (OM-ACG). The aircraft came from Liege, flight 3V951. Photos from FB.
  18. We're moving into winter up here in the northern hemisphere - so I'm being extra careful....
  19. Last week we registered with a website called "the Angel Investment Network" https://www.angelinvestmentnetwork.us/ It's free to register, you fill in what it is that you need investors for and then once it's approved they send out your "Pitch" to their network of Angel Investors. The main site is based in the US but they have a "network" here in Spain, so we should be sent out to the Spanish network of potential investors too. You can see from the wording of the questions they ask and the accompanying notes that the sites biggest traffic comes from Electronics start-ups, e-commerce start-ups, that sort of thing. But they do have a category for "Tourism & Recreation" which are essentially where we fall - in fact getting tourists to visit us for recreational purposes pretty much sums up what we want to do! The service is advertised as "free" but (exactly as you would expect) when you get to the end of filling in a dozen sections of information and you're ready to "Publish your Pitch" you are told that the free service only does a few basic things - and holds back certain information from potential investors. If you want investors to get the whole thing you have to pay. They have a tiered pricing structure topping out at around $2500 for "everything"..... We've gone with the free option, let's see what happens . . . . :-)
  20. Well we got through Sneaky Pete - Season 1 in about a week. Enjoyed it once we got into it. The bits where the gangsters cut off pinky-toes and thumbs made us both eeeeew a bit, but over all it was good :-) Now we're halfway though another oldie - Mr Robot - Season 1. It's OK but not quite as riveting as some of the other stuff we've been watching......
  21. "In the valley of the blind . . . . ."
  22. Fifteen minutes south of Ainsa, on the road to Barbastro, you drive through the "new" village of Mediano which sits alongside the Mediano Dam. This new village was built when the Mediano Dam was built and the valley containing the "old" village of Mediano was flooded. Back in 2016 at the end of the summer (mid October) we drove down to new Mediano and walked from the car park across the fields to the remains of the old village. The houses have all fallen down over the years but the church tower remains standing. This year we wanted to go back for another walk but the first rains came before we had the chance, so when we got there the water level had already risen. When the dam is full you can only see the top couple of meters of the tower, but by then you can't get close enough to take a decent picture unless you hire a kayak! The first two pics are from 2016, the rest are from last week . . . . . :-)
  23. I remember this one happening. Apparently afterwards they tested many pilots in the Sim under the same conditions and no one was able to equal what the crew did "live" at the time.
  24. The engine lost a whole rotor? Holy cow!
  25. Where were the jets painted?
