  1. Any reason why this thread has gone quite?

Back in 2013/14 I was banting as a Type 1 diabetic for 6 months. Lost 7 kg, was using less insulin (my cycle works in reverse, i.e. would inject less for almost-zero carbs), and LDL, HDL and Trigs were all at improved values. Kidney function was normal.

Fast forward to 2017, and I still avoid refined carbs (as any person, but especially diabetics, should) but enjoy bread, rice, potatoes and fruit. And I'm now 10 kg heavier.

Maybe time to cut out the carbs completely again.

Holiday season...people get busy and lose their way diet wise, im busy banting again now....not for weight loss but seriously helps with sinus & hayfever problems....many skeptics out there and i believe if you racing then its not the diet for you but cant keep loading my body with all these hayfever pills every day....wheat is my problem, cut out bread for three days and i can stop using hayfever tabs...good luck

  2. Everyone is hating because the bikes are more expensive than most, but then when they see one up close/in person, they get a little jealous inside...because deep down inside they know that is a PROPER quality frame that is really attractive because of it's rarity.

By that statement of "rarity".....Spaz,Scott and Cannondale should be dirt cheap as they are everywhere.  Not hating the brands at all, just curious as to how a frame can cost so much, how can a bicycle cost more than a small car?!?

  3. for roughly the same Randelas..... know which one I will take.

Im a huge CANYON fan, i already own their previous hardtail and want to replace the frame now but for the same price of frames(SPAZ, BMC, SCOTT) i can buy a full suspension carbon canyon bike.....its crazy. I keep getting quotes for other brands and just cant justify buying a frame for the same price as a new bike.......

  4. Spez fan or not, been to this shop 3 times now. They have absolutely every product in the Spez catologue in stock, all sizes and colours.  I love the fact I can view every model bike in the range in the flesh and test ride them before making a decission. Love this shop.

Smaller stores changed their whole store setup to accommodate spez, spez should have been supporting those stores more to stock all sizes and colours as you say...but instead they build a giant store to compete against you and forget the sacrifices you made to set them up in the area!

  5. If you road a slow DC eg. over 6 hours your opinion is useless. You are all idiots believing the marketing hype.

What motivates someone to give such a rubbish comment, if you dont agree with it just keep quiet or at least give constructive criticism....whether you believe it or not this diet has helped so many people and its made such an impact that many tour de france cyclists are using ketones instead of glucose as fuel sources...even iron-man athletes are using this methodology so maybe you are the idiot.

  6. Been banting for 3 months, as mentioned there was a drop in performance in the first month but im back to normal performance again without complete body exhaustion after every ride, weight has dropped, lost fat and increased lean muscle. those weekend binges can help in the race but take approximately 3 days to work off so back to square one....one step forward two steps back.

The mct oil is a better fuel source than glucose...its expensive(although cheaper than gels) but its an immediate energy source which is what many people are missing in their LCHF diets...if you not going for podium finishes then whats the point of pushing till bonking...start a little slower...all the glucose fueled junkies will start showing fatigue midway through the race and thats when you pass them by. your performance will get better...give your body time to adapt....its worth the end result. good luck

  7. Hi There

I've been on LCHF for about 5 weeks now and i've been seeing the results in my weight-loss.

i have a cycling endurance event coming up soon.

I'm a little worried as you are told as a cyclist to carbo-load before an event, i did an event while i was still in my adaption phase and i hit the wall which i expected.

I'm worried and do not know if i should continue on my low carb diet and continue to burn fat or should i carbo-load with good carbs a few days before.

I found this article on the internet as reference: http://thefitfork.com/fat-and-then-carbs-latest-in-pre-race-nutrition-for-marathons-and-ultras

    Regards

Go to the plastic shop, buy 2 or 3 small bottles, fill it with half cream and half mct oil...after 5 weeks you should be pretty well fat adapted, the mct oil will be instant energy and the cream will kick in a bit later. if you are to use carbs, just use it during the race...dont carb load.
