  1. My Metals pads make a huge noise. I have since made one side resin and the other side metal. So in short the front has metal left and resin right. The back has resin left and metal right. Make sense?
  2. They supply straps. When you hand everything back they give you a shirt.
  3. I am going to check on Wednesday, but there was a shuttle taking us UP to underberg after the race. This is due to not enough drivers opr whatever reasons. How much are you guys willing to pay for someone to drive your cars down if this shuttle is not available?
  4. Wonder if they will have microphones so they can record what stupid things are said...from both sides.
  5. Cycling home on Thursday evening and I was one block away from home. A lady cut the corner (basically driving over the painted stop side in my lane) and drove into me. I landed on her bonnet, scratched it, broke her mirror. I was just so very lucky that she wasnt gunning it. I went out and purchased another light for my handlebar. So now i have 3 lights on bar, one on helmet, red light on back pack and on seat tube plus a bright yellow jacket. I have ridden twice with the critical mass guys in Cape Town and if anything they anger the motorists by taking up whole lanes, riding through red lights and not everyone wearing helmets. I will never ride with them again. What else can we do to create awareness?
  6. Awesome morning.
  7. Mine is barely under 12.5kg. Only way to lose more weight is to put the recommended amount of sealant in the tires but i would rather spend that extra weight riding than pushing something lighter. NO carbon. Your fork may be the weight issue on your bike.
  8. I was gong to post a pic (was going to take the pic inside my bicycle room in the dark with all lights on) of my bikes current visibility from the back but as i was about to leave this morning my front tire went flat and would not seal. Luckily I have a headlamp and light on back-pack so i just grabbed one of the other bikes and was on my way and visible in the dark. I still think more lights make the drivers behave better.
  9. Yes, to be seen by vehicle. I want to be visible to other vehicles on the road (and other bicycles as I am slow). There is that part of the morning and sunset when the light is weird and that is when i need to be a moving christmas tree.
  10. What would be the best rear light for visibilty while commuting? I have one on the seatpost, another on my back pack. The seatpost is for low cars and I dont think the light on my back pack is visible enough. What do you use?
  11. Definitely take a look here: http://www.easybike.co.za/lights/front-lights.html
  12. When are you thinking of doing this? How about a week after sani2c
  13. I woulds say use MTB at first. You can then decide for yourself as I dont have a road bike. Will definitely get you home quicker but some parts are corrugated or under construction.
  14. Definitely MTB. We ride medium paced and wait at certain spots for everyone to catchup and take pics. Some guys are in training for a big race coming up and others are only there to get to the coffee shop in a group as its more fashionable. Route is Table Mountain so a bit loose in some parts, steep in others, tarred on some.
  15. I am leaving anytime between 6am and 7 am depending on who is waiting for me at Woodbridge. Leave CBD just after 5pm. That is the section where I think numbers will count. For that KM or so its full on awareness as cars, pedestrians and busses are drving like crazy. Never had an incident with a taxi yet in the year I have been riding it.
  16. Bump This Wednesday morning ride is on if anyone would like to join in. Table View Group: 5:00am - Leave Sunningdale from the Windmill at the Sunningdale shopping cntr. 5:55am - Arrive at Church street bridge and wait for Cape Town Group Cape Town Group: 5:45am - Meet outside CTICC 6:00am - arrive and leave Church street bridge All Groups: 6:30am - Meet at Rhodes Mem 8:00am - into Town for Coffee
  17. I am still looking for a commuting buddy to ride with from Plattekloof to CBD in the morning and reverse in the evening. I basically go down Bosmansdam to Koeberg, down to Otto du Plessis then get onto the cycle lanes. Meet other commuters at Woodbridge Island. I just think it would be safer to ride with someone.
  18. Will do that.
  19. Can we make suggestions here? Based in CT
  20. I LOVE that colour. Okay so i have a few questions: 1. Why did you go for KONA and not any other SS specific brand? 2. What travel or hieght is that fork equivalent too? (Would be the same angle with a 100 or 120 or 140 fork) 3. What material is the frame made of?
  21. Yes, I usually go in for a chat on Saturdays. He is the only LBS that services my bikes for me. Works out well as I drop them off on the weekend and collect the following weeekend. Only wish is that he was closer to Cape Town.
  22. WOOOOHHHOOOOOOO
  23. Some bikes that will fit these wheels http://forums.mtbr.com/650b-69er-new-wheel-trends/my-list-650b-compatible-26ers-376656.html
  24. Yes, so I know it should fit the shova with a revelation fork.
  25. Before I shoot over to the classifeds, does anyone know where I can get a set of 650B wheels?
