  1. What you can do it cut out the warmup and cool down. Just record the interval session which should be over 70% of your max. Like that you'll know if the data is syncing and if it is you'll get some points.
  2. From what people are saying it makes no difference if you submit exactly what's required or way more, the target still increases by 100 points per week. Vitality just dropped it to 300 points to save some face. Soon we'll all be on 1200 again.
  3. For the guys that only submit what is required, does it help or does your target still increase by 100 points a week (since 2 April 16) ? Before April 16 I found that the increases were 50 points per week but now it seems Vitality is in a huge hurry to get everybody back to 1200.
  4. It does but yesterday it was a bit wonkey (the device) and it was reading very high, eventually it came right but that helped get some extra points. Last week I got a lot less points. Vitality never picked up my weekend rides so I got 0 instead of 200 (before was 6000 points for the weekend rides). Let me know if you need some points to pay off the Apple watch
  5. 1200 for the week - target is currently 400 Some more smoothies on the way next week. Pretty sure next weeks target will be 500. Before they increased by 50 now it's by 100. Seems Vitality are eager to have me back at 1200 ASAP.
  6. If you want to cheat the system you'll find a way. I have a faulty HR strap that reads a HR of around 220 when I'm doing nothing. Can put it on for 30min watch TV and Kaching... POINTS. Vitality have gone from 1 extreme to the other. They'll need to find a happy medium.
  7. Nice wheels !!!
  8. I saw some time back that they had Shutdown some sites selling fake kit. Must still cost a few Dollars to chase and shut these guys down. Can't imagine China being to helpful.
  9. You should be fine with a 8MB line. It works with a 4MB line as long there's nothing downloading or any game playing. Exocus is very good IMO.
  10. You should change your Friday coffee ride to a Friday smoothie ride. Not sure what time they start serving smoothies at though.
  11. Just received this email, at least they helping out the TomTom users: Your TomTom data is currently sent to Vitality through MapMyfitness – this has data integration and reliability issues which many of our members have raised. We are therefore in the process of discontinuing this method of integration from the Vitality programme. Together with TomTom, we are working on a new, better-quality integration and we hope to have this in place in the coming months. In the interim, while no new TomTom device linking through MapMyFitness will be possible from 18 March 2016, we have recognised you as an early adopter. We’ll continue to award you Vitality points for your TomTom activity (via MapMyFitness) until the end of June 2016. Given the intricacies of this system integration, we cannot commit to timelines but will keep you informed closer to the time.
  12. With the new points system it's actually better to do less. My son goes to gym 3 - 4 times a week. He's target is 300 points so he's achieving his target and getting his smoothie. With winter around the corner it will be base riding for me and majority of cyclists. Since any ride under 70% of max counts ZERO I'll go from 12 000 points a week to ZERO. Better to just wait for the target to drop to 300 points and then just visit the gym. I see Discovery is taking some abuse on Facebook - rightly so. I think that whoever comes up with the points allocation does ZERO training.
  13. Seems I need to make a correction to my earlier post / comment. Any ride under 70% of max gets you exactly ZERO points. So a 3 - 4 hour base ride will be worth 0 points, same as sitting on the couch watching TV. Pretty sure they going to move the goal posts again and again and again.
  14. Plenty of these in JHB. Just hook up a HR monitor to a taxi driver and you'll be sorted. Ironically a 3 - 4 hour base ride will also get you 100 points. Last year I think they had a better balance, this year started off too easy and now they've gone completely in the opposite direction. I think they should layer the points a lot more, like you suggested yesterday.
  15. What if you driving your car with a HR monitor on ? I know it's a bit extreme but of people are cheating the system they'll find a loop hole. Discovery have really made their name GAT with these changes. Now majority of the participants are unhappy.
  16. I have a better idea, I'll just drop my Garmin in your pocket and collect it from you later. Can't reach Wade's pocket.
  17. The difference is that your heart beats like crazy, mine doesn't. I'm going to have to come and chase you to get it to 80%.
  18. Your allocated goal might drop though. We'll have to wait and see.
  19. I'll have to kiss 3000 points in one go goodbye. There's no ways that I'll manage a 3.5hr+ ride at 80% of max and I don't do any those events. Seems they pushing events though. A 50 -99km cycling event at any intensity = 600 points Alternatively, 1.5hr+ ride at 80% of max. The people that went for the watch based on the current point system might be a bit screwed.
  20. Ironically I also had a Tropical Greens this morning. Now I've had 3, Tropical Greens, Peanut Butter Bomb & Cacao Cream.
  21. So they say: Certain members will see their Vitality Active Rewards goals adjusted to provide them with adequate time to adapt to the new points-earning activities and device updates.
  22. Yip, they've hooked a good few people and now seriously moved the goal posts. Who can ride at 80% for 210 min ? Discovery is taking lessons from the government, eskom, etc
  23. Was wondering when this was going to happen. 3000 points is very easy to get. Majority of cyclists get that on Saturday morning.
