  1. I'm with bikemonster on this one. I'm sure the decision to brand a few of these with the Biogen brand was purely a financial decision. Buy the stuff in China for 5c sell in SA for R300 - well it's really a no brainer. If one needs to believe that it works then it's pretty obvious that it's a scam. Then regarding the contents of Biogen supplements, just because the label says one thing doesn't mean that is what is inside the container. But you already know this as you are well aware that USN were brought to book regarding this a few years back. There is also no controlling body in SA to make sure that what is on the label is what's inside the container.
  2. I think you answered some of your own questions. Full carbon deep sections are out - so that you don't need to change the brake pads. I prefer lighter wheels to help me climb, there are very few flat races. But here's an idea, there are a set of Token deep sections in the for sale section, the guy is asking R4500 then there is another hubber selling a set of Mavic R-Sys which weigh 1390g (or something like that) he's asking for R5300. So you sell your current wheels buy a set of deep sections (these have an aluminium braking surface so there's no need to change brake pads) and buy the R-Sys. Then you'll have best of both worlds. That's what I'd do if I was you.
  3. Saw a USN one the other day. I would have thought that Biogen would have used red silicone. Do they come in red ?? So what did you do with it ? Put it on ?
  4. I'd say it's a USN one as she's sponsored by USN. BTW, USN make everything for Biogen...
  5. I'm a roadie so won't be able to give you real life experience but I can tell you that a road bike on the road is MUCH faster than a MTB on a road. Why do you want a road bike ? Cross training or you just want to go faster ? First thing you'll need to figure out is what size bike you need. Then you can decide if you want 9 or 10 or 11 speed, for R6000 you should be able to pick up a 10 speed bike.
  6. Somebody done some serious marketing because they must have sold millions. Watched the cricket yesterday for a few minutes and noticed that a number of players were wearing them. Was at the supplement store the other day and a guy came in specifically to purchase one, he paid R300 for it. Maybe the guys at this years Tour de France should have worn them so they could have kept their balance.
  7. Only you could come up with that - brilliant though. It's all good, lots of fun. If you don't want to take part in a discussion then don't. The rivalry (MTB vs Road; Shimano vs SRAM vs Campag; etc) will always be around but at the end of the day we'll race/ride together and have a good laugh. Last year there was even a braai and everybody got along. Maybe it's different because we're all sitting behind a screen.
  8. Then just keep your R-Sys :)
  9. Lucky you, I even changed my ride because of the wind. Just make sure you keep it by you on Sunday....
  10. Have you been using Shimano for 16.5 years or have you been using the exact same Shimano grupset for 16.5 years ?? I've used Shimano (Sora; 105 & Ultegra) everything works but once I started using Campag I was hooked.
  11. You guys obviously didn't have the WIND we had this morning ??
  12. I'm going to solve your problem for you Joey. Put a Campag groupset on the Bianchi and then if you don't like it you can just sell the bike to me for half price (it's even my size) :D :D Then you can buy a TREK and put SRAM Red on it  (A hubber posted on a thread that he'd been using his Campag groupset for 10 years without any problems, never heard that from a Shimano/SRAM user) Viva CAMPAG !!!!
  13. Joey come on now. There is only 1 option: CAMPAG !!!!!
  14. Ha like my mate says, 1 bike is training, 2 or more bikes is a race. I'm pretty sure they open at 7am
  15. Best value for money is probably a Silverback, the problem comes in when you want to sell it, very few seem to want to ride a Silverback. I'd advise you stick to the bigger brands, Merida, Felt, etc they are easier to sell and at some stage you going to want to sell it. If you can go for a carbon bike, no point in upgrading now and then upgrading next year again -IMO. Don't know if you'll find a new carbon bike for R15k but on the hub you'll find a good 2nd hand carbon bike for R15k. What you could also do is a buy a good carbon frame and then move your components from the RC2000 to the new bike and then upgrade those components when you have more money to spend.
  16. Agree with Reg, cassette needs to be removed to check that everything is ok and then put back properly and lock ring torqued....and away you go..
  17. Pricing for me is an issue so I often shop around. Luckily for me I have on of the cheapest places to buy supplements from, namely Springbok Pharmacy. I also use www.basicsupplements.co.za great service and even better prices. They just supply BASIC supplements as the name suggests, no fancy containers with pretty labels. The quality is inside the container.
  18. Just let me know when you want to sell these SL's...
  19. That's normal for a right footed person. If you can correct it and make it 50/50 it would be great.
  20. I would change bike shops if I was you.
  21. ISP = integrated seat post Normally one would need to buy a seat post to put on a frame but these days there are some frames which have molded a seat post onto them. They called frames with ISP. If it's a frame + seat post one can adjust the seat post by lowering / raising it but if the frame has ISP one normally needs to cut it so that it fits correctly. The problem comes in when one wants to sell the frame/bike.
  22. That Giant is a MED, so I'm thinking that it should fit you but you'd have to go & have a look. The trick is the ISP. Bike shops can sometimes get upset but that's their problem. They shouldn't charge you more than R500 to put the bike together. I had a bike put together the other day and the bike shop charged me R200.
  23. How tall are you ? This maybe an option https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/70389-giant-tcr-advanced-2008-med-price-added/page__p__1024568__hl__giant__fromsearch__1#entry1024568 and it's in Durban, just take into account that it's got an ISP (integrated seat post)
  24. Don't worry I also hate the tax man !!! These bloody agents !!! Some food for thought, if you had to bring in the bike "in parts or taken apart" then you'd only pay 14 or 15% VAT and a clearance fee. Alternatively if you know somebody that can is travelling back from the UK they can bring it in for ZERO (extra).
  25. I think you've forgotten about the duties, VAT, this fee & that fee. Awesome looking bike though.
