Only thing about the booties/covers is if it gets warm they take a while to get off. As well as making your whole foot warm and sweaty... Weardirect/anatomic make toe covers which do the job and come off quick as well.

I think one thing keeping ppl away is the timing. if the event started on/after the 16th, most ppl would be on leave already. This year, I had to take 2 days leave for the event. Loved every minute of it!

I have exactly the same problem also moving from a dual 26 to a hardtail 29er. My arms take a beating as well. Can't figure out if it's because my drop (to h.bars) is too little or too much...
