  1. Giant riders are level-headed people - we recognize and give credit where it's due - RESPECTA!!!. I for one love my Anthem and won't slay the Spaz cause I haven't ridden it. Buddy of mine is looking at a Spaz Camber (we ride together and favour similar type riding etc.) so will either be VERY happy with the Anthem OR VERY jealous in a few weeks...

  3. Good idea! Mine lies in the garage... in a box mostly... I'll be following with interest to see what comes from this and will gladly donate. Good luck!
  4. jip, what they said. edge 500 not that much more but gives you more options going forward. good bang for buck!
  5. probably because of inconsistent results with all the "short-cutting" going on. really don't get why people do this, especially in a 20km fun race AND in lower batches (?) I've seen some nasty fights break out in the field because of it.
  6. Physics wise it does make a difference - go read up on Centripetal forces - bigger is better (you increase stopping forces at the centre of the circle/rotor). In practice you'd think 20mm is not going to make THAT big a difference, but to be honest; I think I felt it when going to 180mm from 160mm... or it could be that Shimano SLX is just that good!
  7. jip... I went for an Anthem but Sprada is a good option as well. OP looks interested in 650B though and Sprada only comes in 29er (I think...)
  8. welcome! at that budget you are best off looking in the Classifieds - I see there are a lot of options in your price range at the moment for 26 and 29ers, DS and hardtail. I'm not going to deliberate which wheel is bets as I have fun on both... For your height you are probably looking at a Large but some frames could come in at a medium (depends on manufacturer). Go look/play around in a bike shop to see what feels right, as well as looks right (don't underestimate looks) and then look for something similar in the classifieds. Some LBS owners probably going to rip me apart now for making that comment...
  9. okay, but will it be technical?!? jokes aside; thanks to guys like you that we get to have some fun from time to time, and ride something different from our usual training rides. thanks and keep up the good work!
  10. Don't know the difference but the Shimano Tech Docs site is pretty cool http://techdocs.shimano.com/techdocs/blevel.jsp;jsessionid=rQ7dT1TQ2GNZBrYJNqN7Kcdw1q2cws80fnpQLDGd7Ftn46GhQ2k2!-1855925006?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302051947&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181679&bmUID=krKBs5u give it a try.
  11. hehehee.... also looks like my frustration made it onto the screen!
  12. Good choice, welcome to the club and many happy kms! Now that you mention it - the bike is very quite - I also noticed it on my first ride yet never gave it another thought... any case; enjoy the bike! MY ENTER BUTTON IS NOT WORKING SO CANNOT START A NEW PARAGRAPH!!! MY EFREFERE MYE ENTMMM
  13. ah yes... I do love that section
  14. get one of these and you can counter steer aaaaaallll day long
  15. There are still a few stalls left, but not in the old usual spot! If you walk from The Zone past Anat on your right, turn right before going into the mall, 10 or 15 metres further and there are some stalls on the left. Ahmed the watchmaker sits there.
  16. took me about 0.253 seconds that one
  17. In Rosebank African craft market there is a really good watchmaker - think his name is Ahmed, but if you ask anyone for the watchmaker they'll point you to him. Even the jewellers in Rosebank Mall told me to go to him when I recently had to get the battery in my Seiko replaced. He's got a plethora of batteries...
  18. did you mean to type that in comic sans?
