  1. +1 for Garneau (also have wide feet and high bridge)
  2. http://www.ridefox.com/content.php?c=recall give this link a try and see if it works
  3. I've heard previous bad reviews on the FOX fork (Fox 32 Float RL CTD Evolution) coming standard on both Spark and Anthem. It did however seem to relate to 2013 models (?) Earlier versions of the Anthem came with the FOX CTD shock and RS Reba fork - some say that set-up was much better than dual FOX... How do you Anthem and Spark owners rate the FOX fork (is 2014 model better)?
  4. this is awesome! gives me more reason to support this shop all the way from Jozi!
  5. Going down to the WC for some R&R next week and I'm allowed to take my bike! Really keen to go do some trails at Jonkershoek since I've been drooling over the horrible horrible photos you guys post each week... Anyone have GPS coordinates for the parking area close to the starting point? Don't want to waste time drive around looking for it. Secondly - is it safe / okay to ride alone @ Jonkers? Thanks!
  6. Old schooling it on my 1999 Trek 6000 at Heia this weekend. Forgot how k@k v-brakes are when they get some mud on 'em! And then; Loots sharing a scratch behind the ear with one of the locals.
  7. dude.... stuck in Joburg? jeez... I've heard mountain goats complain about Joburg having so many organised events compared to what they have in the Cape so I'm sure you'll be okay. After work riding can be a challenge compared to CT since you have more daylight (duh...) and now going to get more challenging moving towards winter BUT nothing we can do about that. some good suggestions from Hubbers so far!
  8. jinne, maar die mannetjies motor!
  9. Don't agree with them riding that way but sounds at least like they were polite about the whole thing... if you got klapped with the front wheel of the bike through your window; now that gives cyclists a bad name! Whatever happened to those guys by the way?
  10. Good luck for tomorrow PieterG!! Hope to get some proper review stuff on the Sprada after riding it for a week.
  11. I have the exact same problem... first DS and also between Anthem and Sprada...
  12. Anyone knows where you can get bottles like this? They're called flip top bottles / sports bottles. I don't want to carry my Camelbak on short rides but the alternative of mud and dust with my water is not always the best alternative... the flip cover on these bottles should take care of it, but where to buy (in Jhb / Cpt)?
  13. Ja, agree with you there. Very little surface area so either need to get a stiff sole or they need to develop shoes that go with the pedal (another business opp i guess)
  14. http://www.selleroyal.com/en/grips/mano-royalgel%E2%84%A2-athletic I ordered mone from Booth Bikes (carbon29er). Got them a while ago and will try them on Sunday. Will review / report back after my ride.

  16. MTB and effective TT was calculated at 631mm. Didn't get any head tube dimensions however on existing bike it's 110mm. Probably worth mentioning that existing bike TT is 620mm so not far off from calculated value of 631mm. My current bike is a Merida HT, Medium (19"). To get my position right I had to get a 115mm stem so probably should've gotten a Large (21") which would then mean a shorter stem. But that's all in the past and the problem is with getting a new bike. I'm looking to get a Giant Anthem 27.5. To get an Anthem with the nearest match to the calculated TT length I have to get an XL (635mm). Weird to think about getting an XL... Anyway; If I go with the XL Anthem I will still need to get a fairly long stem. I'm trying to get away from that as it feels like I'm hanging over the front wheel on the Merida and feels like everything is slowed down and sluggish. So in the end, if you look at the above, it looks like the only Anthem I can ride is a XL with a 110mm+ long stem. Is this right or am I missing something bigtime? Oh, and the 29er Anthem have the same geometry.
  17. I'm just looking at my ERGOFIT printout and was wondering whether it can be used to select a new bike. And how? Does anyone know how to interpret the results (can it even be used) to ultimately buy a new bike?
  18. Medium is too small... but thanks anyway. Why you selling?
  19. That is a bummer... Apart from the wheel issue; how you liking the bike? I'm thinking of getting an Anthem in the next month or two but still undecided between 29er or 650b, sorry... 27.5. I KNOW it's down to personal preference and I'm not one to make "decision by committee" but always good to get others opinion.
  20. Nice! You go for this one? https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/80150-silverback-shift-2-dual-sus-26er-new/ Good deal...
