  2. you big wuss, you missed out. 80km was amazing!
  3. Fly SAA and then you wont pay extra for the bike bag. I had no issues flying CT to JHB two weeks ago. And you dont have to pre-book it you just rock up.
  4. I think Ride Inn at Jonkershoek rents bikes and if Im not mistaken you can also rent Scott at the coffee shop at the Jonkershoek gate (this is in Stellenbosch however)
  5. Why havent we heard yet of any of the big names that are entered? As in, actually paid their entry fee to be there.
  6. 80km MTB entered boom. No space in friends car for the road bike so will skip that event this year. Who else is there?
  7. you didnt have to walk across the tree, there was a bridge a little to the left.
  8. My Sigma Rox clocked about 73km and 1480m ascent, i think. Boyf made me ride Sunday in the Spruit (recovery ride - more like how much can you whine ride) and today another 45km so I have already cleared the details. Back home in Cape Town and will be happy to ride our gorgeous trails here, you guys and girls need to come see our trails.
  9. Wow what a tough and long day on the bike. 6hrs37minutes. Also lost sense of humour around the 50km mark but knew that once i hit 60km it was all going to be plain sailing so hung on til then and really enjoyed the river singletrack. First proper marathon in the bag. Technical stuff was manageable although a lot of unrideable. Loved the floating bridge. Well done guys and girls. To to sick girl that I chatted to before one of the water points I hope you finished!
  10. Wessel are you able to confirm how many waterpoints on the 75km? Also if there is food at these? Exxxxcited! Not going to sleep tonight. Am in batch G so sure you will all be home by the time I finish. Please say hi if you see me, riding a Scott duel sus and wearing Kate Slegrova Cycle Training jersey.
  11. I am in G...at least I can sleep late,
  12. dont worry you can ride sweeper with me I did two stage races last month of 55km on all days, Im hoping that I can make 75km!
  13. So what is the total ascent for the 75km?
  14. riding on the road bike here in Cape Town on Saturday. Dont be silly, you think I actually know how to dissemble my own bike to pack it?
  15. You people are scaring me! My bike is bagged, ready to fly to Jozi on Sunday. Never done 75km before but I can beat a few boys on the technical downhill stuff so lets see!
  16. Im just as big a wine snob as I am about bikes and I wouldnt drink red wine that is bottled the same year that it is harvested.
  17. My six month old full sus went to Cycle Factory for a "wash". When I fetch it this week I will post a picture of my old cassette (because of course the LBS now has me paying for a new chain, new cabling and gear housing, new cassette and new headset bearings). Look forward to hearing the Hub opinion.
  18. too late! First race with my new JHB boyfriend (first MTB ride together, too!) coming up to JHB for work and bringing my bike, its the 75km event or....or there is no chickening out option. Cant do too much cycling before this but will do a lot of gym work, spinning and running. And maybe pray.
  19. do you have the route profile for the 75km? wanting to know how much total ascent is! scared of making myself look like an eejit in front of new BF who is from JHB and we have never MTB together before but are doing this race!
  20. Seriously looking for anyone with experience of these trails to let me know what they compare with in the Cape and how tough the 75km might be. I have entered but not sure what the profile is, the website is a mess!
  21. Anywhere I can get route profiles for this?
