  1. Mampara now that advise sounds like a real weightweenie talking!!! I'm a bit of an undercover weenie myself hehehe Carlo at 6.7k's I underatand you're not at real weenie weights, but as I state before, the amount of trouble you went through to weigh each component puts you nicely in that class. The one thing you forgot to weigh is the grease and lube you used
  2. Hey Carlo stack hight and saddle to handlebar drop to suit your setup is much more important than a couple of grams saving. No use having a bling bike but you're so uncomfortable you don't wanna ride it!!! But you must luv the weightweenies who will cut steerers to the max and remove chain links to the max in order to save those extra 5g's
  3. A disc will always be faster - not sure about covers though. PE wind is no problem for a disc. but as windblown says, you need to have used it before. Only if you're a pansy should you stay away from a disc or if we get a Argus '09 wind blowing. Having said that Zipp's 404 is pretty aero. Weight no issue - you're loaded with gels, bars, bottles, wet shorts and shoes so 200-300g's makes no difference
  4. Aaah the pics as promised - NICE!!! Carlo I agree with waynedude. If you are able to ride lower in front, then remove all the spacers and cut that steerer. will also save some weight Obviously first ride with the spacers above the stem for some time to make sure you're comfy before cutting
  5. It's all to do with saddle to handlebar drop. Depending on your frame geometry you'll add/ remove spacers. I know it looks cool and all, but I've also seen Lance and Conti's bars - with a good stack of spacers. Unless your name is Boonen, I doubt you will have a special frame mould just to suit each pro rider's specific saddle/handlebar drop. 14cm is about as far as they drop - so if your frame is already small and it is low in front, you probably gonna end with some spacers under the stem You'll also see in the pic Basso's Cannon that the headset is almost flush with the top tube - low profile bearing cup as well not just no spacers
  6. Absolutely slowtwitch - cant agree more.! I am just refuting the notion that weekend athletes and even semi pros need this equipment - use it if you want' date=' hey, its a free world, but dont tell me its essential.! Thats like a red flag to a bull.![/quote'] As one very successful athlete said: we only use these gismo's to keep ourselves amused
  7. BOS1000 when I was training for Ironman exclusively, I could not take my HR over 170 ever (theoretical max is 189). That was becuase I ONLY trained aerobic capacity at under 154bpm (in my case) over muntiple seasons i.e. going fast at low HR (you don't want to run the engin hot) Since back at road bike racing and interval training I can go to max again.
  8. obviuosly you can be extremely successful without the techno thingies. just ask Merckx and his buddies BUT... The powermeters/ HR monitors/ lab testing helps athletes to optimise their training time
  9. The ink's not even dry...Just been hit 4 times now "Still the same virus - Trojan.Giframe in Temporary Internet files cache"
  10. Hi Admin Got Trojan warnings on Saterday afternoon nonstop Nothing today though Regards
  11. Eastons don't look good on that bike and wind is really bad for handling deep sections. Sell them for R5000 - just let me know before you post 'em on the hub
  12. How do you keep tension on the brake lever for the rear calliper (which is not installed)
  13. So Becks, here we are...9 pages later a we have narrowed it down to...well at least a bike with 2 wheels, o and looking at your Vote list....mmm...you need to buy "OTHER" But what did you expect from cyclist with their own preferences and ideas around biking???????? IT"S YOUR BIKE AND YOUR MONEY SO MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND WHAT YOU WANT
  14. Ironman has the best goodie bag. And you can use it for years to come for all your gear Worst goodie bag (and contents) goes to Bruintjies Hoogte: 3 junk mail pamphlets inside a checkers bag!!!
  15. Pornstar, I hope your gel sponsorship extends to all cyclelab's Race Teams i.e. Jhb, Dbn, PE, CT...
  16. Becks, anything Protour teams ride these days has the R&D to deliver a great product. Pina, Bianchi, Trek, Orbea, Fokus, Scott, Cannondale, Felt, Wieler, Ridley, Specialised, Cervelo... I can only recommend that spending money on high end race wheels and any of the above frames will probably be best bang for bucks. Groupo's is secondary Just read a thread on weightweenies where the guys riding the stuff are saying that there's NO advantage of Super Record over Record just as an example

    Hi all

Doesn't matter what you buy. If you're really into this thing, you're probably not gonna ride the same bike for 10 years...it's called LUST
  18. Sex on Fire Kings of Leon
  19. Don't use 1 bib 6 days a week!!! Have at least as a minimum 2. I wouldn't buy First Assent. Have heard now a few guys also (like my experience) finding them cutting into the flesh 6days/week, 2 pairs, at that sort of price range expect 1 season's riding, more than that and you're lucky. Assos and you're good for 5 seasons
  20. "2009 black one?" Those pedals looks too cheap They need to change them to chrome toe clips I like the handlebar though
  21. Well people think I'm crazy being on the road before 4 in the morning, so I guess I'm wrong guy to ask
  22. So to all the old hubbers that's still around, how many post have you seen logged on a good day by Hub-o-holic's (yourselves included obviously) Must admit logging posts at 1:30AM is insane...4:30AM looks a bit more sane
  23. Hardi Har Matey
  24. Is there nothing on saddle to handle bar drop (vertical) max dim's?
  25. Hey Mampara you obviously had your pronutro this morning. I didn't even see the saddle saying *Marc*
