  1. Hi, Throw out the vitamin tablets. Unless you have a known condition that requires some supplement then rather buy that specific element. If you training hard and eating properly you will get all the vitamins and minerals you need from your food. Most energy and recovery drinks / bars, if you taking them have, have added vitamins and minerals anyway so you could find when you add up everything that you eat and drink you getting much more than needed. I stopped taking vitamins a year ago and haven't notice any difference to my training or recovery.
  2. Black Prince make it feel like a normal alu wheel braking and they carbon sepcific pads.
  3. PPA made 4.7 million on this last year, surely they should thrown that option in for free
  4. My point since is was missed, was that no matter what we like to think we are all just puppets anyway. Whether it is PPA, who don't seed you unless you become a member or CSA where you need a license to to ride an event longer than 20km or ASA where you need a license to run the two oceans half, or padi where you need a license to scuba dive or the SABC where you need a tv license etc. Different tune but we all dance.
  5. Sadly we'll never see those details. Some confidentially clause will be involved.
  6. that's irony for you.. I am sure you will be familiar will the below quote off the Pedal Power website especially the bold points. PPA is the only "event organiser" that I have come across where you need to be a member to get seeding. So join them or start at the back no matter how fast you may be. Then if you improve you can get reseeded at a cost. Who's pulling the strings now? Quote Membership benefits include: PPA members pay discounted entry fees for events on the PPA calendar,PPA members receive a seeded funride number to use at PPA events,PPA members wearing seeded numbers start in front of non-members,PPA pays Racetec to time PPA members who wear their transponders at PPA events so that all PPA members are guaranteed to receive a result (provided you wear your transponder),PPA members receive a weekly email newsletter with event information,PPA members can ride certain MTB trails at a discounted fee,PPA members receive various discountsunquote
  7. And I am not required to brush my teeth but I do it anyway, why because it makes sense for my overall health. By not doing this they robbing local pros the chance to race against one of the world's top sprinters. A chance in a lifetime for some of these guys. They may call it a fun ride but this has always been and always will be a race even if most people are only racing against themselves. Otherwise why bother with timing? Like a previous post pointed out, sanction cost is a tax, no one likes taxes but we have to pay them irrespective of our feelings. So just pay the tax and everyone is happy. Next year increase the entry by 12 rand to cover the tax. No one will notice or care. Win Win sitaution for everybody. The way they handling it Win Lose.
  8. Alternatively, PPA could pay the 210 000 for sanctioning, they just choose to be difficult?
  9. I think you a bit out there. There should be a pace chart in your race guide.
  10. Having read this whole thread I think I must have missed something. The way I understand it, it boils down to PPA paying CSA 210,000 rand? (6 rand x 35 000 riders) The additional day licenses are paid directly by the affected cyclist, collected by CTCT on behalf of CSA? So unless I am oversimplifying this, this looks like it's more about the history between these two organisations with PPA losing its status within CSA than about the actual money to get the event sanctioned. As sanctioning would cost 2.6% of the total revenue and by the look of their finances PPA can afford this no problem. Someone please tell me am wrong about this. For me losing the front of the field is a loss and takes away from the staus of the event. Looks like PPA trying to cut off its nose the spite its face. (Apologies for the cliche) At the end of the day cycling suffers and for an organisation that claim to have the interests of cyclists at its core, think they need to be the bigger person in this case.
  11. Variation, 400ml milk low fat + chocolate nesquick + 5g L glutamine
  12. Do you want to qualify that statement?
  13. If you can actually get an entry for it
  14. LikeI said, if you really want to ride, and it's for charity, you'll feel better for doing it. Just find a charity that appeals to you.
  15. If you really want to ride, join a charity group.
  16. On day 1 or 2 after, ride at a low intensity, it should loosen the muscles. By day three you should be okay to train hard again.
  17. Or you could give it to your local hobo. They are role model recyclers.
  18. The reality is sometimes you only get once chance. In this case two shops blew theirs. Your experiences may be the opposite of the OP with those shops, but that does not negate the fact that telling a customer you will call back and not doing it is bad service.
  19. Rather go the charity route then, at least the extra money will be used fro some good.
  20. I have a similar problem and put some Vaseline Blue Seal on the pedal at the contact points with the shoes. No more squeaking.
  21. Gadgets? I only use gadgets in the bedroom.....
