  1. Hi Hubbers, I recently purchased Tacx indoor trainer. Once I started to spin, I noticed that the bottom bracket was flexing quite a bit. I have a carbon bike and before I spin more, I need to know if I will create carbon stress fractures by the bottom BB. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
  2. You all complain about Cajees and there service. It is like asking a vegiterian which steak is tastes better a prime rib or a t-bone. They are there to sell stuff. They dont know or care about tyre compounds or the difference between groupsets. Seriously guys we all love our bikes and cherish them. Why the f$%k do you take your beloved bike to an amatures. This does sound stupid, but when I walk into a bike shop, the first I look at is there staff and immediately I can tell if I want to do business with them or not. For servicing I have a private bike mechanic. Sometimes I use Tony Impey or Complete Cyclist. Yes they are expensive but the knowlegde I gain is worth more than the price I pay. If I am interested in a product, first choice CWC.
  3. you got me. Nice one.
  4. Thanks for the feedback. During the ride tomorrow morning I will look out for it. Hopefully they will take business away from Cajees.
  5. K90 Centre, interesting. I ride past there at least twice a week and have not seen any Cyclelab signage. Perhaps I need to open my eyes and pay a closer attention when approaching the K90 centre. How far is it from GP Models and the Virgin Active Gym?
  6. Not for me thanks, used to love training there but since my cycling buddy got seriously injured there and almost lost his life. I find the roads a safer place to ride.
  7. thanks guys. I will be taking my Mavic's.
  8. Hi All, The last time that I rode the Shova race was 5 yrs ago. I was bigger, heavier and not fit. Since then I lost the wieght, ride harder and avg to do a 2:35 - 2:45 in the 100km's races. My question is for the Shova race, should I ride deep sections or the traditional wheels? I know the weather could play its part. In perfect conditions what would you ride?
  9. That is one ugly looking bike. Dont care how much it costs, or the research that went into this unimaginative creation. Sorry but this bike does look like it came out of WW2.
  10. Are you running full DA. I had a similar problem, until i changed my crank and chain to the 7900. I also have a excellent bike mechanic.
  11. Hi Hubbers, Yesterday afternoon I was on the CRC website. While I was browsing I came across a Shimano 7901 chain. WRT the 7901 chain I did not notice any difference, except for the price. I then googled 7901, to see if Shimano will be releasing a 7901 groupset. Does anyone have any further info on this?
  12. I would love to ride this stage. May next year, opps got a wedding to plan for. 2012, it will be then, enough time to plan.
  13. Cajees contributes nothing towards cycling. I wouldnt even classify them as amatures. Cajees does not have any passion towards cycling. There passion is whats in the cash register. I understand that one goes into business to make money. There should also be a degree of passion in the job one does. When you walk into Cycle Lab, FP Cycles, Tony Impey Cycles, etc one notices the passion they have towards cycling. One would not take there luxury car to some back street mechanic, so why do we take our bikes to Cajees. It is our fault also, we keep them in business. I live in the East Rand and the cycling shops that I support are Tony Impey, Finish Line, Tour de Frans, Johnsons Cycles and Solomons (ocassionaly, when i am in the area). Cajees does not exist in my world.
  14. About time....
  15. I was one of the fools that upgraded from Ultegra 6700 to DA 7900. Apart from the internal STI cables and the BLING BLING factor i don't notice much of a difference. Regret paying so much for the 7900.
  16. Hey Greg, Do you have any further update. There have been no posts on FB since Friday morning. Regards, John
  17. Hey Greg, Thanks for the update. It wont be long before we will be climbing the hills with the Wasowicz Brothers.
  18. Damien be strong. You have shown your strength on the road, now please show this strength during your speedy recovery. I have faith in you.

    Death Stats

I was not aware that Shaun already started this. Let's keep this tread going anyway. In the meantime I will make contact with Shaun and discuss this trend with him. I like the idea of cycling accidents. Thanks for the feedback.
  20. Hi Hubbers, I want to start a trend with all the cyclists that have lost there lives during this year. The reason for this trend is as follows, later this year around October/November i will print out this trend and take it forward to CSA. I will also try my best to circulate it to the various city councils (might need some assistance on this). I will also contact the various cycling clubs around the area and notify them of the various danger zones. If you could add the following information: name, surname, where the accident took place, approx time, city/province and date. Hubbers, we need to start raising awareness on our own. We can all bitch and moan among ourselves, nothing will be done if WE dont spread our concerns beyond this website.
  21. And once again our "Big Brother" CSA does nothing about it. They don?t seem is understand that "FAMILIES ARE DISTROYED". All they say is "Sorry". I personally am tired of hearing this word. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> To everyone reading this trend, please ensure that your will and life policies are up todate, cause when you cleat in, it is each man for himself. To a large degree i personally blame CSA, for not raising any cycling awareness to the South African public. I am sorry by I have very little faith in our big brother. To the families out there that lost their loved ones, my condolences to you and your family.
  22. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Is it insured?
  23. I agree Lance = Prick. I see Lance as a money grabber. It is not about cycling anymore. Tried of reading the same Livestrong campains (same stories, different words) and boring books that he keeps on publishing. He is/was (your decision) a great rider. He was my role model, but now I see him as a chop! This is my opinion and my freedom of speech.
  24. No TV Licence, no TV. Got a Projector hooked up to my home theatre. DL all the movies, rent DVD's and play PS3 on the projector. I cancelled my DSTV about 3 yrs ago. Now my fiance and I spend more quality time together. Don't miss DSTV at all. When I want to watch sport I goto the local pub, enjoy the atmosphere, have a couple of cold ones and enjoy the afternoon/evening with my mates. I cannot justify spending R600, on 5 channels that interest us.
  25. Normally this chaos happens, when the short and long distance riders join the same road. There are also car's/truck's behind us that are trying to past us. And lets not forget the final water point was about 50 metres after all the cyclists join the same tar. My suggestion would be as follows: For the final 10 - 15km stretch, there should be complete road closure. Have the road divided in two; one for the short distance and one for the long distance. I was riding in the B bunch, and I witnessed all this chaos going on and was almost a victim. I decided to let the front B group go. No reason to have an accident, still pushed hard and finished under a minute from the B group winning time.
