  1. My favorite SA rider.
  2. Nice. Will look at the website. Congrats on the Polar, you will enjoy it.
  3. Why dont we orgainse a cycling stike day at Library Gardens in protest of the e-tolls. This will need to be done during the course of the week, where the impact will be the highest. Please hear me out and read on. We all take to the highway and ride towards Library Gardens in JHB. We all meet somewhere at Centurion (say 06:00) to JHB. Party all day in JHB, blowing our Vuvu's and about 15:30 we start riding back to Centurion. We can even chat to the various LBS to put bike stands at Library Gardens. We all like to perv at various biking gear and new bikes. I personally lose hours at my LBS or online cycling stores. I'm sure the feeling is mutual. We can get ABI or franchise food stores to be there, we cannot go hungry. We can speak to CyclingSA (sorry they useless and will look at a renvenue generating opportunity), I think we would be better off spreading the word around our local clubs and LBS. We can invite Helen Zille (DA) and Costatu to join us. Maybe they will sponsor us cycling jerseys or medals. If Helen joins us, then I suggest that she leads the way. In order for this to work we will need thousands of cyclists. This is not a race. Avg speed will be around 20-25km/h and we will all ride together in one huge peloton, taking up all the highway lanes. We will have to orgainse support vehicles, maybe a Car dealer principle will be kind enough to loan a couple of cars (marketing opportunity for them)so that no cyclist get injured or hurt. Each car will be allocated to one lane, blocking the traffic from the rear and the front. We will be riding according to the agreed speed limit mentioned above. We will all obey the traffic lights and stop signs. The support vehicles will also need to carry tubes, tires and some spare bike parts. If any repairs are required it will be for the cyclist cost. A LBS mechanic will need to be in each vehicle to assist with any breakdowns. At first I started typing this out as a joke, but now I am taking my suggestion more serious and it can work. your thoughts.......
  4. You can ride it easily in a 11/21 gear ratio. Great riding, awesome event and vibe. Pity I will not be riding this for the next 3 yrs.
  5. I ride a CR1 Team frame and I do not have a single complaint. It is light, responsive and a comfortable frame to ride. If i'm not mistaken the complete CR1 bike wieghts in at about 7.5kg's. Just like Super Mario says: Change the Mavic Askums wheels to lighter wheels and the bike would be about 300-400gr lighter. That depends on the wheels you go for, obviously. You will not regret the CR1 bike. FYI: my CR1 weight is 6.7kg's. That includes the Polar computer, speed and cadence sensor, pedals and bottle cages. Happy cycling.
  6. I am selling a 6600 Ultegra 11/23 on the hub for R350. It is used and has done approx 3000km's. It still has lots of mileage left in it. See my post for more information and pictures.
  7. Studying towards an MBA. Wont have time to train and race. Normally i do about 10 races in a calendar year. I find it expensive, cause you pay a premiun and there is little return. Apart from the 94.7 and Argus there is no road closure. Towards the end of the races one needs to ride with caution because you got the shorter groups coming in, with the faster riders + you are fighting for space on the road with cars. I am not interested in water points, medals or goodie bags. I come to race and compete with other fellow riders. If it wasnt for the mba, I wouldnt mind paying a higher premium if i knew there would be full road closures and no shorter group riders ahead.
  8. On Sunday it will be my final race. Paying R200 for a race, parking, travelling, energy bars and drinks it adds up to approx R400 per race. Yes I find it way to expensive.
  9. No race is still on. goto championchip.co.za and enter from there.

    Fast One

100%, I was also in the sprint finish and some guys really go ape with 300m to go. Weighing up your options one has more to lose than bragging status.
  11. goto Gautrains website and lodge a complaint. You have got the "bus numbers" which will be a great thing. You can also write a post on there Facebook page.
  12. I am speechless and despressed hearing the sad news.
  13. Well I support CWC and will continue to do so. Really sad to hear about the robbery. The good thing is that no one was injured or killed during this saga. Chris, go on and bring out some crazy specials. I don’t care where the product comes from; as long as they are prepared to honor its warranty (which they do) and provide great service (no one can complain about CWC service), I will support them. Just like everyone else, they are in business to make a living and hopefully retire by the age of 40. Chris has got a great business plan and it is nice to see a small fish like Chris take on the big fish (Coolheat, Just fun cycles, Pro Cycles, etc) that are trying to monopolize our sport. How many times do you go into a store to buy groceries and the following week you are browsing through your local paper and notice the specials? It is the luck of the draw. You wanted the product so bad that you were prepared to pay the asking price. The fact that the very next your groceries is discounted that is your loss and unfortunately bad timing. Get over it and enjoy your goodies. You cannot use the value of money because the principals are the same. Would you return to your grocery store and demand your difference in cash. To give you hubbers another example, if you remember 10 years ago the cost of a DVD was approx R250-R400. The DVD manufactures in SA were making a fortune. I was buying my DVD’s from Amazon. People saw an opportunity and started to sell pirated DVD’s at the robots and flea markets. Ster-Kineor and Nu Metro were forced to drop the prices of DVD’s else they would go out of business. The same happened with PC games. To conclude, we need more innovated people like Chris. The specials Chris receives it is passed down to us. It is an unfortunate incident about what happened over the weekend. Look at it on the bright side, you indirectly sponsored a under privilege cyclist.

    Ultegra Di2

Guys, if I was you I would rather wait. Shimano will be lauching the 11speed in 2013. There are some inside rumours that 14speed is currently being designed by Shimano and the lauch date is around 2015. There is a huge Shimano conference happening at Midrand this weekend, which involves the EMEA suppliers. Next year this time you will be able to pick up the DI2 10speed at half the price, as they will be preparing for the 11speed.
  16. Congrats guys. Now go for the 94.7
  17. Where in the East Rand do you stay? If you stay around the Edenvale area you are more than welcomed to join the Edenglen Cycling club for a morning ride. We leave from the Karaglen Shopping Centre (outside the Virgin Active) at 06:00. Saturdays we ride about 50km and on Sunday we normally do anything betweeen 75-110km.
  18. Ouch...
  19. I ride a Scott CR1 and I love it. You said you can get the R2 for R21k. I just spoke to my LBS and they can do it at a lower price, R20k. PM me and I will refer you to my LBS.
  20. Want to lose wieght, cut out dairy, red meat, junk food and fizzy drinks from your diet. Within 2 weeks results will show. Increase your veggie and fruit in take. Dont eat fruit in the evenings. The sugar form the fruit will be stored as fat. Keep in mind that you still need to train. That works for me
  21. I love my racing tubbies. I use Vittoria tubbies. Remember that the tyre pressure on a tubby is higher than a clincher tyre. That means that the tubbies are harder to puncture, but they do puncture. I am thinking about changing my training wheels to tubbies.
  22. What a pointless trend!
  23. I want to be your underwear - Bryan Adams. LOL
  24. check the ruby project website for the warranty. Most of these companies now carry a international warranty. To give you a couple of examples: I bought a Nikon camera from the States and I there was something wrong with the camera. I went to Nikon SA and they said that the camera was not from SA. After a small debate they agreed to repair the camara. I also bought a ipod from Europe and it needed to be repaired. Apple SA repaired it, no hassle. In summary, dont take there crap, but first do your research....
  25. Yes there is a Tacx and Conti indoor trainer tyre. The Tacx wheel is blue in colour and the Conti is yellow in colour. Contract your LBS for pricing.
