  1. hey , Going to be in the market for a rear shock for a dual suss soon. It has to be 6,5" x 38mm. It's going to be for a Xc bike, very much like a scott spark. What suggestions do u have and why? Considering Fox,Rockshox and manitou.
  2. ermmm...did u notice a VW still parked at Tokai??
  3. i just got flu and cant ride again..boooo
  4. thanx..i think..will give it a go again.
  5. anybody??
  6. Hey, I know this is supposed to be easy but something is not working right. I'm trying to bleed my avid juicy 5's but the lever doesnt spring back like it's supposed to. I assume it's because my system still has air in it. I'm also wondering about the lever adjust screw. That little Allen key screw on the lever is supposed to be in a certain position when bleeding the brake. Mine is turned halfway. is the screw supposed to be in or out? The instructions say that it needs to be NOT SO FAR OUT. what does that mean?
  7. what area u in? so we can keep a lookout
  8. hey RAD Yep R2200 postage included. My cell no is 0823244260 Cool
  9. So there's still time! The 'Goose is cooler' date=' looks better, and will get you laid more! Trust me, I have a 'Goose and I get laid all the time! [/quote'] Didnt u just get married recently?? No wonder!!
  10. anybody use the scott cougars. I run them on mine and find they work really well in mud and rock and the cornering is so much better than the crossmarks. I had a tioga yellow dragon in front and that gripped like anything in all terrain..pity they are so heavy.
  11. If u live in Stellenbosch u probably will spend a lot of time at Jonkershoek and Eden. Maybe even Grabouw which is awesome. U should always learn to ride on a hardtail b4 u swop to a softtail. And go for a good frame rather than components cos your components will wear anyway and u'll have to change them eventually. With a good frame u can upgrade parts as they wear and when u have the money. Much cheaper than having to upgrade your frame later.
  12. NO IT DOES NOT! Rocky mountain donated a second Slayer which was duly raffled..... edit your post. but I would like to know what's happening with the original bike now that it's been found Oh really, they found the old bike?? what's the story on that? where did they find it?? Did they catch who was responsible??
  13. More education for dummies... Is the correct RD for what we are talking about... http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=9735 YES
  14. OOoooooohhhhh!! thanx guys..!!!!
  15. That is one serious burger' date=' just what I need now... [/quote'] I dont know but suddenly i have this cravig for KFC!!!!
  16. Hi, Anybody know of whether the integrated XTR shifetrs/brake combo will work with the standard XT RD? or must it be rapid rise RD. I have a broken XTR rd which came with them so i want to put on a standard XT rd. Thax
  17. just some questions /thoughts. If u use a high pressure hose , doesnt that force water into all areas u dont want water?? like into your fork seals ?? And how do u clean the grit out of your chain without cleaning the lubricating agent out completely. Logically there are areas in your chain which is lubed and degreasing cleans all of it out. So how do you get lube back into those fine cracks etc again unless you can soak it??
  18. well the best is to get all the persons information beforehand including id number, home and work address and tel numbers, etc, then check out the phone book or get someone to do it, or phone their work to confirm they work there if you are jumpy. Save all info eg emails etc just in case. Having said that so far, i've received everything i've bought from other hubbers and always paid upfront...but you never know. And go with your gut..if it tells you something is wrong then listen. I'm having a bike shipped of dimensions 120cmx20cmx70 weighing 14kgs so u can get an estimate on that size and weight at SAA cargo. Also it cost me R250 for shipping. Hope this helps
  19. who's worried about weights. Just get 2nd hand parts that work and fit together..ie sometimes you cant use the 150mm fork with the 3mm XC softtail...or the Shimano shifters with SRAM RD. and check that you have the right size FD,BBs, seatposts, clamps etc..
  20. i used to run LX brakes and have changed to J5s. Personally i dont have the squeeking anymore, the pads last longer and i dont have to set my brakes every so often..... But that's just me!!
  21. hi..I have a shmano hubbed m475 hubbed mavic 317 wheelset and a DT swiss X1900 wheelset. The DT swiss is lighter and probably not as strong. The question is: my grilfirend rides a dual suspension bike, and does technical stuff in tokai but very slowly and generally likes XC races..., so which wheelset would suit her better. I'm worried that if she gets the DT swiss X1900 wheelset it will buckle within a couple of weeks, months? any suggestions or imput would be great
  22. personally havent ridden a Trek top fuel, but i did ride an Anthem at the ride b4 u buy. Wasnt that impressed with the ride. The bike felt very hard and cornering on a downhill made me feel jittery. I rode a trance and that felt better but still not as good as the genius does.I ride a genius MC and i love it. Very comfortable and very sure footed. It even feels better than the commencal meta 5.5 did. But that's my opinion. The GT marathon carbon probably felt the best out of the lot. And it's about R30k newm, which is about the genius 2009 starting price.
  23. i'm pretty much ok with the prices of stuff at my LBS but somehow every time i take something in for a minor repair i end up with a whopping bill. Makes me think 2x about going there.
  24. i was looking to bring in a carbon frame formyself. What would that code be and VAT, import taxes etc? I think the more expensive stuff should still be cheaper to bring in, it's the less expensive stuff that may be worthwhile at your LBS
