Oh, I think i bought them at Centurion Cycles. They had a basket full of the stuff. Don't know the brand name. Its almost like very thin wetsuit material (rubbery on inside, material on outside) and is shaped like a long tube. Will try post picture tonight of them. And, when they are dirty I just chuck em in the wash.

I bought a R5 stretchy material strappy thingy that slips over the rim ends and goes around your head. Works like a charm. Also doesn't alter the glasses.

Shees I'm regretting not making the ride!

I say 'almost', because these guys are the minority. Today I cycled to work through midrand, past vodaworld. I passed a group of about 8 roadies. Yellow tops, blue shorts. I greeted the whole group and only 1 guy greeted back (thanks wave guy). The rest completely ignored me. I actually saw a couple look at me as I was waving, turn their heads away and continue chatting. Ag, whatever. I suppose not everyone is into greetings. Almost over it.

Yes, I noticed the BB is wrong. Changed it to an octalink splined bb. And yes, I have integrated shifters currently. I think the avids should be a big upgrade. Also, my crank and BB is a bit worn, so I might as well upgrade them at the same time...shipping costs considered.

Upgrading from 8 speed to 9 speed. What do you think of the budget buys? Any recommended changes?Justin2009-12-30 06:48:13

Cool, thanks. Bang for buck it seems that I will stick with tapered spindle. About half the price of upgrading to hollowtech.

When buying the crank, say on CRC, do you get the BB as well?

So, what do you need to get to convert to hollowtech... The crank and cups? What else?

Hi guys Why is there the big hoohaa about hollowtech? What was wrong with the old tapered spindle? It was easy to maintain, simple to assemble and very durable. Any thoughts?

You mean the 'Ghetto Tubeless' conversion? I only know how to do it with a smaller tube for each wheel (cut open, to act as the liner). How does the insulation tape conversion work? Similar?
