  1. I like the idea of threads or something for different shops. We can then query the shops about stock, ask about services, give complaints and show appreciation. It can only improve service and communication between the LBS and customer.
  2. Are you saying that the chain is still fine after snapping and that a new link will sort out the problem?
  3. @Stillwater, thanks for the reply. I wish however that races stop giving stupid handouts and working it into the price. People arriving at a triathlon already have swim caps, water bottles (I probably have a cupboard full of bottles) and tees (another cupboard). If you subtract that R100 (bottles/tees/caps costs) from the late entry you are back at R130 which is very reasonable. Stillwater, can't we make them selectable options?Justin2010-01-29 00:36:37
  4. Hey, I just upgraded my tires too! Kenda Karma front (R440), Maxxis Crossmark (R535) back (both tubeless) Awesomeness!Justin2010-01-28 09:34:26
  5. Ohk, I got a Kanda Karma and a Maxxis Crossmark tire. My setup was... Alex PC19 rims with Kenda Kamodo (tubes) front and back with the standard mongoose hubs it came out with. Now, my setup is... Kenda Karma on Mavic XM819 rim with XT hub (front) Maxxis Crossmark on Bontrager Superstock rim (ghetto) with XT hub (rear) Did the old ghetto on the non-tubeless Bontrager rim, and TADA! Both wheels (mavic and bontrager rims) are now tubeless, with a bit of Stans sloshing around inside. It took me all of 10 minutes at the local Garage to create my masterpiece! Happy times...
  6. My mongoose Tyax uses the frame for both top and bottom cups.
  7. I agree it is a massive ripoff! Anyways, here are directions... Go through tunnel at Harties, continue over 4way stop, past Mooinooi turnoff, turn left at Buffelspoort sign.
  8. I have been looking forward to the offroad triathlons that always occur in the beginning of the year. The sasol cross triathlon is a lot of fun and costs R120 for a late entry. However, I was keen to try the XTerra triathlon this weekend at Buffelspoort only to discover that the price is R230 for a late entry! WTF! This is exorbitant for a small triathlon (Swim - 400 m, Bike - 12 km, Run - 5 km). Think I will stick to the Sasol events.
  9. Aren't the car plugs a bit big?
  10. Hi all What do I need to carry along on a race for my tubeless tires? I just upgraded to a tubeless system, however I still only have my trusted puncture repair kit and an extra tube in the saddle bag along with the pump on the frame. What else is required?
  11. What? No www.parktool.com link yet?
  12. Thanks Tim. I think I am going to do the ghetto on the bontrager rim, and replace both tires with UST tires.
  13. The Bontrager Superstock as well?
  14. So, what would the advantage be by using a tubeless strip and valve instead of the BMX tube?
  15. The tubeless strip and valve would be in place of the BMX 20" tube?
  16. Yes, but I don't think the Bontrager is already tubeless. I'll have to do a ghetto on it.
  17. What UST tires would you recommend?
  18. Hi I recently bought 2 new rims with tyres (bontrager superstock and mavic xm819). The mavic is tubeless and the bontrager not. Both tires are worn though, so I am looking to replace them. Also, I want to go tubeless on both rims (ghetto should be fine). What tires would you advise on getting? Must I go for UST tires, or will normal tires be fine. As an example, I noticed there are Continental Race Kings and Continental Race Kings UST...with a big price difference. I am totally baffled. Please help!
  19. 17km. By car it would take me about 1h15min.
  20. I cycle 45mins to work (mostly uphill) and then 35-40 home. Maybe I'm just more keen to get home
  21. So, the 6 bolt doesn't rattle more than the c-lock, or the c-lock doesn't wear out more than the 6 bolt?
  22. Yes, I noticed the juicy 3 set is 6 bolt.
  23. Hi I'm looking to buy some wheels and disc brakes, but don't know if I should go for 6 bolt or C-lock. What is the better choice? Thanks
  24. And that's exactly what you DONT want! Problem is, the cycling bug has bit and I will have to fork out some more smackaroos for a decent bike!
